I received a call from this number and I let it go to my voicemail. The message was from Ann Kennedy with  International Incentives. The message is very similar to the ones above - my name had been drawn in a contest I (supposedly)  entered last year. My spouse & I won two round-trip tickets from Denver International Airport to my choice - Vegas, Orlando, or ...for 3 days, 2 nights. I needed to call back in 24 hours to claim it. I did not call back. Buyer beware.

I received this same call today.  I wanted to believe I'd really won a cruise, but I'm naturally skeptical of anything someone says is free. I daydreamed a little and then started thinking about how there were a couple of things that had me questioning the call.  First I don't remember being anywhere and entering a contest.  I kind of avoid those because I know the email info is used for spam and the phone number is used for scam.  Next the excited woman said it was two free vouchers (same deal, me and my spouse or someone else).  Well a voucher is not a ticket.  I'm glad I found this site and had my suspicions confirmed.

Just received this call on my cell. Restricted #.  Listened to vm.  American West saying I won after filling out something last year.  I won 2 flights from closest Intl. airport to Miami or Port Canaveral, for a 7 night cruise on Royal Cribbean or another popular cruise line.  I looked up the number online and got to this site.  Just as I thought...scamma...

I received the same VM an hour ago and last week my husband received vouchers from carnival for a free cruise that involved time share purchases. I work with the elderly and they become prey of scams like this all the time.

America West, 7 day/night cruise to the Caribbean out of Miami or Port Canaveral, choice of either Carnival or Royal Caribbean cruise lines, 2 free air tix to get there, 24 hours to respond. Maybe they figure if they start giving so many details it will get me to believe them and call. Uh, no. Contact the gov site mentioned on the last page and turn em in.

Lucky me?  I received this phone call also.  The number was blocked so the message so I let it go to voicemail.  Phone call was "exactly" as described by others.  Checked the number on line and found this site.   When it sounds to good to be true, 99.9% of the time it is.    Plus I don't have family members or friends who would sign me up for a trip.  They would sign themselves.

I got the same call today. 7 night/8day cruise leaving from baltimore, 24 hours to claim my prize. Someone in my family entered a drawing....etc etc. Glad I'm smart enough to google these things and I found this site. We didn't knowingly enter a contest for America West either. Oh and if you google "America West", no companies or information come up later than 2003.

I too am lucky as I got the 7/8 day offer from America West and have gotten the same call several time with only 24 hours to reply.  Hard to believe I actually entered and used my restricted work number for a contest, or one of my family members who don't use the number did...

Who or what is America West or American West?

I got a robocall (presumably) voicemail on my VOIP business line offering the presentation and free cruise/airline tix too; I responded and got the precise recording that "emily" posted on 7/12/11

[ See Emily's Post dated 7/12/11 regarding phone number: 877-309-1115].

The respond within 24 hours is a total hook, as I called back over a few days to try and get a convenient timeslot.  I left 2-3 messages, with no call back to confirm.

My radar went up upon reading these posts, so I checked it out as much as I could online, but could find nothing about "American West", nor could I locate 901 31st St,NW online.  Anyway, I went figuring that if it was non-existent, I could still enjoy dinner with my wife on the Georgetown waterfront.  Plus I had another errand to run closeby that evening.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the address is real, and there were a couple signs reading "Virgin Marketing Group" leading into an office suite where the sales show happens.  You go through ID check, fill out a [sales lead] sheet, are then escorted by a [feeler] into the war room where they small talk you until the main presenter shows.  The "refreshments" are water and coffee, period. He professionally presents a vacation club membership which seems enticing, but goes for $8,995, then at the end, the closers come in and tag-team you until you give in and buy, or tell them no firmly a few times.  We said no, were escorted into war room #2, waited a few minutes then were presented with our vouchers.  You can judge on the product's value, I think it's way too pricey to be part of a discount travel club wholesaler (Gold Crown Resorts), especially if you already have a timeshare(s) like we do.

A few notes: It seems that the companies' names are changed frequently to confuse customers and to hedge against liability(?).  You're robo-called by "American West" but the presenter is "virgin marketing group" and the certificates are processed by "Eagles Choice".  Seems like a lot of misdirection to me.

