the company is called ISAP, this number is for their corporate office.  ppl here are horrible!  they threaten litigation and police involvement.  I am investigating now as I do believe they scammed my husband by demanding payment for a debt that had already been settled,  my husband fearing prosecution paid them a large amount of money.  i will update once i know if they truly are scammers!

I just received a call from someone stating they needed to serve me with a notice to appear in court. The address they had on file was the office of a non-profit that I volunteer with (a location that I am rarely at and should not show up anywhere associated with my credit record). The person told me that I could have the address changed buy calling 1-888-490-3317 and gave me a case number. I called the number and the person answering the phone told me I needed to talk with the legal department, then transferred me. I was told that HSBC was suing me for $3100 for an old credit card. Initially I thought something was up because I have only once ever had a card with them, and my limit was only $300. I did have problems with it but it was never anywhere near $3100. He then stated they sent me a letter 45 days ago offering to settle for around $900 and that now they are trying to collect the full amount they can under the law. I told him of course I wouldn't have received a letter sent to the address they have on file because it's not my address and I wanted to see an itemized statement of the alleged debt. He stated he could not change the address and that "they will find you and serve you" and then said "or I could take the amount on the letter that was sent to you to settle it today without going to court." I told him I was not going to pay a dime to someone by phone just because they say I owe it. He then got short with me and said "I really don't care. Fight it in court then" and hung up on me. I gogled the number, found the posts here, then immediately filed a complaint online with the State Attorney General's office. Thanks for all the info here and I agree with the statements above.....DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY MONEY!!

these people are totally ridiculous and corrupt. they harass, scam, threaten, and make "cases" without any evidence or paperwork. horrible company...

does anyone know what case number they gave you? I wonder if they all match, this is obviously a scam. Ive had them call before and do this until i threatened them not to call, since they couldn't give me any info about me. If i did owe something then they could tell me who i am.

Yes, a relative of mine received a call from this number 888-490-3317 with a summons case# saying that I must call to appear and receive this summons.  Another SCAM on the move!!!!!

OMG I just got this call too.  The call came from 888-490-3317.  He left a voice mail saying I was to call immediately regarding a complaint about me. He said is name was Mike Evans.  When I called it back (after hours) the voice mail identified themselves only as ARPA.  I know I have no outstanding bills because I recently underwent a bankruptcy. It is illegal for any creditors to call me. If they are calling me I can sue them.  I may just do that.  Anyone want to join me in a class action lawsuit against these guys?

They called my mothers home Rolando Garcia his title Head of Litigation stated that if I gave them half of the 2200 dollars from a bill that I owed he would stop the court summons from coming to my mothers door -- it would be there in an hour-- well my mom was so frantic that it made me nervous I gave them my account information but afterwards I thought about the fact that I was not even aware if this was a real company-- immediately called and cancelled my card and informed my mother to just keep her door closed if they show up , and to tell them I have been gone for 25 from that residence... "Michael Jones" just called my workplace asking for me, a co-worker took the message for me.  He said if I did not call him back in ONE hour, he will be sending someone down to my workplace to serve me court papers.  I've gotten this type of call at my house number before! Any and all legitimate collection agencies will list there full address and contact numbers on the Internet with all other pertinent information about themselves.  These sub human excrement calling themselves a collection agency have no such information to give you or a web site with this normal information.  Best thing you can do for yourself is to hang up on them.  When the economy is rough these types seem to pour out of the woodwork like a termite infested house.  Call your local FBI and Your State Attorney General very easy to find this information on the net.  Good luck and God bless.

Got a call from a resttricted # referencing this number,  They left a message ("Mike Jones") saying there was a complaint.  If there was a complaint, a real complaint, I'd have a police officer at my door.  Otherwise, I really don't care.  I'll deal with a summons - if it ever comes.

A male voice called me and said someone would come to my home to sign some papers and i would call this # in one hour if not would take me to court.The mail voice came from a private caller.So i called the # and given the case# he had given me.The female voice directed me to transfer.Then no response.
I had informed my lawyer and he told me to take care of it.

They left a note on my door with this phone number and a case number. The voicemail said A.R.M. I still have no idea who they are though.

