My mom has gotten tons of calls, at least once a day, from AFFCWA, but the number they use here (local to Charlotte) is 704-817-0535.  She is also on the Do Not Call list.

I received calls from this # asking for my husband and when I said he wasn't available they said they would call back later.  I asked what the call was concerning and he said no - he wasn't trying to be obnoxious and then hung up.  My number is on the Do Not Call List.

I am getting the same Charlotte number - 704-817-0535 - with the Caller ID AFFCWA. We never answer it, but we receive calls from them all the time.

They have called everyday for 3-4 days ,wont ever talk, just hangs up. I am on the do not call list, but doesnt help. THey have also used two different  numbers.

i got my first call today, and did not answer. it should be noted that this call is from affcwa, but the legit non-profit is afca. i would be suspicious that this call is not actually coming from the legit charity.

call the charity and ask them to put you on their do not call list.  they will do it.  the do not call registry list does not pertain to charities, which is why you have to call them to ask you to be removed from their own calling list.

these 2 registers in my caller id  "AFFCWA & MOPHSF" has been calling everyday more than 3x/day if i don't answer the phone call. then our answering machine will pick it up but they don't leave any message at all, that's how i know it's just another telemarketer/charitable type of call.

Absolutely call the charity to report unwanted phone calls.  They will immediately remove your name from the calling list. I called them and they were real nice when they helped me. Just because you are on the DO NOT CALL list does not mean you won't get calls from charities or firemen or police or things like that.  You need to call them directly to be removed.

"Do Not Call" doesn't apply to political parties or charities. The fastest way to get it fixed is to call the charity directly. They are the ones who can get you off their charity call list.  They can get rude callers fired, too.  There must be some payoff for the charities and political parties in this because there is no way the politicians would risk pissing off so many people just to raise a few pennies for their massive campaign expenses.

901 is based out in Memphis Tennessee and part of Southwest Tennessee.

This charity was founded by Pediatric AIDS Canada. It has been the subject of numerous media stories in Canada,where they have been decribed as a "controversial charity" and a "bittersweet charity". They rely very heavily on telemarketing services provided by a Canadian based telemarketing firm called XENTEL, that has call centres located throughout the USA. They are known for their aggressive and persistent telemarketing. Only a small portion of the total amount raised actually goes to the charity. Do some google research with the name XENTEL and you can find a host of stories and complaints about their tactics.

these people call at all hours and days of the week I have an unpublished phone number whats the point then the guy on the other end makes you fell bad because you can't donate money we do well enough to support our own family I truly believe this is a scam.

Have gotten several calls in the last three days from this number.  As noted above, they are not available on the reverse phone search.  I assume they are using a "charity" as a way to avoid the "Do Not Call" restrictions.  Pretty annoying.  You can go on the Tennessee Do Not Call website and make out a complaint.  I think I will, just because this is really annoying.

I keep getting the calls from the same number.  I search google for American Foundation for Children with AIDS which one of you posted above.  On  Charity reports they have a report on AFFCWA. They are lagit charity but I don't know how they get around the national and Tennessee o Not Call List.

I had the same thing happen.  They call everyday and finally I picked up, they asked for my husband, when I said that he was not here, they hung up.  Very strange.

Why do we have a DO NOT CALL LIST if these clowns can break through the system and call?  Why does the FCC not protect us by cutting their communication capability?  I am tired of the harassment from this and other unscrupulous organizations. I'm sick of laws made to protect the guilty.

Call and hang up several times at all hours

I have received 4 calls in 3 days from 1-901-562-1608 in 3 days. I do not wish to continue recieving these calls. No message is left.

I received a call from this number.  They asked for my husband, then hung-up when told he was not here.  I called the number back and a recorded message said "This is the American Foundation for Children with AIDS and we are trying to reach you to discuss some of our important programs.  We will try to reach you again."

Calls received with i.d. AFFCWA, same as previous posts; no msg left.  Reverse search revealed Memphis area code. Name associated with the number is unlisted but is available via INTELIUS, but they want $15 for info.  :^(

I received four calls in three days,no message given. I could not trace (search) the number, nor the meaning of AFFCWA.
