received many many phone calls from an "alex smith" saying that he was trying to serve me court papers when i called back I spoke with a woman who told me I owe $1289.80 for a payday loan and I will be taken to court for fraud for writing a bad check to the company. I asked the name of the attorneys and she wouldn't give them to me stating that its a private attorney that deals with repos and debt collections. Then she asked me if i had filed my taxes and when I should be expecting a refund. When I replied thats really none of your business" she replied with "Well you don't seem like your taking this matter very seriously I'm just trying to help you out!" I was almost convinced to make payments to her and was just rattling off my debit card number to her for payment arrangements when my sister in law (who originally took the messages for me) called me back on my husbands cell phone and said "DONT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFO HANG UP!" My husband called back demanding something in writing and all she would say is that I would be getting "served" and hung up on him three times.

also wanted to add that when my sister in law called for their address they stated that they do not give out their mailing address and accept documents via fax only. I'm not sure if that is standard practice or not but the whole situation just seems fishy to me.  Yes I do owe a debt with a payday loan but it just seems odd to me that they aren't very forthcoming with any information. I asked to speak with the original caller "Alex Smith" several times and I was told that he was unavailable.  I googled "alex smith fraud" and it came up with several complaints that he has harrassed them via phone messages and said that they owed a payday loan. Its possible that its a coincidence that I actually owe one. This person has called my in laws house for 4 days up to 6 times a day with the same message then stated that I would be served at my place of employment that very day.

*THIS NUMBER WILL SCAM YOU*

My mother just got a call from this number. A man told her than she would be getting served "legal documents" for "pending charges". He wouldn't explain exactly what, and left a rather nasty voice mail when my rather confused mother hung up on him.

He then called my cell phone, which is under her name, asking if I knew her. When I asked whom he was with he originally said he was with the state of Indiana, in an office in Merrillville. He said that he had been contracted out by an attorney's office to serve charges to my mom. After he rattled a few quasi-official sounding things off, I asked him specifically what office in Merrillville he was calling from. He answered by saying "Oh, well. I'm not actually in Merriillville," which set off alarm bells in my head. I kept pressing him to give me the name of a specific organization or office that he worked for, which he could not do. He then hung up the phone.

Luckily, I knew better than to give this guy any personal info (address, CC info). So we're OK.
