Sure, but it doesn't give a free pass to melt down the phone line with multiple abandoned calls per day to the alleged debtor, cluster calls to the "nearbys", repeated calls to the workplace, etc.

It would be simpler still if certain debt collectors would drop their act that they can find everyone in creation except the alleged debtor. It would be simpler for everyone if others would perform the few minutes of due diligence to qualify a phone number before blasting out feeler calls.

The federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. Here are the DNC service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:

You don't need a valid debt or a derogatory trade line on your credit reports to be hassled by debt collectors. They call third parties to alleged debtors all the time for permitted skip tracing purposes, or often pretending it's a trace to annoy and shame an intended target whose location is already known.

i have received daily call from 716-564-4362. when i pick up the other end is silent for several seconds. i hang up. this has been ongoing for a couple weeks. I have been on Do Not call from day i acquired my phone number three and a half years ago. I have no debts in arrears, and even checked credit rating etc. after reviewing the reputation of firm associated with this number. I do know that the previous user of this phone number sinced moved to another state did have financial issues. I assume this disreputable firm knowingly uses old numbers out of the guise "of last known number" without any follow up , nor has it provided any means to address their errors except by expending my time, effort and dollars. Obviously the only recourse is to sue for redress since there is an active attempt to avoid providing non adversarial consumers means of redress.There are so many complaints I see there are actually a number of law firms that actively pursue cases against this firm. Since First Source believes that harrassment at any cost is preferrable, than i am sure they will want a client hat will easily get them  % of monies from harassment, damages, and penalties through consumer laws.

I keep getting these calls and they hang up if i leave it for the answering machine and just now got one and when i answered it-- they kept saying don't hang up for close to 3 minutes then they hung up. i called the # back and told them they better take me off the calling list or i would report them. I have never even been late with a payment in the 55 years we have been married. I have blocked all my phone will hold. they keep calling from other #'s I guess i will take the original ones off and start again first source this is one # 1-716-564-4362  that is just one # i get at least 2 a day

I've been getting these calls also. and I have never been even late paying a bill for 55 years. this last on i answeredand they kept saying -- dont hang up for about 3 minutes.then i called the # back and i told him to take me off i owe no one anything late. i'm sure it didnt do any good. i get at least 2 a day. i have blocked all my phone will let me. iguess i will have to take the blocked ones off and start blocking them again

when i called first source advantage back , was transferred right away.  i told them i told them before not to call me. they  said they would not.

they have called several times looking  for someone i used to know.  i told them i don't know where she is
and don't call me.   they said they will mot call but called again.

Keeps calling by the name of Craig. Sounds rude and persistant.

Calls & leaves message about important matter, calls a lot, only work phone #. Giver reference No.

Has been calling my office a lot lately have have become more and more rude and combative.  They keep saying something about an account we have open with them that we need to settle.  They won't tell us what the account is for just that we need to settle it ASAP.

this # has called my house multiple times during the past few days and has now contacted my grand mother who lives more than 300 miles away from me and is making her concerned for my well being. if they what to talk to me they can contact my attorney

Called me at my work number.  Said his name was Mr. Halifax and that it was very important that I call this number. He was not rude, yet. I have asked and demanded of them (all this type of caller) that I get no calls at work.  Now I have lost my job, no doubt in part due to the calls, and there have been many. I enjoy the knowledge that my phone at home is disconnected and they can't call me as long as I have no phone.
