It isn't just harrassing to call you at your job...it is illegal.  Tell them not to call your work and if they do again, sue them!

This IS a scam. I assure you. I have basically perfect credit, I have never not paid and bill(or loan) and I have definitely never taken out a "pay day" loan as I have had a great paying job since I was 18. So, please do not answer these people "Scammers" or even entertain them by calling back. Simply ignore them and they will go away. If you owe money you will be contacted numerous times by the company you owe the money to, and then a reputable collection agency, who will send you MAIL correspondence, not just harass you via phone. If you ignore the collection agency, the last step is they will sue you, when you are sued you will get served papers by a process server. You will not be called by a "law office". So, please just do some research on the process and you will see why this is NOT legitimate. Please do not give them your hard earned money :o(

Mr. Finch from Russell Richardson law office just left me a message saying I must call him back immediately at extension 112.   Told me to reference a specific 6 digit file number.    Should I expect multiple calls and the potential for them to contact my employer?

They called my family and not me. I believe they are scam artists, so don't call them back. The FBI has this posted on their website and it is: New Variation on Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

02/21/12?The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) continues to receive complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. As previously reported in December 2010, the typical payday loan scam involves a caller who claims the victim is delinquent on a payday loan and must make payment to avoid legal consequences.

Callers pose as representatives of the FBI, ?Federal Legislative Department,? various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies and claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, or other Internet check-cashing services. The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment in attempts to obtain payment. The callers refuse to provide information regarding the alleged payday loan or any documentation and become verbally abusive when questioned.

The IC3 has observed variations of this scam in which the caller tells the victim that there are outstanding warrants for the victim?s arrest. The caller claims that the basis of the warrants is non-payment of the underlying loan and/or hacking. If it?s the latter, the caller tells the victim that he or she is wanted for hacking into a business? computer system to steal customer information. The caller will then demand payment via debit/credit card; in other cases, the caller further instructs victims to obtain a prepaid card to cover the payment.

The high-pressure collection tactics used by the fraudsters have also evolved. In one recent complaint, a person posed as a process server and appeared at the victim?s job. In another instance, a phony process server came to a victim?s home. In both cases, after claiming to be serving a court summons, the alleged process server said the victim could avoid going to court if he or she provided a debit card number for repayment of the loan.

If you are contacted by someone who is trying to collect a debt that you do not owe, you should:

   Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
   Contact your bank(s) and credit card companies;
   Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
   If you have received a legitimate loan and want to verify that you do not have any outstanding obligation, contact the loan company directly;
   File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

Called asked for me, since I have had several problem calls today, I said she was gone for the day. Asked several questions about who was in charge at my place of employment and how to get in touch with HR department. I tried to give him our HR telephone number in PA, he said he wasn't calling Phili, this would be his one call to offer me a deal and kept going on about how I should try to reach myself :), because I would be so happy with this deal he was going to offer me.

Same thing here with these people. It's interesting that they claim to be "Peachtree Law" for some phone call receivers, but they told me they were Russell Richardson law firm. I am also reporting them to the Colorado Supreme Court's Attorney Regulation Counsel. Both their collection practices and the fact that they are collecting for payday loan companies that are not legal in my state are problematic.

Received call to family members not me. When I called them back spoke to Mr Canady ext 129. He advised that in 2006 (7years ago) I had a cash advance of $123 (odd number) and now I owed over 800 with fees. If indeed I took a cash advance back then. I am sure it was paid. I cannot remember anything like this it was 7 years ago. How can they still proceed with this and the harassment of contacting all my family is had to handle as I am ill.

I called this phone number again today asking if they in fact mailed me the [alleged debt information], and they said not.  I asked if they could possibly email it to me, and he said the email address we have on file for your is [aaaaa@aaaaa.com]...hidden for my protection, and I then asked if they had my information all along why in the world did they contact people that I barely knew and family members claiming to be lawyers with an important legal issue that needed to be taken care of immediately.  They cannot break the law to collect a debt, if I in fact actually even owe one.  They have yet to produce any piece of paper for me to verify, which is my legal right and is legally required of them to produce to me.  I thoroughly scoured my inbox and spam folder, and did not find a single email from them, their law firm, or anybody even resembling a debt collection place, which means that he did not send it.  I have already reported them to the three credit bureaus and I am taking issue with their business practices with the State Bar of Colorado.

I googled this law firm and phone number and came up with the Law Offices of Russell Richardson.  I asked the rude jerk on the phone why he was calling friends and family instead of me and he said because he could.  I asked his name and he replied [Daniel Lee]. I asked his employee number or extension and he replied [123].  I asked the state bar number of the Attorney that he worked for and he rudley replied [well, if we are playing that game, google the Colorado Supreme Court].  Obviously [Daniel Lee] would have realized that the bar number comes from the State Bar office, not the Supreme Court, and that according the official records, his boss, Russell Wayne Richardson, has his attorney licenses revoked at one time.  So, why would this attorney risk his license again [if the information is correct that I found on him] by hiring a violating worker named [Daniel Lee].  I have doubts if that is his real name, but I know his voice.  I called him today at 1:32 and made an official record of my call and put him on notice that he had better not contact anybody but me again or I will take immediate action and file against them for each and every violation that they are guilty of.  Tomorrow I will try and contact the attorney at the number I have listed for the law firm, which is 303-355-7353.  This number was listed under the name and city that the employee of the firm [Daniel Lee, ext 123] gave me today.

Someone named Michael Canady called my work today and one of my coworkers answered the phone who told him I was out of the office.  He demanded to talk to my supervisor - said that I HAD to call him back to day - or else!.  My coworker asked him if there was something she could do to help him and he said, "No.  This is personal."  He gave her the number to call back - 888-656-9808, extension 129.  I called the number just to see what business it was, and it was Peach Tree Law Center.  I didn't talk to this Michael because I don't handle harassing conversations very well.  I found the company on google and sent them an email, though, telling them that if they wanted to contact me they could do so by mail or email - not by calling me at work!  I'll see if they answer my email.  Anyway....I have no idea what they could want with me but I don't appreciate being harassed at work!
