I also received a phone call from them saying they are trying to get in touch with my son regarding pending fraud charges.  Scared the heck out of me because I also thought they were from a court, said the same thing you told about at same phone number 888-278-1349 & gave an acct number. I called back & got voice mail (it was 6:30 am) for Mutual something... Figured it was a scam since if they could get my unlisted number they could also find my son...

I received a message on our home voicemail this morning at 6:38am!!!!!!!!!!!!! And all it said on my caller ID was 7017. I called my husband freaking out and made him listen to the message over speaker phone. While listening to the message my husband did a quick search and found out they claim to be a collector attempting to retrieve old debt but in all actuality they are a scab company committing fraud trying to scare you into giving them your CC info.
The caller stated her name was Mary Harper and she was calling from my counties district court Processing and Summons department (but she didn't even pronounce my county name correctly LOL). She also stated that she was looking for my husband to get into contact with me. She stated she wished to get into contact with me because of pending fraud charges and he is listed as a relative to me. She gave a "case number" and a number to call back, which was 888-278-1349. Upon calling that number I received a message that was from Mutual asking me to stay on the line and I could speak to someone. Needless to say, I hung up.

Be safe everyone, don't give out CC info over the phone. If they call you tell them you are recording all calls & state to them that per Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) they must mail you a debt validation letter which is validating the amount you owe, the original creditor, the date of the loan or bill, date of last payment. And ask them if they are licensed to collect debt in your state. If they get snippy with you or say good luck or attempt to talk over you tell them that the recorded calls are being turned over to your attorney in addition to the FBI, FTC, and your states attorney general for multiple violations of FDCPA.

I just had the same thing happen to me. An unknown caller from a local area code called, i missed it but then when I called it back I got the same message, in what seems like the same voice you described.

Thank you so much for sharing this information! I've been harassed by them all week. Unfortunately I fell for their scare tactic and gave them my debit card information of which I managed to close out within two hours of my phone call thankfully. Needless to say they called today and were pretty upset since the payment didn't go through. More people should be educated on things like this. This is NOT the same collection company that is trying to collect on this debt. I will be calling the one on my credit report instead to get this matter handled. Mutual Financial Partners (MFP) called my Human Resources Manager and my Supervisor to collect a debt from an overdue payday loan. When I returned the call, they did not want to disclose their location, they did not know who regulated their industry, and the only way they could help me was if I gave them a credit card number to pay off a balance. Why would anyone in their right mind provide all of their financial information to a shady company in the first place? The good news is, there is a new government agency called the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) that is recently taking debt collection, payday lending and other financial services complaints. I submitted my complaint online against Mutual Financial Partners under "Debt Collector/Improper Contact of Sharing Information/Contacted My Employer." I encourage you to also file a complaint because a group voice is so much louder than one, and it appears that we all were harassed by this company through threatening phone calls. Yea I got a call same thing as everyone else they called today after I "defaulted" on my second payment which I did but because according to fdcpa they have to mail me my information regarding the loan which they said you will get one when I have paid the loan. I told them this and if he is familiar with the fdcpa and he said I don't have to explain anything to you I know what it is I said I will be contacting my attorney he said ok we can take that right and after a little more grunting from him he hung up. His name was Wesley Davis. Funny thing was that I called mutual partners Friday he answered he was human resources on Friday to he called and it was from the department of investigation mmmmm sounds fishy I guess he is a bada like that and works both. I recieved a call about an old cash debt from 2009 stating that I needed to pay 800.00 and right away. I was scared so I paid 150.00 and due two pay two hundred more this week what shall I do about this. the number they called me from was 1-866-229-2561

I also received a message on voice mail stating "jane doe" needs to call them back regarding papers that needed to be served. I politely called them back and told them they had the wrong number. I asked how they got my number and was told rudely that it came up on some report linking me to jane doe.  Today the lady called back and was very rude. She asked if I had contacted ms doe because she was in deep trouble. Ishe hung up on mee. I tried to call back and got the investagter message. I reported to police. But the numbers I have are 866 319 2328 and 608 448 3286(wisconsin area code) do I report this to someone other than local police?

I  WAS booked for an interview tomorrow with this company, I am glad I researched them before I wasted my gas.

Called my house and asked for my husband.My son asked whos calling and he stated "Sean Sams". Husband answers....Guy stated he had an order for "my husbands ex brother in law but added an incorrect middle name". My husband stated "I don't know him" and the guy hung up. so, i tried calling the number back which read Ashland City Tn 615-246-0410. Message stating "This is the investigations department. Do not leave a message. Please hang up." I googled the number and it came up to that counties sheriffs department and spoke to someone at the sheriffs office stating that it was most likely a SCAM.

