I received a call at my work (which happens to be a public school) stating that a Anthony Martinez from Nationwide Processors was looking for me and was threatening to serve me with papers. They would not mention what for or why but my administrator flat out told them they better not. Apparently the phone number of 888-997-1017 is nothing but a scam. I called this morning just to see what they would say but luckily all I got was a voicemail stating "This is ARG...." So if anyone gets a call from a Anthony Martinez from Nationwide Processes, file a complaint with your local attorney general's office and/or the BBB. These people are trying to scare people into believing they owe money but will not send you the proof. Report them and prevent innocent people like myself who work hard for their money from being scammed by these criminals with no life.

Received a call from "Michael Miranda", from a different number. He said there was a complaint against me, and to avoid pending action, I had to 888-997-1017 to speak to the issuing agent with a file number. It was "very important", and otherwise supposedly urgent. I know I have nothing against me, and have not been served with anything. They also called my husband saying they had some appointment with us for tomorrow for "legal documents". Haven't called back. Seems like this is getting around a little too much for my taste!

I looked up the number after getting this call. Then I found all of these, and it seems to be a scam of some sort. I've decided not to call back and let the chips fall where they may.

My dad just called me and said I was supposed to call 888-997-1017 and reference a case number.  He got the call on his house phone (I briefly lived with them last summer).  He said the guy said he was from the "processor's office."  What is that???  I'm sure glad I googled the number before calling!!!

I got this call to twice today from rosa lopez. she called my cell, which the number is 1200 miles in a different state and region from where i live. she left a message stateing the same info as everyone else got. then she immediately called my husband cell phone looking for me.  nothing on the house phone, different state area code. First of all, the call number was BLOCKED on my cell and his too. she called me again tonight and then his phone right after. we did not answer any of them. Second, i dont even have one single bill in my name household bill in my name. and i dont even have a credit card. (don't want one). So if they are going to find me, good luck.  Most likely this is some kind of scam. I remember getting these phone call several years back and i still have not been served or jailed yet.  I work with a lady who does collections full time. she says if it was a debt collector they would state that they are calling to collect a debt. Really, a complaint, who says complaint to collect a debt. Bunch of scammers trying to get money for something or delete your bank accounts out. People we all know what are debt is and what we owe. If they can not tell you what it is for, its not true. Do not give them any info. Debt collectors are not allowed to threaten people, use foul language, they can be suited for that. I would not even call the number back. who the hell know what info they can get off your phone number and accounts link to your cell phone. Be aware.

The mysterious Troy O'Neal also called me, from a company called URG. When I called back they said no one by that name worked there, but connected me to some other liar...er, I mean so-called "lawyer." After talking he said "Mr. O'Neal ishandling your case." I said "Your receptionist just told me no one by that name works there." He said, "Oh." Anyway, he gave me some song and dance about I had a judgment rendered against me and was being served. I told him, "No one gets papers served on them after a judgment, dumb a**. They're supposed to be served PRIOR to the action." Then he made up the name of some banl  said they sued me for 2025.78. I told him I knew he was a scammer amnd would report him to the California State Attorney General.

I just received the same call on both my home phone and my cell phone. Letting me know I needed to get ahold of them ASAP because of me going to get a summons to court. These scammers need to be caught and arrested and you have some folk's out here with medical problems that don't need to be having heart attacks and stuff over harrassment calls from scanners and crap. What ever happened to the thing called "INVASION OF PRIVACY"? They have certainly done it to enough folk's here. That is suppose to be "AGAINST THE LAW ALSO"! I have unlisted phone numbers. Or at least I thought I did. And then for these scammers to call here and ask for me by name. That is just to much privacy invasion to me. My daughter told me they ask for me by name and took the messages and I got on my computer and kicked in this phone number and it lead me to this page. Something really needs to be done! Where is the Justice for the folk's having their privacy invaded?

Got a two calls on separate lines from these people. Obvious scam. Impressed they could put those 2 numbers together as they are not easily connectable.

BTW as far as scams go, this one is not very good. Blocked phone numbers, bad voices, etc.

Same call described as the ones above. hey called three family members in the same day. Sara Castro left a message saying that a family member was supposed to call the office back and reference a number. Said that there was a complaint being filed against her and that it was urgent that she call them back. I called the number to find out more information and there was a brief message about RJ Office or something similar to that.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I've gotten a phone call from Sara Clark and I just gave her a piece of my mind. Never once did they say this call was being recorded, and when I told them that I was recording this conversation, they justtried to avoid the situation. The guy I spoke to called me a liar. His exact words were, " I think you're lying about having a lawyer." Professionals don't talk like that.if they can figure out every number to contact me at, then they can figure out where to find me.

My FATHER received a voicemail from Troy O'Neal.  Left the case number and where calling from.  Called back. Transferred me to a Thomas and spoke with him. I was not happy to hear that they called my dad.  He advised that I had a judgment in my name.  Asked if I had been served...I had not.  Thereafter, I asked for the date of default...was well past 3 years and statute of limitations. Then asked for where and when the complaint was filed and he couldn't tell me and advised that the process server had that information. I then questioned him as to why they didn't have this information on file.  Furthermore, I advised him that I had already searched the databases for the possible two counties they may have filed in and could not find anything.

I don't know who or what they are but I did call and left a message.  I guess I will find out soon.

Even money says the coughing is well rehearsed. Transparency is the last thing these extortionists want.

The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. As early as possible it's critical to determine if your collector is domestic or yet another South Asian faker. The former you can sue into submission; the latter tend to be out of reach.

My notes from October 2011 on payday loan and "hot check" collectors are linked below.

I just received a call today 4/10/2013 at 8:43AM left a message.  Saying this message is urgent my name is Tony O'nell.  There's a complaint against you and you need to call as soon as possible to adress this matter. the number to call is (888) 997 1017  Your record number is 1900869.  I don't buy it because the person leaving the message sounds like a teenager who's on crack.  Who keep coughing when he's trying to leave the company's name which I can't understand, but when he leaves the phone number and record number is was crystal clear.

I just received a voice mail from Sarah Clarke at this number stating that a complaint had been filed against (a family member of mine who they named specifically) and the complaint had been forwarded to her office and that he must call 1 888 997 1017 and reference the case number. Said it was a time sensative matter. Never stated who she was with. I called the number and they claimed to be an answering service for URG but refused to say the full name of the company or what it was in reference to, just kept trying to get my case number or my last name. I just hung up. I think they are not legitimate.
