OMG, Got one of their 'letters' in the mail.
I got a HUGE laugh at their information sheet. literally 95% of the information on it was AMAZINGLY innacurate! Loan amount, address, city, state and zip code were all 100% wrong.

I called them up and recorded the call. I asked where they get their info. Stock answer... 'Public Records' WRONG as public records has my correct info.
I very nicely requested they cease and decist any further contact. She said "Ok, anything else?" with no indication of knowing my information.
When questioned she said "The mailings come from a 3rd party, they have no influence on the mailings.
"Ok, any further contact will be reported to legal and harassment proceedings will be initiated" <CLICK> she hung up on me.

Well, I have it recorded with her knowledge so I have no problem passing the info to my Lawyer if needed. If I wanted or needed their services I'd contect them not the other way around.

I didn't get a call. I got a letter stating I'm in pre-foreclosure with an NOD. Neither one is true.I am livid. If I wasn't as well-versed in this whole loan modification/financial crisis nightmare I might fall for this. I tried to call the number (same as above) but there was no one there. I left a VM

I received a Foreclosure Defense Advisory in the mail. The envleope has a big 2012 on it and looks like it is a mock notice from IRS. There is no Entiity Name, and certainly no contact name on this notice, only an address for DLG Service Center, San Diego, CA. It alleges a $1,016, 989 Loan Amount to Countrywide Home Loans Inc., which is beyond my comprehension.....as we have never had such a loan.

As a Realtor, and as a borrower who tried to get a loan mod from Citi, I have to say that getting an actual loan modification is almost the same odds as winning the lotto. Picture a call center (probably not in USA) taking your call and with low wage trainees reading from a script to screen your eligibility. They are trained to encourage your chance for success but have no actual authority to screen your eligiblity. Sooner or later, your file may show up in someone with authority, that will ask for several pounds of financial history. After they receive this they will want continual updates. They may tell you that you need to be behind on your payments to qualify; DON"T DO IT! Many people have gone into foreclosure believing in the fantasy of a loan mofidication.

The people I know who have gotten loan mods have been incredibly meticulous with both their documentation and with their follow up calls, taking notes on names, dates, comments etc. and working their way through the system.

I have received, on two occassions, a piece of mail saying we are in pre-foreclosure, and this is some type of forclosure defense advisory and they offer mortgage relief.  Funny thing...we are renting to own, and we are still paying the landlord.  We have not opted to buy, yet.  This has to be a scam!  We never took out a mortgage.  I put in this 800 phone number to check out the scam and ran across your question.
