OK, FOP and JAFF are good organizations.  But, donations are solicited by phone calls.  How much of the money goes to the organization and how much to the phone solicitors?  Why not end a donations directly to the organization so they will get it all?

Yes Big A the Jacksonville Association of FireFighters had a great softball game against some of the Jaguar players at JU....it is very cool of some of the Players that live here in town to give up an afternoon to help the Firefighters.... I alos enjoy supporting the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5-30 when they call with the Decal drive for my car window....Local Firefighters Association....and Local FOP lodge.... these are great organizations to help here in the community....Thanks to Officer Nelson Cuba (fop president) & Cheif Randy Wyse(jaff president) for all you do!!!

I was not home to pick-up.  If this is the FOP soliciting donations it is outraegeous they have to resort to a covert/bogus caller ID.

Received a phone call on 4/28/2009 with the phone number 904-264-9729. No message!

I keep getting calls from several numbers with caller ID of Connecting.  265-9729, 861-1583, 861-1589, 265-9723, 265-9717, 265-9714.  Very annoying. Most of the time I don't answer, but when I do there is no one on the other end.  Lucky them!!!  I wish someone would speak back now, because I'm ready to rip 'em a new one!!!

Telemarketers...there to bother you

I got the same  call, but mine id as "connecting" i didn't pick up nor did they leave a message

Receive a new call every day with a different number and ID. One day it is "routing" the next it's "signal" . Every time they call with a new number I add it to my blocked number list, eventually they will run out of options.

Jacksonville Firefighters and other org's use it in there fundraising drives. Right now they're asking for support in their annual firefighters vs. Jaguars softball game. 2 tickts for $25 at the JU baseball stadium.. We're going.

This guy has called 3 days in a row.  Gives me a different name each time.  Asks for my husband and will not state his business.  He got real pissie with me  when I told him I could handle the call, since my husband was busy and could not take his call.

They just called me and left no message on my answering machine. I'm on the national do not call list for telemarketers. I'm reporting this number.

Oh yes, they keep calling no matter what you tell them.  fcc.gov - file a complaint.  I already have.  They are not operating in compliance with telemarketing laws.  I assume your caller ID says "Connecting" as mine does.

They are also required to tell you that they are 3rd party telemarketers FIRST!  

do not donate over the phone - YOU do not know they are legitimately collecting on behalf of any charity

DO NOT DONATE TO 3RD PARTY TELEMARKETERS - they keep 85-90% of all donations received.

If you want to donate to a particular charity - donate directly to them
as well as contact them and tell them to STOP USING 3rd party telemarketers.

A "Mr.Roy Rogers" calling from 904-265-9729 says that he is a fire fighter and would like to send me a firefighter decal for a donation.When I requested to have my name removed from their list,he just hung up.Go figure.When you call back the line is always busy.