My boss received a call from them last week asking him what our procedures were for having a deputy come to our office to serve me with a summons.  My boss gave the call to me to find out what was going on.  They claimed they had a "Case" number.  Well I work for an attorney and do a lot of online case research - I knew instantly that the number was bogus.  My boss told me to just ignore them,  But they just called my office again this morning and told my receptionist that if I did not call them back within an hour, a deputy would be here to serve me with a summons.  I told my receptionist that if they called again to tell them that I no longer worked for the company, that I was fired because of their telephone call. I then called the 888 number and told them to stop calling my work - if they were going to serve me, then just do it and stop bothering my co-workers.   I then contacted my state's Attorney General and filed an online complaint.  The only info that I was able to give them was the name of the company, which is Amercan RPA, Anaheim, CA and the toll free number.

This company or scammer calls my parents house and I don't even live there anymore.  They told my mom if I didn't contact them within an hour that they would summons me to court.  I do have outstanding debt but I haven't received any letters or paperwork in the last three years.  Is this a scam or real?

I wouldn't send them ANYTHING until you get something in the mail.  Then, even if you do get something in the mail I would call the actual credit card company and find out who they forwarded the debt to.  Don't ever send anything via Western Union and definitely don't give out your banking information!!!  Good Luck!!!

They called my brother and said that a court summons had been issued for a credit card debt and that HSBC was suing me. I talked to a gentleman named Robert Carmelo in the legal dept. and if I paid a certain amount by a certain date each month for 6 months, the court summons would be stopped or halted.  Unfortunately, I set up a payment schedule but I used a preloaded credit card that I got from Walmart. The money isn't there unless I put it on the card. After reading the posts here, I am wondering if this is a scam. They said they would send me an email with the details of the payment schedule and such, but I haven't received it yet. What should I do?

They called my husbands cell number while he was at work and told him I would be receiving a summons if I did not call them within an hour. My husband was scared shitless. I knew I hadn't done anything to warrant actions from the law so I looked up the number and am glad I did. Thanks to all for your posts.

These people are despicable scammers! Here is how we think this scam works: Your old debt, whether paid or not)  is retrieved from some lender's poorly secured internet files. Either you or any co-signer with a birth date that suggest that they are older than 60 years of age is contacted, a story about a summons is provided to conveniently include a fake case number. Unfortunately, summons are neither discussed nor served via telephone by official law enforcement officers. Harassment is common so be prepared to block this number the moment they call. The intent is to scare you into sending them money. People please keep a watchful eye on your credit rating and activity.

They called my parents house today asking for me and saying I was being sued. My dad called me angrily asking what I had done.  When I called them they reported that a credit card debt from 2006 was filing against me and if I didn't pay the $ 6,000 today I would have to appear in court Monday. He also said I was authorized on my mother's Amex card and could just transfer the amount to that card but he needed the expiration date and code on the back.  I was actually starting to get nervous b/c with my son's special needs and my disability things have gotten really bad. I asked my mom about me being on that card and she said she took me off of it years ago but the man said I was still on as of June 2011.  Then I said, I need something in writing b/c you are basically just a man on the phone. he said they had sent a lettr 45 days ago and got snooty when I said I never got that and its hard to call someone at 3pm and expect them to come up with $ 6,000 by 6 pm.  Let me add that he also explained that if I go to court the fees etc.. would be up to $ 11, 000.  Then he said if you can come up with what is actually owed on the card- $ 4,000. They will pay up and close any liabilities. They were based in CA.
When I got home and looked at the letter, it looked like something I could have written /created. I started Googling the name and address ARPA in CA and found these similar posts. I then Googled the phone number and got this post. Here we are. I am so grateful for having this site!!!!! I am going to follow up with the actual creditors and try and get some legal support. This number calls my house non-stop.  They ask for my daughter, whom I tell them does not live with us and ask that they please not call my number again.  They then ask if she will be here to accept a summons, I again tell them that she does not live here and they seem to "threaten" that they are sending police with a summons.  I told them they are wasting their time, I will not accept a summons on her behalf, and she DOES NOT live here.  I have asked them repeatedly to stop calling this number, yet they call several times per day.
