I got a call from her today saying that I owed for some magazines I ordered about 3 years ago, like most of you I payed for a while and when I stopped getting them I stopped paying, she tried to say that "they" were gona send the cops to arrest me and that I would have to go to court, my parents were gona help me pay but we talked to my social worker and I talked to the local cops and a friend of mine and we figured out it was a scam and got her off my back. My dad told his friend at the county attorneys office about it, I don't know yet what is being done.

guys, i just want to let you know that i worked for these people for many years throughout college.  there are no lawsuits.  there have NEVER been any lawsuits.  there are only people who believe that they can get sued and pay up.  that's why this company is so rich.  all you have to do is file a complaint with your state's atty general office (i think you can actually download the form online).  once the complaint is received the file gets marked "atty general" and no more calls.  there is no "atty's office".  allan p mccarty is the owner's daughter's husband.  he is an atty, but he just lets the company use his name on letterhead for a nice chunk of change.  he has nothing to do with the company.  you may even be able to get away with just filing a complaint with the BBB; we didn't call those either.
im so sorry for the inconvenience your experiencing, but please rest assured tat the threats ARE empty.  just file that complaint ASAP and watch your phone calls cease, i promise you.  and please in the future simply say "im not interested, have a good day" and hang up when you receive sales calls!!! p.s.  the telemarkting companies that contract with allied have no regard to the do-not-call registry; dont be surprised if you are contacted again!!

I just got the same call.  She did not mention anything about a Iraqi guy, but she is trying to get me to give her my debit card number over the phone. 12/13/2007 12:53pm.

Hi, I just got the same scam. This lady is insane!!!!!!!! She told me she would sure me and would not even tell me who I owed money. This is a scam I do not owe anyone money!! I filed bankruptsy in 2005 and have not owed anything since. I was hung up on a few times and she would not give me number to call.

I'm getting the same thing but from a Christina Johnson. Phone # is 888-651-7944. I got the same Allied Publishing threat. Just like the posts at complainwire, It is tied to an address in Buffalo, NY. Each time she called me, She gave a different business name. All of the names she gave me for that address could not be found on the internet. When I asked why she said,"Well, we go by a number of different names"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RED FLAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are right!!  SHe hasn't called me since. Try complainwire.org and go under scams.  You'll see dept of legal services. There is alot of helpful info there.  You know what, she told me the same thing about the Iraqi guy and she said she was working on an abduction case.  Ha ha Yeah right!

Carol patterson is at it again with another number. She called me from this one yesterday.  She says she is working for some judges in NY and she is working on my case. Says i am being sued by Allied Publishers ( for magazines that I ordered like 5 years ago )  She says they want to take me to court for over $2000, for magazines i stoped getting in the mail.  She says i can settle the matter over the phone right now today with a credit card payment of $498.  I told her to send me a bill befor i would pay it and that i would not give her my credit card number over the phone.  She became really angry and started raising her voice. The whole time she was talking to me she was fumbling around with papers in the back ground, she was talking to her self to make her sound important( like there was someone else in the office with her.) She could not give me any other number to call and she was the only person i could talk to to settle this matter.  She at on point even told me i was acting like a little snot an hung up on me.  Called me back an hour later with the same crap.  This time she added that Allied Publishing was ran by an Iraqi guy and did I want my money going to the Iraqis or did i wan to just settle now over the phone.  Lady if very rude do not fall for her crap.  It is a scam. She has done this to many other people. There is a real Carol Patterson in New York who is an attorney, but this lady is only pretending to be here.  The real Carol Patterson was contacted by another person that this has happeded to and said this lady has done this in the past and they are working to catch here.  Hope they get her soon  she is a crazy, angry, old lady
