Well I found out their name. It is GS Holdings LLC and they are in New York. And they are a collections agency but they provide other services to such as litigation so I guess I am really being sued. Oh well that sucks. But just wanted to let you know what I found out.

This whole thread is full of indicators of a South Asian boiler room full of extortionists posing as debt collectors and/or debt lawyers. They hint of criminal process misapplied to a civil matter and display great ignorance of American legal process overall. That "tribal court" reference is a real hoot. The FDCPA specifies that if you're sued for debt it has to be done where you live, where a contract was signed, or where a structure stands if it's for real estate.

As early as possible it's critical to determine if your collector is domestic or foreign. The former you can sue into submission; the latter tend to be out of reach.

My notes from October 2011 on payday loan and "hot check" collectors are linked below.

The following will be useful if you have a US domestic collector calling:

So they think American courts are open on weekends? That's a strong sign of a South Asian fake collector.

Next time they call, ask them to send proof of the debt by mail. That is the law. If they say they won't, you can be sure this is fake. Take some time to read postings about this in the forum. If they want to send it by email, no! that's not legal. If they say "well we just told you over the phone", no! that's not legal. Tell them to send it by mail. The letter MUST show who the original debt belonged to, not just this "lawyer".

I looked up this phone number some and alot of people say that they are rip off artists. I am not certain. Whe I spoke to them they seemed very authoriative and knew what they were talking about. And the guy I talked to said he was a lawyer and that if I did not pay what I owed to Western Sky that I would have a bunch of charges against me and that I would have to  go to a tribal court and they would garnish my paychecks. I am certain if this is true or not. I thought I had finished with all of this a few months ago. If anyone has anything to  add just let me know ok. Has anyone else talked to these people from this phone number? It is like 6 in the morning where I live and I decided to call that number to see what would hap[pen and all it does is ring and then I can leave a message. But it rang forever and then it went to a voicemail that said the person at that extension was unavailable. Maybe it is just me but why woudl a compnay have a  extension? Woudln't that be really weird?

They called me and I returned their call because they did the same thing in my message. They told me who I owed and everything which I do owe those people money. But he did say that if I did not pay I was getting sued and having my paycheck garnished until it was paid off. If I don't I will get sued and have to go to tribal court since I made the mistake of using western sky a few years ago. I was almost finished paying them back and now they are saying I owe them a bunch more money!! It's getting horrible. I have no idea what to do now. I either pay them or I get sued I am not left with much of a choice. And advice? And is there any way to find out if these guys are legit or scam artists?

Same thing.  Left a voicemail, with not information on who or what it was about but just to call as it was extremely important.  Voice sounded very authoritative and left a case number.  With as many scams rampant now I will not be calling these thugs.

I got a call at work,  its clearly a collection agency so annoying.  This are the new "scare" so you call tactics.  If you are going to file then do it,  so I can go to court and have these annoying phone calls stopped.

Received a call at work from this number - Caller said it was a "very important call about a personal matter," however, you could hear the television on in the background with a game show playing.  Very fishy.....

I got the same message from the same number, an automated message requiring me to reply by October 7, and just got another call which I of course I didn't answer.  On top of that, the number that they wanted me to call was about 5 digits too long.  I don't know who they are.

I am aware that I have some debt but I received a call and automated voicemail from this number a few days ago saying something about a pending lawsuit and that I needed to call them during business hours by the end of the day or they would file on Oct. 7.  That is a Sunday and not a business day so that was the first fishy thing and then I have found absolutely no record of this unnamed firm anywhere on the internet.  I am thinking it just a scam or some kind of "hardball" scare tactic from a collection company.
