First I received a call from a block number saying that they were a legal courier and that he would deliver court documents to my house and to my job between the hours of 12-5. He stated that he had no idea as to what the documents were and gave me the 1-888-331-4154 number and a claim number. When I called the number and spoke to someone they indeed have my full social and birthday and indicated that they were just the "claims" department, no other name until I started asking questions and then all of a sudden became the litigation department. He told me that after court I would be paying 3x the amount originally owed and court costs. I stated that I didn't have any money and he said that he would put in the computer that I was refusing to pay. I hung up with him and instantly googled the number and found this page. After reading some posts I called the number back pretending that I had wanted to pay the debt and asked for an address. The man told me that he didn't see a reason why I needed their address and that they couldn't take payments. But then he said that they could only take credit-debit card payments. So then I asked for the name of the company and he said they didn't have a name and that they just represent the company that hired them. So I asked the man if he was just working out of an unmarked building with no address with no name. He didn't like that and proceeded to tell me to just show up in court. B***s***.

No body will show up!!!  Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the Consumer Credit Helpers at 855-672-1988 with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA.  They will get the collection calls to stop .they helped me two months ago! Wonderful Service

From research I have done into this situation, they also may have a person who is impersonating those who serve you court documents.  They have threatened that they will show up at my place of employment or my home tomorrow between certain hours but have still not identified who they are or what it is in reference to.  What do I do if they do show up?

Report the call. Contact the Consumer Credit Helpers at 855-672-1988 with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA.  They will get the collection calls to stop .they helped me two months!   If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files

Yep:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I got another call from the same place today.  However, today they didn't block the phone number they were calling from.  I looked the number up, and it turns out they called from a pay phone at Delaware Park Casino.  I again called the 800# back and the guy who answered this time still refused to provide me with information on who/what they were calling about until I verified my identity with my ss# or dob.  Definitely a scam!

I received a very similar message today with the same information.  A woman stating that she was going to serve me papers at my home or at work on Friday.  She also contacted 3 other people whom I have used as references for things in the past and left the same messages on their phones.  I'm assuming this is a scam as when I called the number back, she wouldn't identify herself or who she was calling on behalf of.  I did not confirm any personal information with her, which was why she stated that she wouldn't inform me what the call was in reference to.  She just told me that she would serve me with papers and I could appear in court and have a felony show on my record and pay 4 times as much as I owe.
