The Share Group  (www.sharegroup.com) is the owner of 888-343-7029, 888-343-7012, 888-343-6984, 888-248-1334 and maybe a hundred others.  They are a solicitor-for-hire who does computer-dialing.  They raise funds for non-profits, charities, religious organizations, political campaigns and so forth. As such, they are exempt from the national do-not-call list.  Phooey! They are soooo annoying. They are hiring right now if you're feeling a little masochistic.  :-)

I called 1-888-343-7029 back because I had been annoyed with their calls at all hours weekends included. It answered as The Shared Group, informing that they contacted me on behalf of a number of not-for-profit organizations seeking contribution. They give you an option to have your phone number removed from their list.

They call my landline number frequently, mostly on weekends and I screen all "unknown name" type calls. I suspect that they are a telemarketing operation whose principal clients are non-profit charities and/or political fundraisers, since the few times I forgot to screen, that was who was calling.
