I recieved a call from this number the other day and was extremely skeptical about it right from the start. I thought though, what the heck, might as well see what they are offering. I discovered that I was over spending on my internet by $30 and I also went from being at a 7M/896k to being at a 12M/5M. So long story short I am paying less monthly, bill increased a couple dollars with CL, and am also getting much better service. THANK YOU CENTURYLINK!

This was a call about our CenturyLink account.  Informed us that they had a new DSL plan that would increase our speed at no additional cost, they just needed our permission.  It seemed like a scam at first (too good to be true), so I called the customer service number on our CenturyLink phone bill.  The rep confirmed that this was indeed a valid promotion and immediately set up our faster service at no cost. Went from 1.5meg to 7meg. Nice.

They called and asked to speak to the owner claiming to be with Century Link (Qwest), but when I asked if they could give me the name of the owner, they could not.  Would seem to me that if they are legit, they'd have this information as it is certainly in our file with the phone company.  They gave me some BS about why they didn't have his name, so I said that since they did not have the name, it was my beleif that this is a scam of some sort.  The guy cussed me out, so I hung up.  The cussing reaffirmed my beleif that this is a scam.

Some people have started to say (as they just did here), that they're saying CenturyLink now (they just bought Qwest). CID reads "TOLL FREE". Message passed to me was that "they needed to talk to the person in charge of the phone account -- offering a big discount for the same services we already have."

Okay that's just stupid. unless there is a reason (which you would know before them) that they stand to lose you as a customer, why would any business under capitalism volunteer to make less money from you, when everything has been fine?

This number keeps calling, and when I pick up the phone they hang up.

This normally would happen when our office is in a staff meeting, and of course nothing would go to voicemail.

The number called early today, so I called back! I got a live answer from someone at Century Link and told him not to call us anymore, so hopefully that worked...

Century Link/Qwest calls pretty much daily (multiple times) and hangs up once we pick up the phone.  I *69'd the number and called them back.  Got an actual customer service person who told me they have been trying to reach us so they can review our current phone package and inform us of upgrades.  I told her we aren't interested and to stop placing those calls to us.  She said she would make sure we didn't get anymore calls so we'll see.

We get calls from this number at least twice a day.  As soon as I begin to talk, there's a loud click as we are disconnected.  If I just pick up the receiver and don't say anything, the caller doesn't hang up right away.

I GET CALLS EVERYDAY FROM THIS NUMBER, TO MY BUSINESS.  I SPOKE WITH THEM A FEW MONTHS AGO.  THEY CLAIM THEY CAN MAKE OUR PHONE BILL/LONG DISTANCE LOWER. MY LAST BILL WAS ALMOST $200 HIGHER, THEY SAY THEY ARE WITH CENTURYLINK, WHICH USE TO BE QWEST. ATLEAST IN ARIZONA.  SO I CALLED CENTURYLINK AND HAD ALL OF THEIR CHARGES REMOVED FROM MY BILL.  SO I ASSUME THATS WHY THEY CALL EVERYDAY.  ONLY MAKE SWITCHES TO ANY OF YOUR BILLS WHEN YOU CALLED THEM, NOT WHEN SOMEONE CALL YOU.  LESSON LEARNED!

These people are pushy and rude.  THEY ARE NOT QWEST or CENTURY LINK and they get kind of pissy when suggest they are an outside vendor.  Anyhow, if you want to change your service I would suggest calling the # on your monthly bill instead of dealing with these outside vendors... nothing good can come of it.

Thanks for the tip. One would think they would do this for you automatically to protect their customers so that scams like this do not continue to happen to unsuspecting people and businesses. Maybe they somehow benefit by not protecting their customers. Who knows...but I'm going to call them (Century Link now) and request that they lock or freeze the account to prevent this from happening.

Said they were calling to talk to the person who handles Century Link acct. that they are hired by the processor to review the acct. Told her they Century link already did that and to take me off the list. Asked for my name and I said you have my #. Be sure to ask if they are a direct employee of CL, usually they aren't. We'll see it that works. Sometimes I just pick up the phone and don't say anything or put it on speaker and wait until they hang up. Next time I may pretend I am being attacked  by something and see how they respond. I am getting sick of this.

