This number just called.  I called it back, and the recording said it was from the National Marketing Research Fund.  I did a search on this "company," and it came up nothing. The recording also did not let you leave a message.  This should be against the law. I feel it is my right to leave a message or be able to find this place listed somewhere that would show a CEO's name and address.

This call came on 3-24-08, a Monday @ 18:19 to Kansas. I did not answer and they left no message. Other sources advise they identified themselves as National Research Marketing Fund but were, of course, not selling anything.

All of the people working there are trying to support themselves. They don't make much money. They don't have good benefits; they have their hours changed at the whim of management-  There is a high burnout rate- no one likes being cussed out or talked to like a bum all day long. They have a quota to meet and sometimes the surveys are very short, not taking more than a few minutes of your time. They are not trying to sell you anything. Their info on your opinions has an effect on the tv programing in your area, stores, the hospital ads in your area. They even do polling for political races. Its all professional and legit.Telemarketers selling things have ruined it for legit pollsters. People are rude, hateful; hang up in the middle of the interviewer's first sentence- many times interviewers are called names, and talked to like dogs. All day long.

Then the supervisors jump on them when they don't meet their quota- like the interviewer can control who will do a survey and who will not-

All people have to do is either look at the caller ID and choose not to answer, or let their answering machine screen the call.Believe me the people working there are there cause they can't find something else. Why make their lives even more miserable.

I just got a call from 856-768-2002. When I answered, there were sounds from the other end, then silence, then the hang up. I looked up the number on the internet and found out it was listed to Outreach International. I researched this name, and there are a gazillion Outreach International listings, with different names preceeding. They probably want all my money for some tear-jerking reason. This must be my night for sucker calls.

Somebody called my house today from this number and left a message. All the idiot said was "I knew I should have stayed in bed this morning."

Is this really supposed to be the number of a legitimate business?

We get a call that rings long distance every day and when we pick up it hangs up EVERY TIME! The number that the operator gave me was 1-888-467-7770. It's ridiculous what we have to put up with.  I live in Canada and they're just starting to implement this Do Not Call List, but I don't think it'll do anything to the National (American) Market Research Firm people that annoy the heck out of us EVERY DAY!

LEAVE US ALONE! We don't even live in your country!

Just got a call from this number. They wanted to complete a survey about hospitals and how I rated them.  They asked my first name.  They asked yes/no questions, which may be possible to use against you in recordings. When I asked them questions about who they worked for they hung up.

I agree, if they are polite, as you state.  However, many that we have spoken to get pissy when you politely tell them you're not interested and would they please take you off their list.  When that happens, I think the air horn trick might be appropriate

I normaly hang up the phone with a choice expletive, but I listened to the person on the other end.  It was concerning children's hospital's in your area and guality of service, adevertisements, blah, blah ( for me anyway).  Being a nurse I thuoght I would talk to someone who would listen concerning childrens healthcare facilities. Nothing about my SSN, bank account or names of family members or anything freaky or questionable.

Perhaps you like them calling your home.  I will encourage them to call you.  Why not damage their hearing.  The nerve of these people invading someone's privacy by calling their homes.  Maybe you should work as a telemarketer.

Survey
I answer every time they call - however, I just put down the phone on the table and let them talk to dead air until they hang up.

I look at it this way, if I don't answer, it doesn't hurt them.  It's an auto dialer and they're not losing any man hours calling me.

BUT... If I answer then a real person looses time that they could be calling someone else, AND they get billed for the long distance call.

From past experience with other annoying callers, they stop calling in less than a week if you keep doing this - you're screwing up their system ;)

Who cares if they're trying to support themselves/a family?  They need to find a legitimate way to do so.  My phone line exists for MY convenience, not anyone else's.  Joke 'em if they can't take a f$ck.  Anyone calls my line they get what they deserve, whether it's an air horn or me f$cking with their head.  I would like to put their heads in a giant pencil sharpener.

As I stated to someone else earlier, hang up calls are considered harassment by communications.  I know in Pennsylvania it is illegal.  Since the ?do not call list? does not appear to help, contact your local phone company and tell them you are getting harassing hang up phone calls.  They will give you a procedure to adhere to and if you do and the calls continue, the party involved will be charged and or fined.

Good Luck!