You do get the vouchers, BUT, there is a "$49 activation fee" per person (a total gouge), plus you're warned that taxes, fuel charges, "service fees", etc. can total "$179-$288" per person.  Thus, there is nothing "free" about these vouchers. Very much a bait and switch.  Plus, the voucher reads nothing about an "outside cabin" for which every cruiseline charges much more.

The airfare voucher similarly requires an "activation fee" of $35 per person, and warns of taxes, fuel charges, "service fees", etc. can total "$50-65" per person; again, not free at all.

The company you send the "activation fee" to (Eagles Choice) is at least registered and active with the state of VA, and appears legit, also has a decent website with a telephone number.

As for "American West", no trace of them has been found online by me as of now.  "Virgin Marketing" is not registered with the DC Corporations Office to exist or do business in DC.  Virgin's address shows up in online yellow pages as the same as Sunshine Promotions, LLC, which has a bad rep online.  Plus the telephones for Sunshine and Virgin are almost identical and probably ring in the same room.  Sunshine's tel. no. has a recording that informs they are no longer doing business in DC, but allows for messages.  Virgin's number is busy, and reportedly is constantly busy.

The way I see it, American west and Virgin are baiting and switching, and might be violating local and federal consumer laws while at it.  The vouchers are not what was promised on the robocall (which I recorded and listened to afterwards for comparison), and these companies should pay the difference to make good on their promise.  After all, if I had known what I know now about these silly vouchers, I probabaly would not have spent the time, gas, and energy to go to the presentation.

I encourage others who have had a similar experience to post on this website so that we can share information on these guys and try to level the playing field.  I'll post more to this and other relevant websites to try and spread the word.

In sum, it is an actual presentation in a real place, with an overpriced product and high-pressure sales, but the incentives that lure you in are not as promised.  I would not use the word "scam" (yet), but it's definitely "buyer beware."

Just got a call from them. Only, lucky me, it was a 7 night/ 8 day cruise to the Bahamas for me and my "spouse". Further proof that it's a scam: not only am I not married, this state doesn't recognize my partnership. Idiots....the scammers, not the state....well, that's questionable, too.

Unintelligible first name (sounds like Alice Larson), claiming to be from America West. The non-prize: a 3, night, 4-day Caribbean cruise leaving from Miami or Port Canaveral that I or a family member entered "last year."

The same as everybody. Won some air trip paid for by (what? who? ) and left a number to call back 702 444 4939

called than number, it is a prerecorded message

obviously it is a scam, if you dial any number - do not push any buttons, or  rather do not dial at at all. they ask you to accept terms and conditions (which ones?)

These folks called up my cell and played a recorded message letting me know my spouse and I won a free cruise from a drawing entered last year with free airline tickets from the airport closet to my home. I had only 24 hours to claim my prize. This is a scam that has been around for quite some time now.  I'm not married, and I never give out my cell number. They get your number by using an auto-dialer (which is illegal), they play their recorded message and take the credit card information of whoever calls back (although this company seems to be playing a recorded message when you call back as well and asks you to leave your phone number).  Your free cruise an airfare cannot be booked when you call them, they just have to get your credit card information into their system so you can claim the prize and leave a refundable deposit (deposit is not refundable). If you go through with this there are several taxes, fees and other costs that get piled on top of the deposit, so that you are the one paying for the cruise and airfare. All fees are paid to them, not to the cruise line or the airline. I cannot say this enough, this is a scam. Report them to your attorney general, then report them to the FCC.

Got the same call and the very rehearsed message said "my spouse" and I won a contest for  flight from my nearest airport to Orlando or Cape Canaveral to depart on a 3 night/4 day Caribbean cruise.

First of all, no spouse "yet". Secondly, don't remember entering any such contest. Lastly, if I'm on a cruise, I want to be on it longer than 3 nights/4 days. hah.

Using the link from ilwa to file a complaint with the FCC for telemarketing call to a wireless device.

Good day, everyone!
