Same story, 1-855-848-0799, Ted Davis. No indication of where he was calling from, just that he was with the county that I live in and that it was a urgent legal matter and for me to call back. The disturbing part is that he knew not only my legal name and cell number, but also my old last name from my divorce 20 years prior. I really hope this is just a matter of mining public records for people's info. Cell number and name(s)?! Sort of scary. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to post your experience. It saved me from an unpleasant conversation!

My brother had someone call him by the name TEDD DAVIS. Claimed he worked with Harris County. Implying he worked with the Courts or police.  He even gave a call back number to be 1-888-255-8488 and a fake case #
This happened yesterday. Today he called his job where I work as well and said the same thing along with same name except gave a different number 1-855-848-0799 same thing along with a case number. We called the city to make sure if he had any tickets or court he may not know of. No where in the City of County or State did he have tickets. So I decided to call back, this Ted Davis answered the phone, I told him I will be recording the conversation. I asked where was I calling and for what company does he work for. He seemed to get defensive and asked why and who I was. I told him you called for ------ I gave him my brothers name. And gave a case number. You claimed you worked for Harris County. We called the city and multiple numbers.  He has no tickets In the state. So who do you work for. He started to yell and curse I threatened to file a police report.  He said go ahead he knows where My brother lives and continue to threaten. This became a shouting match which I hung up. He calls right back and said we need to stop playing with his phone. So on and so on I of course continued with telling him to stop harassing and I will be filling a police report. He called back a 3rd with the same threats. But this time he called for a anonymous number. I filed a police report but there was nothing they pretty much would be able to do. There has to be someone high we can go to about this. These people obviously have your information or your spouse. They even went to the extent of calling my brothers job. How much more of our privacy do they know. They could or could not have our home address. Could have our social. Something has to be done. Any ideas?

Got a call today from this number 888-255-8488 they also were able some how to call back blocking the number to make it look like it was a different number. Claimed to be a court officers. Has some info that's correct but not all threatened to take me to court his name was teddy Davis prob for the day. I called him back and called him out and he was rude said get a lawyer and hung up on me. This is a scan sorry for anyone else having to deal with them!

Yesterday I received a blocked recording call about buiying something so I hung up.  Then the next day I received another call saying that this person ( never identified their name nor place of employment) verified that he had a pending claim against my name and social security number.  He also took a breath as if he was reading from a script in between his statements. However, he exclaimed that before he stopped at my place of employment and home that he wanted to give me a courtesy call regarding this pending claim and gave me a claim number and phone number to contact him back. I called back of course blocking my number to see who this was, but he only stated Department so I hung up. I went and did a reverse phone number search and there is nothing for this number. They went through EXTREME measures to have their trails blocked. So WATCH ur self with these people. Obviously another way for people trying to scam others. Just not sure how they got my number. But who knows.

It's a scam

My husband has been receiving these calls for 2 days while in the hospital. I decided to call. I blocked my number when I called. The guy answered the phone just "department" I gave him the reference number and asked him why he keeps calling my husband. He hung up. I called back,no answer. I then decided to call from my husbands phone and explained my husband would be unreadable for a few days so he proceeded to give me all of his personal info. He said it was regarding a payday loan taken out in November of 2011. The company name was fast cash advance. He said he would accept payments,when I told him I wanted something to validate the debt he said times running out,basically telling me if I didn't make a payment today there would be consequences. I said it would take a few minutes to email me something,he said ok,hold on. While I was on hold I googled this fast cash advance,there's nothing. These people are scammers. Trust no one and always ask for a letter of validation. I can't ask my husband about this at the moment because he is on a lot of medication but I know he would never take out a loan without asking me and also I am the one who handles all the finances,I think I would notice $800.00 being deposited in my account.

Got a voicemail from an UNKNOWN caller that said she has paperwork that I need to sign concerning a legal matter. She'll be mailing it today. Gave a case number and everything. I've been getting various calls like these from RESTRICTED NUMBER, PRIVATE NUMBER and even incomplete phone numbers like 000164.  I don't owe anybody unknown anything. Will be forwarding to local law enforcement and attorney for further investigation.

rcvd a call from this number did not even leave a name to call.  stated same as above has info to get with me for a case.

Recieved a call today from "Sarah", identified herself as a court courier. She was looking for a family member
who lives in another state. Call came onto my cell as "blocked". She gave me a return phone # as
888-255-8488. Threatened legal action, gave me a case# and was very forceful/assertive. Just a foot note Sarah, or whom ever you will be tomorrow, when you threaten legal action it is probably not wise to give idle  threats to a law enforcement officer as most of us are not that easily scared. Just saying.. Scam-Scam-Scam!

Received a call from an Jason Edwards probably his name for the day from 888-255-8488 rqting he's putting me on notice ok go ahead not sure why your calling I do not have any outstanding debts so carry on until the FTC closes you down scammers