Wow, are you hostile or what?? You should probably see a doctor for all of the anger that is seaping from your fingertips. I don't work for this company but I will say that you are off base by talking like thay. I read what Justme said and they did not at any point say they worked for the company that uses this number. They were just stating what they thought to be facts which to a degree I can see to be accurate, we all have jobs, we all go to work daily to pay our bills and support our familieis. Some people do what they do because it gives them the opportunity to their strengths shine through with less judgement. I am sure that if you didn't like what you do you would make some changes in your life and find a better avenue that makes you happier over all. Others on the other hand choose the line of work they are in for a more personal reason. I knew someone personally that was a telemarketer for a long time and one day I asked him. "Why do you do what you do,  all I ever hear you talk about is how stressful your job is and how you wish you could do something different in life." His response was simple and very sad "I do this because I don't qualify for disability and I can't get state assistance for medical because I am not fully paralyzed, this job offers me health insurance and at the end of the day I know that my family will be taken care of when I am gone one day." He was the kindest person I had ever had the opportunity to know and work with. He passed away a couple years ago from two rare diseases that effected his central nervous system and his bones. Now I didn't tell you this for any other reaoson than what I am about to say,  don't be so quick to judge because someone elses battles may be more trying than those you carry. I fully know that telemarketing calls are annoying that is why I don't do it anymore, I just suggest that you try a different approach than the hostile and vulgar language, its not a good way to get through to anyone its also not good for your own health, so that for one should be important to you.

First and foremost, I do not think your statement is fully forth coming. Qwest is not Quest, and yes there are companies out there that to scam people but I honestly don't think that is the case. Besides if you aren't the person that makes decisions for said services LEGALLY no one from any company related to your alligations can provide you the information you disclosed why you ask,  the answer is simple you have no authorization to do so.

It is not USBI, USBI is a 3rd party biller authorized by Qwest to share billing statements. The phone number in question is a vendor of Qwest and they only call customers that have services with Qwest. Its kind of like these smaller insurance providers in your local community that sell insurance policies to customers for larger providers like Progressive, State Farm etc. Majority of larger companies nationwide out source these types of options to help promote the changes that have become available. Also, keep in mind one thing. You can always protect yourself by putting a password on your account to prevent dishonest individuals from changing services without your permission. It is also important to have the representative verify something only your service provider would know, such as the customer code associated with your account. This information is confidential only you and Qwest have access to this information.  I have worked in the telecommunication field for years and have many ideas on how to assist customers in how to identify the good people from the bad when it comes to the phone sales.

I called the number Qwest gives on their bill about another matter regarding our business line.  While I had a person on the line, I asked her about this 888 number and the calls from it.  She told me it was NOT Qwest, and the way to cut these people off at the knees is to ask for your customer number that appears on your bill.  It's a 3 digit number (mine also has a letter) that comes right after your account number.  If they can't answer that, they are not from Qwest nor are they calling on behalf of Qwest.  Anybody here who says they are legit is a scammer.

It was Qwest calling, but the conversation quickly turned to whether Barack Obama wears boxers or briefs. It was my belief that he wears girls silk thongs, but the Qwest person said that he actually wears a Kenyan genital cuff since that was part of the dream that his father had. However it was interesting to note that Michelle wears a very tight speedo to hid that fact that she/he is a tranny.  Go figure. I didn't end up signing on to any new Qwest services, but had a good conversation.

We got a call from this number but the "person in charge of the quest account" was not in.
So these guys called back again today! The person in charge still wasn't in, so I asked for a name and number to call back on.

She said the number was 888-920-4006 and I asked who I should ask for and she said Suzanne.

Funny thing, she NEVER actually said she was from or calling on behalf of Quest. Tell me if I'm wrong, but when Quest calls, they ALWAYS identify themselves. It's common courtesy.

Anyway, I called the regular quest support line (1 800-603-6000) and asked them about it. At first the (very helpful!) CSR just called the scammer's number long enough to hear the greeting that says its Quest and then the CSR said to me "Yeah, that's us."  But when I explained that a lot of people on the internet were getting calls from that number and they thought it was a scam, the CSR (Customer Service Representative) did some more checking.

She checked their directory and found that the number was not listed - and does not appear to be a quest company phone number!

She said she was going to pass the number on to the legal department.

She said that a lot of companies are claiming falsely to be Quest in order to scam people, and that they have to routinely use legal force to shut them down, basically.
