NEVER,  I mean never accept any sales calls from this #,  they claim to be a sales company for your local phone company,   Never have I seen this phone company's phone book,  the only yellow pages they advertise in is their own.  It's a scam.   I verified with their sales rep that he was selling for our local phone service which is Verizon and he said yes it was,  it was not.  He was not selling for our local phone service!!!  And now they claim because I accepted the proposal with their 3rd party person,  they have a valid contract with us and that we owe.  Sorry,  but they're never seeing any money from me.

this person said his name was same calling from collections for GOAM MEDIA.  once I said that I knew this was a scam he continued to say that my outstanding bill must be paid and that another collection agency will be calling and making sure of payment. said that our conversation is recorded and would hold up in a court of law!! NO funds will be paid..

I have had several calls from this company, GOAM media. For yellow pages advertsing for our Fire Department. The name he gave me was Daniel Francis, and he claimed to have a verbal authorization from one of our employee's. He gave an address in Miami, Florida.

WE are a governmental agency and don't need or do yellow pages listings. People who need out services generally don't look the Fire department up in the yeloow pages. lol

Same as above.  We are a small community library and these same people claiming to be the "American Yellow Pages" are trying to collect from us. It all started by a phone call asking us to update our listing.  This opened the door and now their trying to bill us.  DO NOT DO TALK TO TELEMARKETERS EVER!!!

In June 2008, we were duped into paying $495 to this company because of a phone call in which they stated they were trying to update information. They did not record the first portion of the phone call but supposedly recorded our agreement to pay $495. We never received an invoice indicating we had a cancellation period. We paid $495 in September 2008 to stop the harrassing calls and were told that $495 was for a two year period and that no further calls or renewals would follow. Today, on Feb. 3, 2009, a representative called indicating that an additional $495 was due for the second year of the period. We indicated our refusal to pay, as we were told $495 covered two years and we want nothing further to do with this company. We've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will be talking to an attorney if the harrassment doesn't stop. Fool us once but not twice.

This all sounds so familiar. Today Peter Adams called after several months of not hearing anything and thinking we were done with GOAM. Now he says that they will file a summons for me to appear in court - in MIami.  What a pain this all has been. It is very encouraging to read other's testimonials. My husband kept saying "don't pay, it's a scam"

btw, I had been told the $459 covered two years. Later when GOAM spoke with our attorney regarding all the late fees and costs we had incurred for not paying on time, he also mentioned that it was $459 for the first year alone.

I had been checking this page to see if GoAm persisted, but I just found this update in case anyone didn't know it yet:

This is from http://www.goammedia.net/

The Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") has filed a lawsuit against Integration Media Inc., which does business as GoAm Media, and uses
mailing addresses at 2520 SW 22nd St. #2-354, Miami, Florida 33145 and 2 N. Central Ave. Suite 170-619, Phoenix, Arizona 85004, alleging
that it has engaged in deceptive practices relating to the offering for sale and sale of Internet directory listings. The United States District
Court for the Northern District of Illinois has issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting the alleged practices. You may obtain
additional information directly from the FTC at www.ftc.gov.

Please, America has certainly changed. And it has fallen way down the slippery slope. But don't assume this scam comes from America. Most of these scams come from 3rd world countries where this fraud and theft is not even illegal.  Some foreign governments even encourage it, and some even take part in it.  Nigeria and Ethiopia pay for training to teach their rats how to scam Americans through the Internet. Some Chinese and North Korean scammers are suspected of actually being government employees. And the ethics of the Romanian government are also suspect. Some governments simply turn the blind eye, as these scams bring hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars to their economies.

Sterling Hamilton called representing the American Yellow Pages and said that our bill of $790.00 is presently 283 days overdue (tick, tick, tick)(hmmmm funny, we don't advertise in the American Yellow Pages) (Side Note:  the Yellow Pages is Just That Not known at all as the American Yellow Pages) ....and he needs to speak with our general counsel asap to clear up this matter(tick, tick, tick).   Sterling Hamilton's phone number is 888-401-3843 Extension 2411 - in case anyone wants to call him back and harrass him.   This has been going on for over a year.  I think it is time to get the big guns involved.

