Has anyone else in NS been getting calls from 902-482-1380?
This group has been active since at least the Fall, placing a number of calls per day, usually in the evening around 5ish or later. Sometimes they ask for a random person, sometimes they pretend to be the Police Association of NS, or sometimes they just hang up.
There is never an answer on the other end, just a message service that gives no name or information.
If you have Eastlink you can use *60 and follow the directions to block a number from calling you.

Feb 18th 2008 Call from this number on our answering service. Did not leave message.

If they are indeed legitimate, please explain to me why they hung up in my ear after they were told the person they were calling for was unavailable. A legitimate company would at least have the courtesy say thank you and good bye.

I recieved the call and it No name on caller ID and when I called them back got voice mail, that did not announce who they were, but just to leave name and number.,

Although there are a lot of 'less up front' telephone solicitation phone calls, any calls received from PANS, NBPA, RNCA OR PEPA (the four atlantic canada provincial police associations) are legitimate and have been represented by Fenety Marketing Services for over 20 years in some cases. These guys get paid a small amount of money to do things most people won't do for free, raise money for worthy organizations and take the brunt of people who are mad at other, less reputable, companies

Actually, for the record, the company is Fenety Marketing Services, and they have represented PANS and other atlantic Canada police associations for over 20 years. Any slanderous talk of 'scams' is by ignorant people who are too lazy to research the situation. I for one am in favor of the 'local' companies such as this that don't use high pressure tactics to raise money for such worthy causes

Received a call from this number about 11:30am July 22.
No name on caller ID and when I called them back, got voice mail,
that did not announce who they were, but just to leave name and number.,
What business these days does not announce their business name on voicemail?

If you can believe it I think it has something to do with the PANS... Police Association of Nova Scotia. I think they should be reported.

just had the call myself - nothing to hear but the line stayed open for about 30 sec's before I hung up. Someone needs a life :-)

Thank heavens for caller ID. I won't answer unless I know the number or there is a familiar name associated with it. I just received a call from this number, didn't answer it.

Got breathing noises with dead air. We get police association calls all the time - It didn't even occur to me that they could be fraudulant calls.

phone number 902-482-1380 called my home and asked for a name of someone who does not reside here, when I asked him to repeat the name he hung up on me.
| Dale 2007-10-26 13:54:38 Unknown |
We receive these calls also. For the record, this scam group has nothing to do with a police association and the RCMP have no connections to such an association. My suggestion: Ignore or take suitable action against the scammers.

Person called from this number identifying themselves as "Gordon MacDonald" from the Police Association of Nova Scotia. He claimed they were fundraising for their "Crime Awareness Handbook". He wanted me to donate $20 over the phone or through the mail to this handbook. Not sure whether or not he was actually calling on behalf of the Police Association of Nova Scotia...but seemed very suspicious.
