Oh Dear Lord ma'am.....please, google their website...it is a SCAM website, the district attorney of Illinois, where they are located, took these people and that company to court a few years back because of their SCAMS. It is a fraudulent website. You need to call the FBI, this is called a white collar crime. You should also call the Federal Trade Commission and report this. The Better Business Bureau will not accreditate them because of their numerous accounts of fraud and scam. Please for your own safety, protect yourself and your bank account. !!!!!!   How do I know this?  This Tammy Bloomberg woman called my husband just a few days ago and tried to tell him he owed $6000 from a card from 2004.  He did not. Before I realized it I had fed her some of our personal information and she was smooth and quick, and said his exwife has been notified as well and they are each responsible for half. THEN he noticed a different company had accessed his credit report, Financial Services Credit, guess what?? Same company, different name. He has  now blocked them from accessing his credit report. They have been calling me about a debt that is 15 yrs old. the statute of limitations ran out on this debt in 2002. They are threatening a judgement against me. This debt hasn't even shown up on my credit report for 5 years. This morning they called me, my husband, my husband's parents, my ex husband and his parents within a 10 minute time frame threatening everyone of us that I have this judgement and that a decision is about to be made. They have my social number and without knowing who they speak to they tell others the number. we've received from two people. Robert Ivory 1-888-310-1550 xt 38012 and Jason Bell 1888-310-1550 xt 3012. The number that called my phone was 630-599-5060.I contacted the state attorney general's office for consumer fraud and they advised me to file an identity theft claim because they had my ss number and that this phone number is associated with scams.

I have looked this phone # up to get an address and there is no address information to be gotten with this phone #. It is suppose to be ARA Debt Collection Services. They are taking money from my account on an old debt that my husband had from 1999. I do believe the Statue of Limitations has run out on this. It is just very odd that they don't have address information. It has just dawned on me in the last few days that something is fishy about this. I would appreciate any help available on this. The person I have spoken to is Tammy Bloomberg.

No. Send them a letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested that you are aware of your rights, this debt is beyond the statute of limitations and not enforceable in a court of law and they are to cease calling.

Acouple of days ago,my daughter-in-law and I recieved the same call that we toghter owe 13,699.78 fromARA. and we must comit to a monthly payment imeadiatly or they clamp her check at work. I am on social security.(72) But they said they could take that also.This alleged bill is for a used car she purched 13 years ago.I co-signed. This car litterly fell apart in the drive way. I called andI called them to come and get it because we wernt paying for it anymore. That was 13 years ago.
We went to the court house and signed papers with someone from the finance co.Move out of that state (leaving a forward adress) and had never heard fom anyone about this since  Now this ARA wants us to commit to paying this. Now they are threatening her with her job.  Can a bill be collected after 13 years after not hearing from them? The amont of the car was only about 3000 which we made some payments on before surrending it.

The person said her name was Ms. Libby and that she was a court liason. She said that of this morning a case has been filed in the office by the legal department naming me the respondant. She said she has 24hrs to make contact with me and make me aware of this deposition that is going to take place in my name. 1888-310-1550 ext3068. She didn't say what company. This was all on my answering machine.

I got a call from this number saying that i have a deliquent account from 2001. i informed them that it is not on any of my credit reports and they said that sometimes they dont always get to put it on the account. it sounds so fishy and the guy was extremely rude. he was trying to get my bank info and im concerned that this is not legit

Same thing happened to me. Supposedly for my ex. What scares me is they had our social security numbers. I mentioned there had to be a Statute of Limitations also and I never heard from them again.

I received a call from Ms. Lindsay today trying to recover delinquent credit card debt from 1995 for my husband. I didn't even know him in 95. Called from 847-458-3493. Cal back # 888-310-1550 Ms. Lindsay X3080.

On 1-9-2009 a message was left on my phone for my ex-husband by Ms. Lindsey, regarding case number ###### with a call back number of 1-888-310-1550 ext: 3009, Asset Recovery.  I called the number to inform Ms. Lindsey that I was his ex-wife and that we divorced in 1986 and I was unaware of his current address.

Ms. Lindsey informed me that my name was on a 23 yr old delinquent credit card account with my ex-husband. Due to that fact, I have equity in my home and pay my bills, I would be held responsible for a balance of approximately $21,950.00. She stated, a Judgment was going to be filed against myself and my ex-husband on 1-9-2009. The Judgment against me would result in a lien against my home if, I didn’t pay the following offer: I was then transferred to fast talking Ms. Burkhart (888) 310-1550 ext: 3022, Legal Department. Ms. Burkhart, was willing to provide me with a “Minimum Hardship Settlement” of $2,195,68 if, I paid a small down now and the rest in full by January 20, 2009 or I could agree to pay $5,000.00 in installments of $219.00 per month, this would "only" remove my name from the delinquent account. I was given 45 minutes to agree to either offer or the Judgment would be filed.

I ended my call with Ms. Burkhart, and contacted my Attorney. She, informed me their was likely a statute of limitations and, to inform Assets Recovery Associates, of the statute (which is 4 years in California)and to tell them to go ahead and file a Judgment and to stop harassing me any further.

I received a call today from Robert Ivory, ext 3064 from this number today.  He says that several attempts has been made to contact me (first call I have received from this number was today) and that it was in my "best interest" to return his call today.  He did not say what the call was regarding or the name of the company he worked for, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable.

my son that hasn't lived with me for 10+ years got a message for me from ARA, a mrs. LOpes...stating i need to call her right away...you know what i say you want to talk to me you call the right number.

my mother got a call from robert ivory. He said if my exwife from ten years ago didn't contact him then she was going to jail. Little does he know,I don't care if she goes BACK to jail and she doesn't either. In Texas however they can't put her in jail for bills. Sounds like a scammer to me

my mother got a call from Ms.lindsey, regarding a bill that has not be payed. i did a little research with the computer and type in the number 1-888-310-1550 and this is the info i pull up on that info of a scam that is going on. i have reported them and thanks to every one how reported this saved me and probably more from this .