They had stopped calling us for about 2 months and just started again yesterday.  Thing is, we have still NEVER received an invoice or ANYTHING in the mail - just their threatening phone calls.  Has anyone ACTUALLY been served with papers from these guys, or received actual invoices in the mail from them, or received collections calls from a 3rd party?  I'm yet to hear of anyone who has, so I'm just curious.

yea same as everyone. tom wilson called me too saying the same thing. but he was stuttering when supposedly giving me a case number. told him im not paying for fraud. the names they use always change because people who work there catch on to what they are doing and then quit. or get fired because they dont want to scam people. filed a complaint with the bbb and florida state attorney general. one other site had a former employee saying its a scam but your credit is going to be ruined. but they will not go to court. i will go to court if need be. but they will not be ruining my credit. they should be ruined! not the hard working individuals they are calling.

We're coming up on a year also. I was just called this morning by Tom Wilson an actual "attorney" from GOAM. He said he would be sending a bailiff to our office tomorrow to serve us with papers. I told him thanks. I would prefer they take us to court. That way it can be over. Just when you think you've gotten rid of them, they start calling again. I'll keep you posted.

They have been calling us for over a year.  Now that their caller ID comes up "Out of Area" instead of "Tollfree Call" it's harder to weed them out - several of our legitimate contacts come up "Out of Area."  I guess I'm just going to have to let all "Out of Area" calls go to voicemail and then return the call if it's a real client.

This time instead of identifying himself as being with GoAm Media, the caller just asked for my boss.  I asked his name and he replied "This is Ben" still not identifying himself.  We deal with several people named Ben! I had to pull up the detailed caller ID report (which is not immediately visible on our phone) to see that it was indeed an 888 number and not a local call.  Then I hung up on him.

I am so tired of weeding through these scammy companies... and I can't believe that after a whole year of bothering us, they are STILL at it.  Is it that hard to catch them when what they do is so obviously illegal??

I would advise you guys to read more forums/blogs and find more people that have been scammed (I checked it out after hearing about it and was shocked at  the number of people writing the same thing as all of you).  It seems that many small local businesses have fallen into buying this product and simply don't have the use or the money to pay for it!  It feels like you might have more fuel for your fire by taking this route.

If their phone number or name doesn't show up on your caller ID just hangup as soon as you find out that it's them.  I mean hang up immediately.  It has now been 45 days since our last phone call, and probably about 90 days since I last talked to a GoAm scammer.  Refuse to even have the conversation and eventually they'll leave you alone.

I too had a bad experience with this company. They keep calling and harrassing and our receptionist keeps taking messages.  I feel sorry for a couple of people that wrote in...the said they lost their jobs because their supervisors said that they authorized the purchase! Losing your job in this economy because of a scammer?  I don't know how these people sleep at night!

I just found this site for "American Yellow Pages" (aka Goam Media) http://goamericanyellow.com/result.cfm?id=about .  Check it out.  It explains how they get their info ... not by calling and saying they're renewing your subscription and not by scamming you into paying over $500 for the listing.  It says:  "About Us

The American Yellow Pages is your one-stop online reference center. By merging the data from local yellow page databases across the country, we are proud to offer you the power of over 15 million consumers at your fingertips. Our easy-to-use search engine means you can find anyone, anywhere, anytime, as simply as typing in a keyword or market segment or location. Just tell us what you want and we will tell you where to find it.

Compare goods and service and find what you need or be seen.

Get noticed!"

That's great advice but when they call me there's no company name ... only "Toll Free Call" and the number (and I've found they have used a few different ones).  So I have no way to screen them.  :(

Just got a call from their "collections dept" and when I told this guy, as I've told all the others that have called, 'That is not me on the recording. We did not agree to this sale. We are not going to pay.' He said, "Who's voice is it?" I said, "How do I know? I just know it's not mine.  Listen yourself and you can see it's not me." (the voice on the recording is soft and high pitched while mine is deep and carrying).  He said, "So someone in your company is committing corporate fraud?"  I said, "Maybe someone in YOUR company is committing corp. fraud because how do I know that it's not someone on your end that made the recording and is trying to pass it off as me?"  Then I said, "Your company is a scam.  You're all over the web with tons of people reporting this same scam." He said, "I'd appreciate it if you would not use slander when describing my company."  I told him, "It's all out there on the internet.  You are running a scam ... it's not me on the recording and we're not going to pay."  He then asked for the number to our lawyers and I transfered him to our Chief Financial Officer (who takes no bull from anyone!).  These guys should just give up on this one and focus on the poor ones that will legitimately agree to this scam.
