Whoever this is calls me about three or four times a day. When I answer, there is nothing, nobody. It's annoying and I'm now trying to figure out how to do a call block on my phone.

Get calls from this number at LEAST three times daily, from 7 am to 10 pm. No message has ever been left. I work from 6 in the morning to 4 pm then go to school until 10 at night...good luck reaching me whoever you are!

Didn't answer. Don't owe money. No voice mail left

Thus number calls and there is nothing on the line. Disconnects after 10 seconds of silence.

Got a call on my cell phone. The name of the person he said he wanted to speak with was my son. When I asked him what it was about he said it was a personal matter.  I wouldn't give him my sons' number nor my home phone number.  I asked if he could give me a number for my son to call back.  He gave me (888) 887-5430.  I looked up the number that was on my cell phone (913) 279-0462 on the Yellow Pages.  It gave me the name: Ruben Mendez, Kansas City, KS.  When I looked up the 888 number in the Yellow Pages it returned no results so I searched the number on Google and came to this site.

Please, how *exactly* can this be done?  Does this work for cell phones?  Thanks, I'd love to do this!

Clearly, the only brainless people are you. Recycled phone numbers exist, they are found by skip tracing. Collection agencies typically have multiple departments therefore you will typically receive multiple phone calls from multiple departments a day based off the fact that the person they are calling for has many debts. Perhaps if you answered the phone the first time instead of letting your phones ring all day like idiots and explained it was a wrong number, you wouldn't constantly hear it ring. Agencies are within their legal rights to call every TWO hours if there is no contact made. Also, most agencies don't purchase the debts, they are hired by companies to collect for them. Educate yourself before you whine and cry on the internet.

I am receiving much annoying calls from this no.  They leave no name, no message, just their call back no.  I have not called them.  I have no debts and there is nothing for me to call them back for.  It has reached a point that I am considering getting rid of my phone.

They leave heavy breathing messages on my answering maching.
No message, nothing other than the heavy breathing.....creepy.

My Aunt received several calls from these people harrassing them to get my number. I recognized the numbers. Call is from a lady name cindy and they keeping talking about some payday loans that I don't own.

They called trying to collect on a debt for a medical bill. They knew my home address and cell phone number.

Our home number is in the federal and California state do-not-call databases. In spite of that, a rude and abrupt caller demanded to speak to a family member who does not live here. He tried to order my wife to have the family member call CBE Group at 888-887-5430.

I just got a call from someone who left a number saying they were with CBE.  When I called back, it said the number was no longer taking incoming calls.

They called and asked for my 5 year old daughter. I assumed I had heard wrong and they were asking for her mother. I thought maybe it was her school since she just started and there was a problem so I told them who I was but they said they could only discuss the matter with her. So I guess they'll be asking her for her allowance and tooth fairy money for a debt that doesnt exist. Id like to know how these clowns got her information. Someone else said hospital or doctors sell the info and Id hope not but that would also make sense in this case. She was seen in the ER 2 weeks ago.

I also have been getting calls from this company. It is CBE group and it is a debt collection agency. However the person they were looking for in my case had not had this phone number for atleast 6 years now.

Message from Called ID # below, never leaves a name..."My # is 18888875430, please return my call"
This is to a new cell phone, kept by a minor...no financial history at all....why cant we block these calls?

"Please Return my call the number is 1-888-887-5430" - like I'm gonna call back some random person from my cell phone.

Caller told me to:  "Call Dave at 888-887-5430".  No reason why.  Caller ID:  CBE Group at 515-222-2918.  We have no collection problems!

They've been calling my house for 2 months.  I finally called it back to find out what they wanted, as I don't have anything in collections.  They are looking for my husbands EX wife.  They've been divorced over 11 years so I gave them quite an earful about trying to contact her through us.  They said they'd remove our number from her file but guess what??  They called back 3 days later.  I answered it that time and ripped the chick a new one.

Collection agency looking for someone I have never heard of.  Guy who answered was - I have to admit - apologetic and promised to remove the number.  Yeah...we'll see huh?

calls started 2 weeks ago and wont stop

they wont stop calling ahhhh even after i advised them that the person they are looking for dosent live here stop calling or i will get you may even be able to settle out of court.

I picked up and was put on hold. Shortly thereafter, I was connected to a woman who got angry at me from the get go. Weirdly, she acted like I was the one who called her.

She demanded that she speak with "Sierra." I told the caller that Sierra no lived here. She demanded a number.

I said I wasn't giving out Sierra's number and I asked where she was calling from.

She gave me this 888 number.

I had asked at least four times during this call who I was speaking to. She refused to identify her company, only saying that I should tell Sierra to ask for "Jodi."

Got a call on my landline phone which has no recorded message capability. They called about 7:30pm ET. I got a person and he said he was looking for someone who is not me. I took his number and asked the name of the group. He said CBE Group. So, I said "I will give her the message". But there is no one by that name here. I mean I have no recording on my landline phone. People can not leave a message on the phone. So, it is used to plug into the computer - you get static on the phone because of that. Phone number was 1888-887-5430.

I returned a call from this number today and stupidly gave them my social security number as I thought they were calling about a legitimate debt and I wanted to clear it up.  I was very hesitant to give her the number and almost didn't but she somehow caught me in a moment of weakness.  

She ended up claiming that they were looking for a different person with the same name.  My hope is that they are trying to collect a debt and they really have no idea who the person is so they try to force you to give your social security number to them as the easiest way to identify whether or not you are the person they are after.

But I'm also concerned it could just be an identify theft scam.  Does anybody know for sure?  I'm going to call 1-877-ID-THEFT to find out what to do next.  I feel so stupid and a little bit ashamed just admitting what I did.  I hope someone else will read this and be reminded to never give out your social security number.
