This number is *NOT* legit - at least as far as Bank of America is aware. I talked to no less than four different people in Credit Card Services, Checking, Credit Line.  Bank of America says they rarely, if ever, would call. I would concur, since I've had an account with them for nearly 20 years and never received a call. My accounts are in good standing and I hardly ever use my credit line.

This is a valid number but they are only calling to take your credit lines away from any number of reaccessable crediit lines such as cards, overdraft, and helocs.  They will access all your personal info at the bank and poke around all your deposit accounts as well. This is done in order to get as much info on you in order to support taking action on your credit accounts. They will also search bank systems and take away credit of any household members.

Caller identified himself as Bank of America Card Services, reviewing my account.  Said I had account in collection, $4100, GE Money Bank.  He asked questions about employment, I shut him down, said I would handle at bank branch.  He provided his name and phone number.  Staff there said no such person on corporate personnel roster, phone number did not look like BoA #, call likely bogus

Called my mobile phone.

This company called with all kinds of personal information and asked even more questions. I did not feel comfortable AT ALL.

I called this number back after they called me, at their number 888-401-9535, and they answered Card Services. They were not Banki of America. They said they do work for many banks.

I called and asked Bank of America and they agreed that this company is them and that they are for real. I told them they had a problem with how they come across.

I got a call from this number and it ended my business because I didn't answer their questions.

I also felt suspicious of this call.  I informed them I was Googling their # and saw nothing but other suspicious comments about them.  The woman I spoke with was very honest with me for the reason she was calling; it had to do with past due mortgage payments on a rental property I own.  She was able to name the bank the mortgage was with, how much it was past due and identified the credit accounts I have with BOA.

BOA routinely checks their customer's credit ratings and assesses whether to cancel any credit accounts you may have with them.  I informed them of the situation and they took it into consideration to NOT cancel my accounts ...at this time.

Yeah, agreed.  These people called my mother this morning and were able to tell her some recent bank transactions made on a credit card so she thought they were legitimate Bank of America representatives.  Not sure how they got that info, but I'm glad I Googled this subject while she was talking to them and got her to hang up before she gave out her SS#.  She did call BOA and they said that her account was fine and that none of their records indicated she needed to be contacted for any reason.

Received two calls from someone identifying themselves as Emily Shane of Bank of America, wanting to update "service information", and requesting to know who my mortgage provider is. I confirmed with B of A that they were not trying to contact me and that this is not their number.

Got a call too ..  gee they could'n find me either then asked for my checking account # that I pay the bill with...  B O A Fraud line 800 383 0618

This person asked way too many personal questions. He said he was from Bank of America credit department.

Got a message to call about "existing Bank of America relationship".  Called back, gave them my name, and they were very smooth and professional.  I told them I had a billion accounts with them, so they wanted my SSN right away, which seemed an odd way to verify me on a hard-to-verify phone number.

I told them I didn't know them from Adam and wouldn't do that.  He said to call the number on the back of my card and to ask to be transferred to some department.

So I called back again - I was going to give them a fake SSN if they asked, to see if they'd keep chasing more personal info (phishing) or call my bluff (likely bona fide vendor).  But this time they didn't ask for SSN, just my ph number.  I gave them the "wrong" one, they said nothing came up, so I gave them the real one, they said they were going thru an Account Review to make sure the credit limits etc were appropriate. They said they could see that I also had a business CCard with them, too.  True.

I asked them if I could call back from the ph number on back of CCard, they said Yes, just ask for the CLRD "Customer Level Risk Detection" department.

When I called the ph number on the back of card, the Cust Svc Rep said their system showed they'd been trying to reach me from that dept, although they used another name for it (Balance Controls?).

Just got a call from this number claiming to be Bank of America. Started out asking for my social, which i refused to give and then asked how I knew he was who he said he was.  He asked me for home phone.  I asked was there a message about this on line. He said no. I then gave him my cell (which he had as he called me on it already and it threw up nothing on his "system". -  Which immediately got my alarm bells ringing.  As he was talking I put in the number in google and found this page....  So i am adding my post and I terminated the call.
