Debt Collector
Just got a message from them. 15 years ago I had to deal with these monsters when I was cleaning up my old CC debt. I have been debt free for over a decade now, and my credit score is great. There is absolutely no reason for these jerks to call me. I agree with everything that 'What A Joke! LOL' and 'bhg' posted -- this is a SCAM! Never give out personal info to anyone over the phone, even *real* debt collectors. If you didn't place the call, they have no right to ask for your information. I have put this number on my blocked list, and double-checked the DO NOT CALL registry: https://www.donotcall.gov.

If they ever actually reach me on the phone by some miracle, they'd better be prepared to go to court.

I'm talking to you, "bill smith" above...

NCO is a junk debt buyer that re-ages debts for the purpose of being able to continue to report old debts which have expired either under the state Statute of Limitations for collections or the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

These people will try anything to get you to respond!

Remember, if you talk to them (which you should NEVER do over the phone), they're push you into a payment plan.  By paying the amount this 'person' CLAIMS is yours, you are essentially stating that the debt is yours...when there is a possiblity it may not be.

ALWAYS ask to have the 'assumed' debt placed in writing and sent to your home or business.  NEVER agree to payment plans over the phone without getting it in writing first.  If the person contacting you doesn't agree then you shouldn't move forward.  By having information in writing, it works for both parties.  Most of all with the economy being as bad as it is, know that you're NOT the only one out there with the same concerns...relax, do what you can do, when you can do it.

I just recieved a call at my office from a 1-800 number I did not recognize and did not pick-up. The person calling left me a message in a low and hard to understand tone of voice indicating that I should call her immediately at 888-899-8034 using reference # KK0101 to settle and reach a "voluntary agreement" on a very important transactional matter. Past experiences made my look this number up on the Web and I stumbled upon this page (among others). Now at least I'm sure this is a scam of some sort and I know that I should not answer and/or provide any typoe of information to anyone calling in a similar fashion.
If anyone can shed some light in terms of the actual origin of this number it would be great to see if we could jointly put some of these clowns behind bars even if for a short period of time/

This is Obviously a SCAM!!  My Mother passed away and the very next day after her obituary was in the paper I got a message on her phone from 888-899-8034, name Mark Smith with NCO Debt Collections stating they've been trying to collect a debt from my Mother.  My Mother owed No Body any money when she passed away.  On top of that, she lived with me and I got all the mail and there was NEVER any correspondance from this company looking for money.  Obviously, they saw the obit and are now trying to scam money from her estate. Needless to say, I never called them back.  They have not called again, but if they do I will be contacting my lawyer to deal with them!

I got a call from 888-899-8034.  They are NCL Finc. who is a debt collector.  The person whom I was speaking with told me that they were collecting for Citi Bank, whom I do have a valid debt with.  The agent asked me if I had gotten the summons in the mail, and I advised him that I had gotten nothing from them or Citi.  A collections agency can not send a summons anyway, only a law office can and a law office would try to collect on the debt before sending a summons.  The agent I was speaking with was very rude and wouldnt allow me to speak at all, telling me I owed a debt and I had to pay it, and asked me to pay a large lump sum in 2 weeks.  When I told him if I had that kind of money I wouldnt be getting calls from them, he told me "well thats fine, you just got yourself sued" and hung up on me.  When I called back I got another agent that told me the previous rep told him to tell me that I was being sued.  This agent wouldnt allow me to speak either, continued telling me I was being rude when I was trying to speak, I was not yelling or cursing but trying to figure out what could be done, and this agent also asked me for the large lump sum even after he told me they would try to negotiate with me.  Asking for the total amount due withen 2 weeks is not negotiation.  This agent told me I was being uncooperative and also hung up on me.  When I called back I got the agent I had the first time, and when I asked to speak to a higher up he refused repeatedly, and then he told me he would transfer me, and repeatedly asked if I understood, and I responded with "I do, I am not stupid" this agent then said "oh well you just messed up and now I wont transfer you".  Eventually he did transfer me to a Mark Smith who is a higher up apparntly, but I suspect it is just another agent playing games.  He allowed me to speak for about 2 minutes to explain the previous interactions and then began raising his voice, speaking over me, talking to me like I was a child, wouldnt allow me to speak even when I was saying "excuse me, hold on, please let me speak, and then he told me he would not talk to me and hung up on me.  I have contacted the Federal Trade Commision at 18773824357 and made a complaint against this company.

Received a call from a Mr. Ivory concerning my brother and a possible legal matter with Citi Bank.  My brother does not have any dealings with Citi Bank. Then he proceeded to tell me his birthday and full name which was not correct.  He mentioned to call back at 1-888-899-8034 but the phone ID said that he called from 716-636-1588.

I have had a Mr.Kay call my business line leaving me a message with my secretary stating I had better give him a call back with ref. number **** it's in my best interest or else. Oooh.... This was last week, Today I come home and there is a note on my door from my neighbor saying call Mr.Kay before 4:00. What in the hell is this Mr.Kay doing at or around my home and talking to my neighbors. I don't know what debt this may be nor do I really care now. Mr.Kay comes around my home again he had better come with more than        a reference number and a piece of paper. I will be calling the police for harassment and trespassing.

I suspect some scam. I am 18 years old and am receiving harrassing telephone calls from these people who claim I owe a debt from 2 years ago. I am 18 years which would have made me 16 years old at the time of the debt! I will be taking the appropriate legal action against NCO Group!
