Talked to Rochelle. She couldn't find my number but said she would remove it.??? How that could happen I don't know. We will see tomorrow. It was Citibank. I hope this ends it.

We've been harassed by a fake pretending to be Citibank for the last six months, sometimes four times a day. They just switched the number they've been calling from to this number. Citibank says they're aware of the problem. I got the calls down to once a day by telling the person this is a fraud and I hope they change jobs. But it's still harassment.

Well Lewis, replying to a 6 year old post is rather silly. So is thinking that just because your phone number is unlisted means you won't get scammer calls.. You should think about it.. the illegals use dialers that are plumbed with a given set of numbers and those machines do not recognize the fact your number may be unlisted. The DNC can't protect you on that either since criminals do not obey laws period.
You assumed it was your cable company, the rest of the posts point to it being citi.. Do think about that.. and most phone numbers are someone else's old numbers, and they bring with it whatever that person may have had for scams, frauds and cold calls.

Whoever calls from 1888-5799239 , is associated with optimun voice, cablevision, reason being I never give or call from my home phone number no body has my number except cablevision , you can ask them to change your number and don't give it to anyone and you still get a phone call from these unscrupuluos people , !!!!! Think about it !!!!!!

I have received calls from 888-579-9239 every single day for weeks now and yesterday I received 4 calls. Today when the phone rang and that number was on called ID, I blew up. I picked that phone up and asked "Who is this? I had to repeat myself. She said "Andy or Angie". I told her than that if she EVER called my number again I was going to call my attorney and sue them for harassment and then asked her if she understood that. Again I said "Do you understand this?" She said yes and I hung up. I am sick and tired of these people! I don't owe them any money so they need to get a real job. You have to get tough with these people. Either that or I wonder if blowing a whistle into the phone would work? That would certainly discourage them from calling back. MM

The caller calls at 8 AM in the morning every single day.
David 2013-09-19 12:18:41 Unknown
Received two calls from this number. First message was from a man who called himself "David" who said he was calling from CitiCards; second call was from a woman who called herself "Jennifer" who said she was calling in reference "to business I have with her [pause] employer."

Have never owned a Cit-Bank card and sure as the devil I do not want one. I pay my bills and am wondering why I would receive a call from the so called citibank. It seems they must have me mixed up with another person by the same name as mine who has bad credit if this is the case. I hate credit card and only use when I have to and pay as soon as I get the bill. Let them call me back and they are getting a mouth full from me and my husband.

This is CITI Card calling... you prob owe them money
JayJay 2013-01-08 19:49:07 Unknown
This is a legit number. I finally answered and there was a problem with my account payment not posting. I made a phone payment, logged into my account, and the payment was there as pending, and that was for my Citi Mastercard. For once, it's not a scam call.

Its funny that you can only do ONE single call back, from the same phone, to reach this number. After an official sounding recording, the first thing they ask is for you to type in your card number. Hmmm. From comments above, sounds like if I had done this, they would have gone on to ask for my SS number. Watch out.
Sure doesn't seem like an official Citicard Company number. Maybe "true" isn't really.
Red Summa 2012-11-03 13:20:20 Unknown
Well "true", fortunately my acct was NOT late nor in arrears or over the credit limit. If it had been I could understand the call. However, the official Citibank rep assured me I was in good standing & apologized for the inconvenience.
I sincerely believe that "odd" telephone calls such as those described here have more to do with unauthorized & illegitimate calls by unscrupulous individual(s) RATHER THAN legitimate calls made by reputable companies seeking payments from actual customers.
In addition, I commend anyone who is careful/lucky enough not to put themselves in debt & live within their means in such a rough economic period. WE should not be harrassed & no one deserves to be further victimized.
I hope you "true" are fortunate NOT to be one of the victims of unscrupulous individuals & remain prosperous.
Good luck to you & you should wish the same to others which in the long run will help our economy recover from the state we are in.

Rec'd call on Sunday morning at 10:20 am. No message left.
true 2012-09-13 14:02:29 Unknown
so how about you are getting the phone call because your account is past due or over the credit line morons its your credit deal with it how you want if you want to mess up your credit orbe reported to the credit bureau b/c of a simple reminder go ahead. but remember you borrowed the money are you goin to get mad when your friends or family call you for money you owe them and say tht they're harassing?! lol think abt it. and if you call the number on the back of your card and have them trnsfr you to collections and then ask for the collections call back number they'll give you this one
Red Summa 2012-08-05 14:48:56 Unknown
That's funny bellalalala.
I received a call from this number the very next day I made an online payment.
After receiving the call (which I didn't answer, but they did leave a voicemail saying it was Citibank), I checked my account and it had already posted.
I called the "official" Citibank telephone number and told them I received a call.
The checked my account, apologized for the inconvenience and just tried to explain that maybe the dept. that called me did not receive the updated information before they called.
Well, I pulled out my best business voice and said, "I realize that your company is a large corporation however, that being said...you surely have the latest CRM (Customer Resource Management system) which should have real-time data. Wasting time, salary expenditures, loss of productivity and employee resources is surely not good business practice. If I never paid the balance on my account, that loss would be far less than one of your VPs or Board members private jet excursions to Washington to ask for bailout money."
She laughed and reminded me that our conversation was being recorded for "quality assurance.?
OK, that tells me 1) She agrees with me and 2) that recording will never see the light of day!!!
BTW - every time I get one of these calls, I put it under my "DO NOT ANSWER" contact with no ringtone or vibration then when I get I chance, I block it on the Sprint website.
It seems to be an ongoing task!

Got several calls from this number ---- sweet, calm sounding woman. But watch out! Picked up the 2nd time she was leaving a message saying she was from Citibank Mastercard and I had until Monday to resolve this issue. As soon as I picked up, told her we didn't have a Citibank MC and to remove us from the list. She then said she needed to verify my Social Security #. Told her where she could go and what she could do with herself! Blocked the number.

There is a free government website www.donotcall.gov there you can list all your phone numbers- they will send you an email with a link to complete the request- this needs to be done within 72 hrs. There is a link to file a complaint as well. Keep in mind that there are people "out there" who are going to attempt to get a rise out of others- try to overlook them. Please pass this info on to friends & family- Good Luck!

I got the same call and voice mail. Since they continued to call, I called them back. Several times the phone was picked up and I could hear noise, like a call center, but no one came on the line. When I finally got a person, they asked for my social and I said no so they asked for the phone number that I had received the message on. When I gave it to them, they said that they were calling for so and so and gave me a man's name.

Received a call from the same number 888.579.9239. I called the number, an automated service picked up my call and said that it was busy and to call back later. I called Citicard and they said that they didn't recognize that number and if it were an automated service they advised to ignore the call and have the number blocked.

Received a call on my business phone from this company..."Citi-card" (?)
The woman left an extention #. I called back but waited for a regular service rep. rather than dial the extention #. just to see what happened. I asked why they called and what it was about. She said that nothing was coming up under this particular number.....she asked for my home #. I said no because the call came in on my business number. She then asked for my social security number so she could see if anything would come up under it. I said no and she said "ok...then you have a good day!" and hung up!
