Just wanted to say thank you for the posts, My husband received a telephone Call to our home phone from a company supposedly named the Steel Group. Had we not done a reverse look up on the address and saw these posts he would have driven 150 miles one way for no reason. we can't verify this was the same phone number that called him, but they gave him the same address on 9378 Olive Blvd. How sad that such A- Holes exist. Beware people they don't just text anymore.

i receive a text message from 3108828747 asking me to call 888-907-4487 in regards to a receptionist position I applied for.

I got a suspicious text from them as well. Apparently, they use your first name to disarm you and ask you a bunch of BS questions. Bottom line, they are not the employer and most likely phishing on Craigslist ( a scammer's paradise) . I did speak with them and only answered a few questions.

The creepy thing is that they have all of my information on their data base. I checked out their address from the email and the directory doesn't list them.

Here is the email I got from them:

I applied for a job at a vet clinic via Craigslist in North Jersey. I got a text from 646-483-3646 to call 888-907-0619. It looks like its another Craigslist scam. Thanks to all who posted.

I got the same thing!!! Glad I checked because it just sounded weird...A text message from 646-483-3646 saying to call 888-907-4197. i called from another number and they asked for the number I put on the application...I hung up. Just like everyone else said why wouldn't they call you or email you??? It has to be a scam of some sorts...Has to be craigslist...I am not a detective, but I definitely see a common thread between all of us..:)

Applied for several jobs on craigslist.  Got a call this morning from a "Melissa" calling from 314-369-4174.
Asked if I was still seeking employment, and could I come in tomorrow for an interview at 10:30 to 9378 Olive Blvd Ste 301, Olivette MO.  When I looked up the address there is no company listed by the name of American Company. Also when I called the number back, its a personal phone number with the name of Morgan on it.... Beware this is a scam!!!!!

Got the same thing.  I live in Colorado Springs, but I did apply for a position.  They new my name and the position I applied for.  I found it incredibly wierd that a potential employer would send a text from one phone number and have me call a different number.  A professional would have called me.  Obviously a scam!

Thanks everyone for posting these. I recieved a similar text about an Admin position telling me to call 888-907-4193. I need a job so badly, who knows what information I would have given them! Glad I looked it up.

801 is a Utah Area code and anyone who texts you about a job application is unprofessional. I got the same text. Not interested and think it's a scam.

I was texted the following.

"Hi Xavier, I just reviewed your application for the Guard position you applied for. Please call me at 888-907-4887"

 It was text from this number "646-483-3646."  So I said screw it let me call when I called they already knew my name and so I asked what company is this and the lady said some weird sounding name but whatever as we spoke a little more she says "we will have to verify some of the information on your application this will take 45min over the phone, do you have the time now or do you want to call us back?"  At this point this was getting weird and I said no ill back but I'm not.  Yes I apply to a lot of jobs on craigslist and this is one of the few times this sorta thing happens 1/100 isn't bad so ill keep using craigslist, I just know better then to fall for this kinda crap.

Same here, I applyed for a job through craigslist and received a text message saying to call a 888 number...nope wont be doing that. Thank you for your postings I will not be calling them, they could of called me rather then send me a text..skevey.

I applied for lots of jobs on Craigslist.  just got the text from 310-882-8747 saying to call 888-907-4887 regarding the receptionist position.

Yea just got the text today - from 214-784-4159. It is so hard to be out there looking for a job and these kinds of things are going on. This is not the first one I have had. I decided to check the number out and it brought me to this site. Not nice they are.

I received a text from 214-784-4159 regarding an application for a customer service position.  They asked that I call 888-907-4887.  Started with "Hi Monica"  I texted back, "Sure.  Just to refresh my memory, what company do you represent?"  No response.  I suspect it's a scam.

Same here.  I applied for a job on craigslist in CO today and got the same as above to call 888-907-4887. From 801-386-6793.  I did not call back.  This is the 2nd scam.  This is just sad.

Applied for a job on craigslist in WA and today I got a text from same 8013866793 number telling me to call the 888 number.  Had the same thought of if they have my email and phone number why in the hell are they texting... I never mentioned I have a mobile number and I text.  This has to be a scam!

I got the same message from 801-386-6793 to call the 888 #.  I apply for dozens of jobs a week through craigslist and decided not to call back since they have both my email and phone # to contact me (via text is very odd).  Since I live in WA I thought the area code was weird so I decided to try and do a reverse lookup on it and found these postings.  Definitely NOT calling these people back.

Got the same text and called the number back, they answered saying Hi Morgan.  Really weird.  I asked who the job application was with, she said Employment Network.  I told her I had never applied for a job with such a place and hung up.  I think its a scam......
