These people are a scam. They are CM Associate Group/CMAG based out of Corona, CA. They claim to have a debt you or someone you are related to owes that they have supposedly purchased but do not show proof of ownership. They will pretend to be process servers trying to "serve" you papers for a law suit that hasn't even been filed. If you get a call from these people, ask them for proof of ownership of your debt. They will not supply it to you, this is the first step in proving they are a scam. Second, they will offer you the lowest settlement amount possible just to get money and personal information out of you. No debt settlement company will offer you something like $500 settlement for a $3000 debt.
After being harassed by these people constantly, I filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General's office, the local police department, and was informed by both to no longer continue communication with these people. The fact they want you to verify your SSN over the phone is dangerous, yet they will not be able to even verify your current address. They use your credit report to attempt to scam you out of money. You can find other people's statements on other websites where they have made "arrangements" with this company, and then scammed out of the money and nothing is cleared off their credit report.
DO NOT BE AFRAID. If you think you are being sued, contact your local county clerk's office. They will be happy to check. If you are being served, a law suit would ALREADY be in their system. Do not let these people scare you it's what they want. Per the local PD: Block all numbers of theirs that they are contacting you on, and do NOT engage in any conversation as it will open the door to them harassing more. Unless they legally verify they own your debt, you do not have to pay a dime.

We got a call from this number today and the automated voice indicated it was looking for my mother-in-law. It asked me to press a certain number if I was her, and another number if I was not. When I pressed that, it wanted to connect me to someone else, but I hung up.
I'm not sure who these people are or how they know our number is connected to my mother-in-law...neither my husband or I talk to her often at all, and there's no reason anyone with her name would have our number.
