Just so people know.  The new iphone OS has the option to block any number.

Go to phone app
Go to recent calls
Click on the circle with the "I" in it to the right of the number
Scroll to bottom and click on Block

You'll never get another call from this number.

I blocked this number from my phone. 5 calls in 10 minutes? Really?

I don't know who they are.
I have been getting these calls on my cell phone for 2 months now. When I say hello, no one answers. Frustrating!
Apparently, the person who had my cell phone number before had some problems with these guys.Please stop calling me!!! Find the previous owner of the cell phone number and resolve the issues that you have with him/her.
I am going to report your number to the authorities dealing with people like you.

If someone keeps calling me and I have no idea who they are or why they continue to call me without telling me who they are, asking for the wrong person, immediately putting me on hold, giving me no other choice but to hang up on them...I BLOW A WHISTLE IN THE PHONE or I PUSH A BUTTON AND SAY, "OPERATOR, START TRACING THIS CALL NOW PLEASE. I NEED EVIDENCE OF HARASSMENT FOR COURT. THANK YOU."

have been getting these calls on my cell phone for about 4 years now.  They have been trying to collect a debt from a woman I have never heard of.  Every time they promise to take my number off the list, but I'm still getting the calls.  Apparently, this woman had my phone number before I did.  It will never stop till I figure out how to block them, I guess.  Frustrating!

Unknown, call at all hours. Don't say who they are or what they are. Will report them to the STATE, FTC, DFI and BBB.

"Watch your tone"????   Why would you even let him speak to you like that?  He's the one who should watch his tone, and learn how to read his script (which is what he's reading from, based on whatever answer you give him).  These losers are calling from other countries and don't even have any type of diplomacy.  I would've threatened him with a harassment charge and a call to the BBB.  He obviously didn't care what you were saying otherwise he could've figured out that you already paid the bill.  He's a real 'winner' huh?  you tried.....

kep asking about my social security number and my current address.said they are collection agency. I owe no debts and out of ythe country for 3 years.I dont't giver it to them but what it is but they won'y tellm e. call 3 times a week sometimes many times a day.

I get calls from this number every day! Sometimes 5-10 times a day. They are looking for some woman, who is not me by the way. I tell them every time they call that this is no longer the womans number, I just got it 2 months ago, they say they will remove my number and again 10 mins later they call again.

It is not a collection thing more like a scam. I got a call from them and immediately called time warner. Time warner said I had no fee to pay even with these people saying I did have one.

Kept calling my cell phone. So, I saved the number in my contacts and gave it a name of "nuisance" and assigned no ring to it. Now, I don't even know if or when they call. It's great.

After I read all the information you great folks posted about this number, the next time they called, I simply said San Francisco Police Department - they hung up immediately.  Haven't heard from them since.  The other response I use with calls like this, is "this call is being recorded for quality control".  That gets rid of the just as fast.

they called me twice today, i answered on the second call because i get messages for a business.  the lady told me of a debt that i owe, i told her the bill was paid and tried to give her the confirmation number and date it was paid and she hung up on me. i called back, got a male this time. tried to tell him the same info, he raises his voice and tells me "to watch my tone". i told him again that it was paid and tried to give him the info, he said it didnt matter, its in collection now. i asked him when it went to collection and he said July 30th, i paid the bill on July 24th. when i told him that, he again told me to "watch my tone", then i asked when they mailed out the notice of having a bill in collection, he said on July 30th, today is August 1st! again he told me it doesnt matter that i still have to pay, i hung up on him. better business bureau here i come!

every day i get a call from this number an no one says anything they just hold the phone, this is becoming annoying an i don't know who they are or who they are calling for i am considering changing my number because of these kinds of calls...every day atleast they could say something an not just call an then hold the phone... this company needs to ask for who they want or not call my phone anymore.... please help...

888-558-2147 is a collection agency. They were collecting for charter communications on my behalf.

Yeah, I do owe on a bill to the City of Palo Alto. Open an account for a so called friend, who then didn't pay the bill. So i am stuck with the bill. Well, they can wait, my mom has cancer and she is first, then them in time.

Just got a call from them. I answered for fun. It was a lady that said I owed them money. Didn't tell me how much. I could go on but she hung up after I made reference to...

Harassment of non-stop everyday all day calls.
