This number keeps calling me even on the weekend, I suspect it's a telemarketing call so I don't answer, yet they will call back an hour later..no message ever, just pestering me on my off time! BTW, marketing calls are exempt from the CRTC's and FTC's do not call lists. So here is a fact for everyone, they are not legally required at all ever to remove your name from the lists. So screaming at them demanding them to do so is a waste of your breathe and if anything you'll piss them off and they will not remove your name.
Your best bet is to be as nice as possible but firm and ask them to please remove your name from the list. But here is the kicker (and I know this info as I've worked as a telemarketing research company personally) even if they do remove you from the 'list' on their screen, their supervisors, bosses, etc. Can wipe any client sample clean and throw your number back in there a few months later, depending on the turn over rate for any given project they are conducting. And you don't have a legal foot to stand on as they are allowed by our governments to do so. Matter of fact some of those calls are paid for by government agencies to collect information, without divulging they are the ones asking for the information.
People do not realize that many many companies that YOU deal with sell your information, without your knowledge or consent and they will not own up to it, then swap it with other companies information lists, cross reference it and it's your banks, your credit card companies, your insurance companies, etc. who you should really be pissed at, your governments also do this, sell your information to companies who then pester the beejeebers out of you.
People assume that if their bank says they won't sell their information, they won't. Umm these are banks, they are out to screw you, so your privacy is not their main concern, especially if they can make a buck and not be traced for doing so. :)
Long story short, if you really want them to stop pestering you, as I do myself, be as polite, nice and firm as possible to please remove me from your list, because the person on the other end is just doing a job to support their family and probably had people screaming at them, putting a fog horn up the phone, etc. and if you act in the same manner, what reason do they have to do as you ask when legally they don't have to? A little kindness goes a long way, you may not like it but that is the truth. If you are a dick to them, they aren't removing you, that's a promise or at least not for long. :)
