Leeann Hunt (?the last name was a bit unclear) called myself and other family members pseudo threatening legal action. I called back but she wouldn't say the purpose of her call because I would not identify myself. I stated I needed info to give to my attorney. She "terminated" the call. I called the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau 1-855-411-2372 and filed a complaint. You can also file a complaint online: consumerfinance.gov

They have called me too and harassing my family claiming to be richardson law firm. I looked them up and they are not accredited with BBB. They are located in Colorado #1-888-473-1882

It doesn't matter if this company is a legitiate debt collector or not, there are anti-harrassment laws and debt collection practices that have been established by the Federal Govt. The FDCPA specifically outlines what can be said and done and within what hours of the day they are allowed to do so. In our current economy it's very common for many people to have gotten behind on their bills. This does not make them cry babies, whiners, or ignornant people that don't deserve the same amount of respect as someone that is fortunate enough to not have financial issues. We are a country of human beings and should be treating each other with compassion and respect. Do not judge someone based on their abilities or lack thereof when you know nothing about them or their circumstances. SHAME ON YOU. As for getting the calls to stop, it is very simple; you simply tell the caller, legitimate or not  debt owed or not, to "cease and desist". This is a federal law set in place to stop harrassing phone calls to you or friends and family that they are contacing. Some companies will require you to send your request in writing, but remind them that they must note your verbal request. A truly legitimate company will know immediately that they are best off to comply with your verbal request and wont require anything in writig. Upon receiving your request, they must immediately discontinue phone calls of any type. Legally, they can still try to collect the debt but they must do so in writing only. If the debt is legitimate, most often the debt is sold to another collection company and they may call you until you notify the company of your cease and desist request and then the same holds true for the new collector.
**It is unlawful to call someone at their place of employment try to collect a debt and 1 verbal message to discontinue is all that is required and they must comply immeditely. Additionally,it is highly illegal to discuss your personal business with anyone else, regardless if they were used as a refence or not, UNLESS it's your spouse. They can leave their name, business name, return phone number and any case or reference number and THAT IS IT. If they fail to follow this YOU CAN SUE THEM.**

I got a voicemail from them asking me to call back they are trying to locate someone and did not give a name. The gave this really long reference number which did not make sense about 14 digits long really! I am going to turn the number over to FTC, BBB and to the police to actually check them out.

I received a call saying that my husband was in their data bank as someone who had "location info" for someone and wanted him to call them back. We did not call back. Thanks for cluing us in!

Some guys just called my phone. The asked for me by name and I  said yes then they said if I could pass on a message to (he mentions the name) which is my aunt. Then my questions to him was how did you get my number. He told me through some search engine and my name and number was connected to her name. He then started to raise his voice saying I must know the person cause of my questions to him. Then I told him I aint going to tell you if I know the person or not and in the mean time he is yelling at me on the phone that I know that person and blah blah.. I just hung up the phone. If the dude was from an attorney's office those people are more well mannered. I dumb and ignorant like how this guy sounded. First came to mind scammer! Why they calling me for I know owe nothing. Call the person that owes you and there references they put down. I dont like to be harassed!

They called about my ex brother in law that I haven't heard from or seen in three years. They got huffy that I didn't talk to him or have information on him. they call me but they don't call my sister who is his ex wife. Weird to me.

I have received several messages from a Mr. Daniel Lee from this so called law firm. The hair stands up on the back of my neck when I try to determine what he is screaming on the message. This man needs to be in jail. If he worked for a Law Firm the first thing you are taught is to Never, Ever, scream at your client on the phone and threaten them. When he screamed ( you have only twenty minutes to call me back ) I knew right then this was not a legitimate Law Firm.  With all of the complaints listed on this page, why are they still in operation if they are legitimate. I have asked them to send me copies of the original debt where I created it and signed for it and have never received anything but these calls. Mr. Daniel Lee only you know your sole, and I can forgive you, and I pray for your sole each night. Mr. Lee you to get on his knees and get right with GOD before it is to late. A true and correct law firm would have already sent me the documents I asked for... quit stealing from people.

This number called me today asking to speak to my mother about a person that I have never heard of. I called my mom and she had no idea who they were talking about. I told them I dont know who that is, so then they said "oh we may have called the wrong Jane Smith (not writing my mothers real name)".  Really weird they called MY phone looking for MY mother in reference to someone we dont know. The whole thing creeped me out. I wish our numbers were not so easily accessed by people like this.

I too received a call from this 1-888-473-1882, a Daniel Lee at ext. 103 and a reference number at the Richardson Law Office. According to a Google search, that law firm is in Texas. Does anyone know if the number belongs to that law firm or are the caller(s) just using their name? I have not returned the call considering I do not and have not owed any past due monies. I'm guessing it is from my ex, his family, or friends debt collector(s).

I am an investigator. I have also received this call, as well as my son and wife. This is a known scam coming from overseas, they scare people into sending money to clear a fictitious debt or help a family member in trouble. Once the money is sent, your money is gone and you will never hear from them again. Stay clear of any call asking for personal information or money. If there is a legitimate debt, you will receive legal notice in the mail from a legitimate law firm with a good address and phone where you can reach them. If you get one of these calls, simply say the call is being recorded and will be reported to the authorities. They will hang up before you finish talking.

I received a call from this office stating that they need me to call them back.  Last year, the same group (or the collection agency they service) called me repeatedly regarding my sister's payday loan.  This is unacceptable harrassment and they have no right legal or otherwise to contact me regarding a debt I do not owe.  They are offensive and shady, and I fully intend to complain to the Colorado Bar Association.

this number just contacted me and left a message on my voicemail. They did not state who they were calling for, just that i needed to call back imediately. Well what i find interesting is that I am only 24 and have never even taken a payday loan in my life...so how could i owe anything? Not to mention i have never been to Colorado and do not have any bills that are based in that state!

I was contacted today by this company as next of kin or first of immediate contact for a "distant family member". When asked how that ended up with my number I was told by a national data base that is used by police and emergancy personal. A collection agency would not be able to access a data base as the one they assured me that the company got my name and number. When I informed them I have no information for the distant family memeber they were trying to contact Mr Garner the rep that called from Russell Law started yelling and screaming at me and I hung up. When I called back I was answered to not by a hello or This is so and so from Russel Law but by my first name.I asked again the business name to which I was calling and I was told this time Richard Law.When ask to speak with a supervisor I was told the company name was Richard Law.I was put on a brief hold as if they were waiting for my return call and the supervisor who named himself as Daniel refused to give me a last name,a badge number,or a referance call number for our call. If this was a legit business of collections one of the items I requested would be given to me without doubt. When I asked him again for his last name or a tracking number for our call he informed me he was listening in on the call from Mr Garner and told me I was irrate with his employee and refused any information to help them. Yes I did refuse any information that I may or may not have had for the individual they were trying to contact only because I personally feel this company is bogus or could be considered as part of a fraud scam. When googling Russell Law or Richard Law nothing pulls up but when I googled Russell and Richard Law Company a website pulls up but the number listed is no longer in service. I would be very weary of answering any questions for anyone calling from this company about yourself,a family memeber,or a friend. FYI..
