Got a Parcel Pickup Notice asking to call the above mentioned number and reference my (?) package number. Naturally I didn't call... but instead "read the fine print" which stated "if I wished to no longer receive this offer from Global Vacation Network, to please send this post card to GVN 3519 Alt 19 Palm Harbor, FL 34683. Yeah Right... spend 49-cents (postage) to get off someone's list... Like I have faith in that ever working!

Got the little yellow card in the mail. Of course totally phoney.  72 hours to contact "distribution center" from what date or before what date? Very clumsy. Calling hours 9:00 -9:30PM in which time zone? Small print says "pick up date and time may be specified by a secondary agent of addressee." An internet search is REPLETE with scams spinning off of the postal permit. The company seems to be in Texas and not Florida. The Better Business Bureau has numerous complaints connected to the postal permit.
Apparently, this is (or was) a "private Vacation Club" scam.

The "secondary agent" is really a pitch team signing up people after a 90 minute "presentation." The old scam was free plane tickets. How the new variation "free Android note pad" works I did not spend the time to research.  Here's the old pitch from the West Palm Beach Permit 1002 people thanks to the BBB in Tuscon.

"Consumers who have attended tell BBB that the program offered is a private travel club. The up front cost of the program is $8,995. Members pay a one time $399 "documentation fee" and an annual membership fee of $199. Other packages for lesser prices are offered, according to consumers. - See more at: http://www.bbb.org/tucson/business-reviews/tr ... h.7WxkGXzO.dpuf:

My guess is that only certain regions/areas are targeted at one time to make it efficient for the scam team to gather in the sheep.

So now you (some) more.

Same thing going around western PA. Postcard shows West Palm Beach as the mailer.  Didn't bother to call since they get your phone number when you call an 888 or 800 #.

Got a 'yellow postcard with brown print' which suggests that it's from UPS but that company uses paper post-it notes like notices. Didn't call because I figured it was a scam. Found and confirmed that here. I see that there were no reports for a few years but starting 5/15/2014 they seemed to be back in business. (i'm from the Philly area)

Called the 888-684-2674 number on yellow card.  They said it was DMG marketing promo, and I had won free android tablet with no strings.  Please call 888-684-2654.  Friend stopped by and said he had also received this card.  Hmmm - 2 lucky winners in a Chicago suburb 5 miles apart?  Doubt it.  Pitch.  (Mine was from W Palm Beach).

Got mine today.  Blocked my number and called to see what it was.  It's for a stupid time share.  Mainly I wanted to call just to let them know I don't appreciate deceptive advertising and will not do business with anyone who has to lie just to talk to me.

Got a postcard to call to schedule a pick-up. Included a package number and track number. Figured it was probably bogus,  An automated response had me enter the package number then put me on hold. After a couple minutes I hung up.

Got the card today. Any reputable company would have their company name on the card, and would first deal with you at your home phone number or email address you provided when you ordered from them. Put their 888 number on call-block just so I don't have to deal with any calls from them.  Thanks for this great site where we can help each other avoid the scammers.

I got the same green card today and thought it may have been some sort of pick-up slip for the book I just ordered 2 days ago, so I called. Listened to the lady on the line telling me all these things I had been selected for (different trips, a laptop or an Android tablet), then told me about the talk I was suppose to sit in on... told me the company giving away these prizes is a travel agency. I got a strange feeling, so I googled the phone number while talking to her, which led me here. I just hope I don't get charged for the "Toll-Free"  number, but I will fight it if I do. These people are scammers. Some body should give this phone number to the west African scammers on craigslist. Let them piss each other off.

We received a green postcard today in Illinois from:
Package Services
P.O. Box 820
Whitehouse, TX  75791
Call Toll-Free to schedule pickup:  (888) 684-2652
Followed by a fake package number and tracking number and office hours.

The Better Business Bureau says that this is really CDA Consulting LLC and they have an "F" rating.  These scammers have also been known to use these phone numbers:  (877) 818-2492; (877) 623-1611; and (903) 780-6510.

Apparently when people call these people try to set up appointments for them to attend presentations from various companies ("vacation opportunities").  Scam.

Others have reported being hooked into rebate programs where you save your receipts for a year (retail, gas, dining) and then you send them in a get a rebate.  Scam.

I wonder if this constitutes mail fraud?

Took Foodie202's advice and submitted this as a scam to https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx; hopefully the USPS can put the stops on this company (Package Services) and save others from any more wasted time. By the way, we are located in Chicagoland so it seems many areas are receiving the notice.
