this sounds like PPVC under a new name.don't give them anything! if they had a leg to stand on they would have sent you a letter certified mail. write them a validation letter certified mail if they don't stop let them sue you and when you stand before the judge show the returned receipt and a copy of your letter.they are a scam collection agency. bottom feeder.

They were required to MAIL you notice of the alleged debt by U.S. Mail within 5 days of their first contact.  That would have provided their address to which you could mail a requrest for validation, as required by FDCPA.

Email doesn't cut it, and when you never even received anything, it's probably just a fake claim anyway.

Contact a consumer attorney, as they appear to be engaged in numerous violations of FDCPA.  You can find an attorney in your state through www.naca.net

A threatening message was left on my wifes phone stating a uniformed officer would be at my home or place of employmeny within 2 hours if I did not call the number left, 888-477-7061, with a summons and left a case number. When I called and spoke with the person I was told I was being sued over an old dept and that I could recieve a lein on all my assets if I went to court and would fe forced to pay over 1500.00, the original credit card had a limit of 300.00. However If I paid 760 over the phone in one or two payments then my debt would be wiped clean. I gave my card information. After I hung up I started to research the company and found their activity could possibly be a scam and even illegal so I called my bank and cancelled my card before they charged anything. I received a angry phony call a short while later telling me that I gave fraudulant information to the company and they could persue charges over that. I informed them that I was concerned that they were not a legit company so I requested that I recieve something physical in writing stating what I owe and I would be happy to pay/make payments. I was told that she had sent an email already, which I never recieved but refused to send any standard mail. I was told I had 24 hours to pay and then action would be persued against me andI would have to go to court.

I am so afraid that they are scam.  Why don't they answer the phone like a regular business phone?  I sent them a payment, and never received a paid in full letter yet. I have been waiting for 3 weeks.  I am still waiting.  My credit report hasn't been updated I know it takes 30-45 days, but I still want my paid in full letter.

I have been sued for a repossesion of a car before when i was younger, i was never "served" papers because it was a civil matter. I was sent a certified letter of my court date.
These people are ridicoulous!!! Since i have filed the complaints that i did, the phone calls have stopped.

Don't know if that is why but hey it works for me. I also contacted the creditor they were claiming they were working for and stated i had one account with them and it is in good standing!

So yeah these guys are total scammers!

Just got another call from that number today on my voicemail at work.  It's very funny how they're so careful of what they say when they know it's being recorded but when you speak to them directly it's a nasty little conversation, a little degrading and bullying.  I am going to call them back when my boss leaves this afternoon and let them know they are not to contact me at my job ever again, that I have spoken with an attorney and the state Attorney General's office and have been advised not to deal with them at all because they are obviously scamming and was told to file a complaint with the FTC.  I will also let them know that the telephone call is being recorded.  It's funny how the conversation I had with them I was given until 2/15 and today's voicemail said it was until the end of the business day today or they would have to "proceed".  I'm going to tell them to do what they have to do and I will do what I have to do and to have a nice day!!!

If you're the type who's inclined to have some fun with these folks, when they threaten to show up at your door or workplace to serve you (knowing that if someone is actually going to serve you they won't tell you ahead of time, and that debts are civil and not criminal matters anyway) go along with it. Ask them if you should leave the porch light on, or offer to serve coffee when they get there. Since they base their scam on scaring people into paying, it'd be interesting to see how they react when someone isn't afraid.

Got a call from these idiots the other night and I told the lady that I did not owe any bills and that I had contact the Attorney General's Office, the Fulton County Courthouse and the Fulton County District Attorney's office on them and the courthouse and district attorney's office had no record of me being summoned to court and they told me to ignore these calls because they were scams.  So she hung up quickly after I told her that.  So don't give in to these scammers.  They are trying to get your money for their benefit.

They're scammers.  They'll try to intimidate you with a threatening call or voice mail, and then try to coax personal info. from you.  Just ignore them, or make fun of their mothers...whichever is more fun!  Nothing wrong with harassing them back!  :)

Just received a call from this Direct Resource Capital stating that they wanted to serve me with papers to appear in court.  I asked her what for and she replied that is was a private matter.  I told her that I had gotten calls like this from DRC and that I owe no bills.  I told her that I had been in contact with my lawyer regarding these calls and the Attorney General's Office and the Fulton County courthouse and I know that this is a scam.  She hung up on me.

Thanks...they are so threatening and fear-invoking.  I wish California could find a way to shut these people down.  Since they lie I contemplated telling them I just found out I was stage IV ovarian cancer and anything they wanted to do to me was pretty much pointless!!  But, I thought better of it...didn't want to call anything up if ya know what I mean.  I've decided not to play into their fear games and I'm not giving them a dime.

I did call the original creditor and tried my very best to pay them.  They told me the account has been closed and they will no longer accept my money.  In my mind that means they wrote my debt off as a loss and filed against some type of insurance their company has...so, these people at D.R.C.C. are not "in to me" for any money nor do they have a vested interest in getting it from me!!

They can kiss my grits!!

Do NOT pay these people...do NOT take out a loan against your car.
Record their calls and sue them.  They are crooks and cannot do anything other
than threaten...next time Ryan calls, tell him "Bring it on scooter"...and hang up...

Do you have to inform them that you are reporting them to the FTC before doing it or can you go ahead and report?

They called my family and disclosed private information about my finances to them and had them all upset which I do not appreciate.  To my knowledge no contact has been made with my place of employment.

I was so scared upon receiving the phone call I was considering taking a loan out against my car to pay them, but have read so much online about them being sketcy I've decided not to pay them a dime.  I did call Household Bank and asked them I could not pay them but they refused.  If I can't pay who I originally owed the money to then why would I pay these shady people.  And, not once did they say the customay, "This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose."  Why is that?  Also, how can they pull your credit report?  I listened to the You Tube post of the recorded phone conversation by Ryan and it sounded just like the one I had...obviously scripted.

I was threatened with being served at my work by a police officer and a process server with a summons, being sued and having my wages garnished.

It seems to be with Household Bank accounts - has anyone had this happen with other creditors?

Have you done anything at this point?  I'm still in limbo and have been given a little time to reply with a credit card!!!  They have me terrified that they'll come to my work and get me fired or something!  Can they actually take you to court.  Would they go to that trouble and expense??  Also, if they purchase these accounts for pennies on the dollar, do they even have a leg to legally stand on when the debt was written off as a loss by the actual creditor and the statute of limitations has run out in your particular state on it?  Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