Theese peps called me to, they want me to pay a card that I charged 3 years ago, I told them I AM OUT OF WORK, they say can you make payments, what part of I AM OUT OF WORK DONT YOU UNDERSTAND????  I never asked for the card it was mailed to me they get what they get.  I will pay it when things get better till then they get NOTHING I SAID NOTHING

They use a lot of different Ph #'s and you know their names are AKA's. Don't answer the phone like I did  threatening me to pay a past debt from 15 yrs. ago. And if I didn't settle with their so called super fair reduced %1 payment they would take me to court. Hello statue of limitations is gone and these quacks still try to sucker you, My call came from 630-599-5060 out of Lombard, Il, I got into an argument hung up. I received a cal today from Mr Blake at 1888-409-5060 ext 3042. He stated that he is in the litigation dept at ARA and calling to speak to me about a legal procedure pending for case#..... and to contact him today and that it is imperative I do so.  They have  beencalling me for years and sending notices to make payments for a debt over 20 years and presently I do have a credit card rigt now with the company they say I owe(chase). I have been threaten that they will put a hold on my credits I  will not be able to use them, searching thru my credits acount and encouraginging me to use them to payoff this debt. I told them i am unemployed and not using my credits at this time because i can not per agrrement with my credit card company. They continue to send me these notices to pay but i do not. I told a while back to give proof or validity of this debt because i do have current account with chase bank but they have not but continue to call and harass me.

Same with me they called about a 3 year old bill, what nerve, my credit is shot anyway, get a life people

Mm mm, I had a bill o.k it was with associate bank, o.k $6000, I tried and tried to pay it, the interest kept on building and building, I told them I got no money, they went away.  I moved on, my life is better, the ARA Inc. Calls and sends letters, I told them that's from 2 years ago, I have moved on, I don't got time for this, they said I still owe this?  Could this be?  I'm in such a better place, how dare they still haunt me.  I will never pay this no way

They want me to pay a dept but I just underwent a birth to date background check for the government which revealed no dept please inform them they have the wrong number

These people called my ex-husband, which I have been divorced for 28 years. He told them he knew of me but did not know how to contact me. They told him he better find me because my case was going to court the next day and I should be there!!! They were calling on a credit card debt that was over 15 years old!!!

My husband received a call today and on other occasions (not from 888-310-1550) it was from 888-409-5060 Mike Peters from ARA.  The number that came up on the caller ID was 630-599-5060, that comes up on the reverse phone listing as unpublished in Lombard, IL.  
He was attempting to collect on an old credit card balance over 14 years old.  This man was rude and threatening saying this bill will never go away, he will never go away.  He just went on and on.  I called him back to let him know that we know the bill is 14 years old and has no validity, he proceeded to claim that it did.  I eventually just ended the call as he was just a bozo and was spewing nonsense.  I'm sure he'll be calling back at some point.

This person called my home for my husband by a different name and said they were a legal department with a claim. My husband is ill and I woke him and told him it was a legal department and when they came on, asking for money, he hung up on them.
I am on disability and my husband is ill and on disability and we do not want these calls.

I have received several calls from this company looking for my ex-husband. We have been divorced since 1997. I have shared with them that my ex-husband has never lived here nor had this number. Is not a debt that was aquired during marraige.

Have been getting calls from this number with messages, same as above.  But when a call comes into my phone that I don't know, I don't pick up or call back, unless a message.  The message was vague and just didn't "feel" right so I didn't call.

Well, I got a letter now too from Samuel Wiser (same thing as Dustin Silver...guess I shoulda been "wiser" or he is...anyway) same phone number with extension 3460.  This is a collection I don't even recall ever owing.  I have a common name so there is the possibility that I am getting calls for someone else's debt, or yes a debt that is well over 15+ years old.  Fortunately, I know about the statute of limitations so I know this is not a valid debt to me regardless.

So, yep my gut was right...scamming for money not owed, maybe never owed, but even so...exceeds the statute of limitations...period.

In the process of making this into a leagal matter,,,Mr Ball is still at it!!  Your blog was so informative,, thank you very much for that..unfortunatley some payments have been made to ARA on an already settled 15 year old dept..so although its past the statute of limitation, once there is a payment made it starts up the stat. of lim. again according to ARA.  I'llpost back again one this is resolved with the outcome.

Hire an attorney. You may be able to find one in your state that will take your case for basically free, because there actually is some decent money to be made in suing companies like ARA and FCS. The tactics used are illegal, and you can get a tidy little settlement for yourself and your attorney paid his or her fees, all sucked out of the fraudsters. Now that is what I call justice.

Be sure to document, document, document. Don't commit to anything. Make sure you file your dispute letter well within the time limits and send it registered mail, return receipt requested. Your attorney, if he or she is any good, will tell you what to do to make an airtight case. Then sit back and enjoy, if you can.

Don't pay these people anything. Send them a certified letter saying that the debt -- if you ever owed it, which they have yet to prove -- is well outside the statute of limitations in your state. They are not entitled to collect any money from you, nor are they allowed to put information on your credit report. They will try all kinds of tricks to get you to give up a bank routing number or whatever, but they can't do anything to you unless you let them.