They called my job saying they needed to speak to my manager and needed to serve papers. Then some guy with ext 305 said he will waive the $200.00 locator fee..I called the original creditor and it was a scam DO NOT PAY them any money.

Got a call from some a** named Todd Day for someone I don't even know threatening me to notify this unknown person or I would be served. Told him to kiss my a** and blocked his number. Tries calling him and I get "you have reached the investigation unit do not leave a message" called the number 866-873-9774 and told them I am getting a calls from this a** and they simpy said "he will keep calling until you give in" seriously??? Told them to pucker up too.

I have received several calls from a Robert Day at 972-586-7494. He calls 5-6 times a day. I answered one of the calls because it was a local number and he tells me that I have a claim against me. When I proceeded to ask him what this was about he stated that he didnt have any information and that I needed to call 866-873-9774 which is a company called Mutual Financial Partners. I called them and the lady that answered says that she shows Ive talked to a Brittney which was not true at all because that was my first time calling that number. I proceeded to tell her that I ve contacted an attorney as well as the Police Dept and going to file a harrassment suit on them. She told me good luck and hung up on me. When I called the 972 number, it is not in service.

Very rude phone call, I reported them to the police, FBI, FTC, AZ attorney general and my state's attorney general. they appear to be out of AZ.  and they need to be stopped. this is terrible. how did they even get my number? i owe no money to them.  told my family they better have me call them or i would be arrested. violating fdcpa- they are also posing as law enforcement by threatening arrest.  i'm to know its a scam but they need to be stopped!

I received a call today from a very rude women who would not give me any info about the call, only "you mean to tell me you have no idea what this is about?" I have had credit issues in the past and I think these companies just find "easy victims"this way.they somehow buy your info. She gave me a claim # and a phone #. I called 866 873 7522 and got mutual financial partners. He was very rude and threatening and said I had a payday loan from 2009 with a bank I never had an acct with. Said I had violatedmy terms of repayment and my binding contract. They have retained a locating company to deliver documents to me. Good luck "locating "me, since he gave an address I havnt been at since 2009.  Also, this woman also called my ex husband in another state. We have been divorced since 2001!!!! I asked the man @ MFP why and how did they get his # and that they are harrassing my ex. He changed the subject. He kept saying confusing things and changing info re the debt. Very threatening so I had to hang up. When I tried to google this company, I came up with BBB page saying they are NOT accredited. He only other page was this site. A complaint site. Hhhmmm!

y this company is calling my ex husband,  we have been divorced  over 24  years and bugging him about me.... how they have his number is beyond me.... My phone is under my name so that is no excuse... their number is 866 863-9308.. Monday morning they will be reported to the FTC... they have my ex a claim number for me tip use.... scam...

It's a scam - no one calls to give you a heads up that you're going to be served papers.  Not paying back a payday loan or other loan is a civil matter, NOT criminal, so they are in violation of the FDCPA by threatening you with charges.  Next time they call, tell them that per the FDCPA, they MUST MAIL (not email or fax) a debt validation letter showing original creditor, amount owed, date of loan, date of last payment, and if they are licensed in your state to collect debt.  

If they refuse to send you this legally required documentation, you owe them nothing (per the FDCPA).

Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Let them know that you are recording all calls they make to you to give to your attorney for multiple violations of the FDCPA.

Yes these people keep calling me and threating about some charges is against me I told them don't call me anymore and I'm not giving them a dime and if they got some paper for me please send it to my attorney or my the police oifficer they will get very angry and hang the phone up on you...they donlt know who they are calling they just don;t know what my line of work.....I will get them before they get me!

The investigator calls from 602-490-0111, which is the area code for Phoenix, AZ, where I live.

I talked to some lady named Lindsay West at 866-863-9308 ext. 307 last Friday. She told me I was going to be served legal papers for a Payday Loan for 2009. She said I had intentionally defrauded the company. She said I owed $870. I advised her I had no funds. She said "good luck" and hung up on me. Starting last Monday, a guy named Justin Slater left a message at 7:50 am saying he was an investigator and needed to verify my home and work address to serve me with papers. He said I had charges against me and I had one opportunity to resolve this by calling the 866-863-9308 number, the message ended with "you have been notified". The 602 # has called 8-10 times a day, one after the other, about a minute apart in groups of 3 or 4 calls. Is this a scam or could it be legit?
