I sent an e-mail to March of Dimes at donorservice@marchofdimes.com and told them to put my number on their internal "Do Not Call" list.

I am tired of getting calls from March of Dimes - especially at 0800 in the morning on my only day to sleep in!  I have told them repeatedly that I am not donating - I cannot donate - get me off your call list - I have my phones on the Do Not Call list - How the heck do you get them to stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By doing that, you are confirming a "live" number.  Expect MORE calls, not less!!

Just got a call from this number.  They did not identify themselves & caller ID said PRIVATE CALLER.  Person on the other end asked for Ashley (name deleted).  This usually means somebody's calling trying to collect on an old debt.  I told them they had the wrong number (which is true).

These people are the usual fraudulent phonies that call from the same boiler room using different toll-free numbers and phony computer-generated numbers.  They are beyond the last people on Earth that I would give a credit card number over the phone to.  Most, if not all, of the funds collected will go to the so-called fund raisers.  In addition, there is the real, and it happens every minute, risk that if you say $10.00, the bill will come back with $100 or $500, or more, charged to your credit card.  You can complain to your credit card company, usually talking to someone in a foreign country that is nasty and hates Americans, and they will tell you to stuff it.  The bottom line is to never give an unsolicited caller with an "Unavailable." "Out of Area," or anything similar, phone number your credit card data over the phone.  I don't trust the websites of so-called charitable organizations either. If you really want to contribute to a charity, check out their expenses first, which can be obtained from IRS public records online.  You will be utterly shocked to find that many of the supposed prominent, old line charities spend 90% or more of their contributions on exorbitant executive and staff salaries.  It was also publicized on CNN that several supposed veterans charities collected millions and millions in donations, but did not give out single penny for the benefit of veterans.  If you want to really donate to a truly worthy organization, contribute to your house of worship.

Got two calls on 10/5/2012 at 2PM and 5:30PM from this number. Today I called the number and pressed '1' to hear more about March of Dimes. After a short message about the mission of MOD to prevent birth defects in babies I was offered the option to remove a specific telephone number from their calling database. I entered my ten digit land line number. A voice then said federal law allows 30 days to remove telephone numbers from a telemarketing database but they will make every attempt to remove numbers sooner than that. The automated voice then said "Goodbye". I guess at this point I'm somewhat hopeful these incessant calls will stop. We'll see.

I have been receiving so many 800 number calls.  I never answer.  But about a month ago I found out that through my phone provider, I am able to block calls.  In the meantime I started keeping track of which numbers I have now blocked.  In one month's time I now have blocked the following SIX numbers used by the March of Dimes (and many more used by others)

866-512-5762

report them to your states attorney generals office. Go to the web site and download the form for "annoyong charities"  If they are calling from Ny  there is a form for this on the web site.  I did it. lets see if it work,  enough people need to stand up for it to stop.

I have been getting called at least 3-4 times a day. As early at 6:30am and as late as 10pm.  It is very annoying.  You can go to your states district attorneys web site.  There are forms to download and complete. And yes there are forms for charities who are annoying, so don't feel bad about doing it.  Fill it out and send it in.  I did, waiting to hear back as yet. .  Constant calls are annoying especially when your out of work and waiting for any call regarding a job.

OOOOOOOKKK... soo I work for the US Army and get several calls per day containing hang ups.  Finally I *69'ed and decided to google the number.  So thank you to all of you for the information left.  You don't need to go the the website.. I just called the number back, pressed "1" to hear more about the organization and then "3" to opt my telephone numbers out.  Auto service states that they have up to 30 days to remove your number.  Don't know if it works, BUT worth a shot.  GOOD LUCK!
