Some bloody scammer leaving messages that it is Scotia Bank Calling, and I don't have an account with Scotia Bank so I thinking they can kiss off.

Stupid people keep calling me over and over saying they are Scotia Bank asking dumb questions and wanting info
1 888 452 3135 is what comes up
crunchcom 2014-01-28 19:50:15 Unknown
This is a scam attempt. Bank confirms it is not them. I pressed a key that said I was not the person they were trying to reach; then the key that I was not available. Eventually I got to an option that let me indicate this was the wrong number for the person they were trying to reach. We'll see if that stops the calls.

For the people who used Scotiabank before and transfer to another bank, Scotiabank sells your information to others and make you feel bad everyday.
They use the machine to treat you money, very bad strategy.
Police should do something about that, it is really make others crazy.
Peter 2013-05-06 16:21:18 Unknown
Total scam- NOT SCOTIABANK- Banks do not phone you and ask you a bunch of security questions!!!!
Darwin 2013-05-03 00:58:12 Unknown
Continuously called by this number. I think its an autodialer for a collections company working for Scotiabank Visa.
Multiple calls every day incredibly annoying.
Debted 2013-02-16 00:47:55 Unknown
You can stop it by paying your credit card bills.

I was called twice today by 888-452-3135, once at 7:30 am MST and again at 1:30 pm MST. I called the number and it appears that it is from Scotiabank. They did ask for a bunch of personal info that I would not provide since the number when they called does not have Scotiabank as the display name. I phoned my branch and found out that it is a legit number. It is not a scam however not the greatest customer service either. There was a problem with an account. When asked they why they phoned at 7:30 am, why Scotiabank does not appear in the call display, and why they didn't leave a message they has no explanation. The 888 call is apparently an automated caller and if you answer the phone and you 'trust' they are who they say they are and answer their questions you will get the reason why they called. In this day where there are more scams then one can count you would think that a BANK would be somewhat smarter on their approach.
If you get a call from 888-452-3135 just ignore it and phone your bank branch.

this number calls two to four times a day. very annoying. how can we stop it?
Reporter 2012-12-01 01:51:57 Unknown
Two calls from 1-888-452-3135; both went to voice mail but while the call generated a voicemail, the voicemail messages were empty. One at 4:36 p.m and another at 8:09 p.m. according to the call display. If it was a legitimate Scotiabank number, they would leave a message and I would deal with my local branch, in person, to ensure it was not a scam. Like other posters have indicated, your bank has your personal information and would not ask for this by phone. Suspect this is the same scam as the others have reported.

After 12 rings one would think to give up. Harrassing calls!
ChesH 2012-09-05 16:25:39 Unknown
Same as other... numerous calls from this number asking for security verification for a "personal account matter" with Scotia Bank. As if I'm giving this to an auto dialer!?
If there's an authority, route and shut down calls from 888-452-3135
Kris 2012-09-05 15:19:39 Unknown
Got a call from this number. Automated message asking me to verify who I way, my address and birth date. Then it put me on hold to talk about a 'personal banking matter'.
Hung up and called Scotiabank who confirmed that it was a legit number; their security guys calling about my internet banking in response to a host of internet scams that have been going on recently.
It's not smart on Scotia's account since it looks like a scam, but it's not a scam.

This number just called me this morning...Saturday of a long weekend...I did not answer, I never answer any 1- 800 calls, Thank God...I have been with Scotia bank or many, many years and they never call me for anything, let alone on a Saturday of a long weekend. You should never have given them your phone number or address...that is more than enough info for identity theft.

This number called me this morning and their robot left me a VM. They called me back this afternoon asking for my husband to call them back on that same number. So I called them back and asked why they called, I gave them my phone number and my name and then asked why they called me and who they are. The guy on the other line just said it was a personal banking matter and refused to give me any other info until I gave him all my info. I told him I had already googled the phone number and that every one else is saying that the number is a scam. The guy still refused to give me any other info and said there is nothing else that can be done until I give him all my info. I refused and hung up on him. I then went to the Scotia bank webpage and got their real phone number, they told me that that number is not one of theirs and looked up my name and told me that they dont even have my name in their system to call. So now I am reporting this phone number to the police.
Basra 2012-08-11 21:11:23 Unknown
Its a scam ghosting the same number as scotiabank.
The bank would have your info and usually asks for
Mothers maiden name. ask them which account they are calling about.
They won't tell you.
jack 2012-07-11 00:30:06 Unknown
called me numerous times. if it goes to my answering machine it doesnt leave a message. if i answer it is scotia bank calling for a personal banking matter, please enter personal information to confirm it is me they are looking for. getting very annoying.
Mikey 2012-05-02 20:36:02 Debt Collector
It is Scotiabank collections. Their bot lacks personality.
Nikki 2012-05-01 23:31:37 Unknown
I've gotten 4 phone calls from this number (888-452-3135) today but I keep ignoring them because I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. It says in some of these other posts that it's a phone call from Scotiabank, but I'm not so sure. I have their number keyed into my contact list, and when they've called me before for one reason or another they are actually identified by my caller ID.

Stange call from this number - wanted birthdate and address infor - got angry when I questioned the validity of such a call - gave me a bogus number ( 1-800-375-5872) to verify with my bank that they were legit. Called my bank - no issues were pending and they never do anything requiring personal data over the phone. Beware - several similar scams reported in the media this week in my area.

Got a computer generated call saying it was from Scotia Bank. "They" had my cell phone number and full name and wanted me to key in personal address information. I hung up and called Scotia Bank back. They said they would never have a computer generated call requesting any information and that it would always be a live person. Beware, sounds like a scam.
Darell 2012-03-01 01:22:03 Unknown
Caller say its from scotia bank but ask for information I won't give out over the phone to an unsolicited incoming call---I was told to call a number to find out what was up.---I called Scotiabank to the Ph. number I found on the back of my client card and they told me there were no issues that they wanted me for and that the call was probably fraudulent.
Jersey 2012-02-25 15:02:26 Unknown
It's Scotia bank. If you have something with them, you'll know why.
Marie 2012-02-17 15:04:41 Unknown
called my home line, left msg talking about "a personal banking matter for (insert name)" but no company name is listed in the msg. When it calls and I answer, there is no one on the other line, all you can hear is a clicking noise. They call once a day
