Debt Collector
I have been receiving phone calls from this number for some time now. I was informed that I was to be served papers for a bounced check I had never written. They have contacted me and my friends, family and co-workers about this and have stated

Debt Collector
Calling to collect a debt and then telling me that they had a tracer trying to find me.  I tried to settle the debt with the debt collector telling me they were going to take me to court and file charges for breach of contract and fraud.  I was told I need a debit or credit card to take care of this debt, the first payment was suppose to be 101.22 then when I called them to let them know I got a pay as you go credit card the price of the first payment went up to $150.00.  I need to know if this is legitimate collection company, they keep harassing me and telling me they are going to take me to court and that the results could be in the thousands for me.  I have tried working things out only to get threatened.

Debt Collector
This is nothing but a scam.  If you listen to their voice mail, they talk about charges be filed and a claim pending.  This is nothing more than a scam by a bottom feeder debt collector.  First and foremost there can be no "charges" in a debt collection matter.  Secondly this place calls non stop every minute like 6 times in a row.

First they say they are in the pre-litigation department, then they say they are an ADR firm.  Ignore these CROOKS and DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME!!  Research more at collectorsexposed.com  Once we find out who these people are we will expose them for the liars and cheats they are.

They made a mistake of calling my parents house for a person with my name but the incorrect last 4 of the SS and incorrect address, an address I have never lived at.  The person on the phone tried telling me there was only one of me in the U.S. and it must be me, yeah right.

We as the admin of the collectorsexposed.com site rest assured we will find out who these people are and expose the company and the principals behind their operation!!

Mr Watson.. i would call the firm back and see if u can still resolve ur matter out of court. i had a call from a process server against charges on me as well. I just figured it was a scam for a bill collector. but when they should up to my HR dept, luckly i wasnt in that day but my director gave me info to firm and i was able to fix my problem before appearing in court. This is legit guys. For someone like me who has worked in collections,. take my advice. Try to figure it out before you have the legal charges on ur record.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I too have received a call from a Tony Johnson from 651-212-2128 stating I needed to call  888-680-5983. I have blocked his numbers from my phones. He was stating he wasn't going to chase me around and had my address and that I would be served. Same as stated above, you don't receive calls to be served and I would like him or someone from his so called company to show up at my doorstep. That would be his second mistake. First was to call and leave the messages and repeated calling with no answer. All that is on file. Next I am filing a complaint on the FTC site, these guys need to stop and get real jobs. Everyone of you need to file a complaint. They don't serve papers for unpaid bills. They serve for criminal charges and failure to appear. They are trying to just get someone to give up a debit card or bank account and scam them out of alot of money. Aint happening here. I will see him in court if this in fact a valid issue, which I know it is not.

This company called "no-named" said they were serving me to go to court today and a claim number - but no name of a company.  Called from a cell phone saying he was in an office not far from me.. obviously a stupid scam.. no one is suiing me..I think I would have known that.  The number is 937-756-0777 and tells me to call 888-680-5983 - a "firm" also surprisingly without a company name, and cannot find in yellow pages of such a number.
