Debt Collector
these people(Nationwide Investigations) are I guess a real company BUT they are a 3rd party collector(seen ad on craigslist hiring for there) after they called and scared the crap outta me in reference to a pay day loan advance I had gotten and the first call the first lady(Mrs. Rowe)from phone #(830)612-1022 said to me she was calling on behalf of law office of Osheana & divine and wanted to know if I had my lawyer info for her after she told me that had mailed me paperwork from them an I never responded they would be issuin a warrant for my arrest at 3:00pm that day because I was startled by this I immediately hung up and called the place I had gotten the payday loan with and they told me they never heard of Osheana & dvine lawyers and the onky ones they know of is Nationwide and gave me another #(904)683-6271 and when I called it I spoke with a woman named Mary Miller at ext.202 and she claimed to have had my file and because I sounded like I knew nothing about this she would hold it until Oct. 5th when I could call with some other arrangements after that day I never called or heard from them again until on or around Oct. 24th only after my sister called me frantically and said the state attorney just called her(and by the way went into detail about my personal about this to my sister in ref to this which for one im sure is not legal) and I need to call them back ASAP so I did and and it was them again so this time that lady cant remember her name but stated to me that I needed to pay ASAP as I explained to her I did not have it and needed some time she proceeded to put me on hold and would make a conference call to the owner of the payday loan company in the mean time another lady got on th phone and started telling me what the other lady was saying the man was stating on the conf call which was I had till 10am 10/25/12 to pay $555 if not a warrant will be issued for me and that the owner of the payday place is setting my bond at $3500 cash bond and I would have to six in there 2 weeks if I couldnt post that I then said I dont have it and the lady on phone set i wish u luck and hung up on me so I called back and couldnt get the original lady on the phone that was on conf call instead I got someone else and they told me she was still on call and I needed to pay this by moneygram on the blue/white form and gave me an acct# as well after several attempts of wishing to speak back once again to original lady she finally got on the phone and I was stating to her that even from the very first call I ever got from them stating they sent me paperwork that I still have never received it and she then said maam u wrote this and u need to pay I said and I need a copy of the check and the paperwork u guys said u sent me she said my bank had stamped my check account closed and after a few min going back an forth she got angry tone and said Ill see u in court and hung up on me....needless to say I didnt know all of this was just a 3rd party debt collector because I was very upset about this whole situation of course I did not pay so I after sitting there for hours literally frantic because of this thought well how could the bank stamp my check acct closed when for 1 my acct is very much open and 2 the check never came thru my bank so I decided to call my bank an the rep told me no the check never posted or tried to post to my acct and to be careful because they have been receiving several people stating such callls happening to them as I felt a little better I came home and decided to look up Nationwide Investigations and this is where I first ran across several several complaints aginst them as well I kinda then just pushed it outta my mind and havent spoken to or heard from them since until yesterday when I had received a call from the #(713)370-1988 I did not answer it and when I did call it back it went staright to a voicemail stating they couldnt answer because the were either in court or with a client I left it alone until I got a call from my nephew stating they had just called his fiance' stating they were from fraud division and she was worried for me and again they went into depth about my personal info and what was going on again not legal to do..I do have rights....so I told them not to worry and it was a 3rd party debt collector and I then called the # back from a different phone and it went to the Nationwide Investigations message I hung up and never called back nor did they me....So after stating all this the moral to this story is they are 3rd party debt collectors portraying to be from lawyers office, state attorney, fraud division and all of which is NOT TRUE NOR LEGAL FOR THEM TO PORTRAY THAT THEY ARE MORE THAN JUST WHAT THEY ARE A DEBT COLLECTOR!!!...also to go into depth about why the are calling to my relatives or whomever for that matter is NOT LEGAL as well...Im not sure what actions I can take to see if there would be any findings against them being in the wrong but I am sure going to try...

Really...these guys are a scam and are in violation of the Fair Collection and Debt Act. They have no authority to issue warrants. There is no such department. I have filed complaints with the FTC, Fla AG and the local police department.

Debt Collector
Nationwide Investigation is a debt collector who is using junk debt buying tactics on debts such as payday loans.

They will call you up and portray themselves as having a legal case against you, typically as the "Fraud and Felony Division". There is no such animal. Contact regarding fraud charges would come from a law enforcement agency.

They are violating the FDCPA by failing to immediately identify themselves on every call as a debt collector and by threatening criminal legal action on issues that are purely civil in nature; there have been no instances where an attorney general has prosecuted failure to pay a payday loan off as check fraud, and there never will be.

When they call, ask them to provide their name and mailing address for a debt validation letter and a cease and desist notice. If they refuse, repeat the request until they hang up on you. Do not give them any personal information - especially not any account or credit card information! In many cases these debts are outside the statute of limitations for even civil legal action, but by making any sort of payment arrangements, or even verbally verifying the debt as yours, can reset the timer on that statute; the likelihood that they will sue you is low, but better not to let that timer get reset anyway.

Debt Collector
I received a call from 904-524-8919 for someone else.  Called them back and was told it's regarding a felony conviction for that person.  Since I got my phone number -- a cell number -- I have received numerous phoen calls from debt collectors for the individual that 904-524-8919 called about.  I really don't think it's a scam.  I really wish the person who is using my number/had it before me would clean up their act.

Debt Collector
Dear Concerned~

I received the same phone call recently and have before in the past as well- these calls are a scam- they use scare tactics to get you to pay money on an outstanding debt or a debt that they think you may owe (when in fact you may have already paid that debt off).  If you want to get some information from them- you can try to call back (IF they answer) and find out who they say you owe a debt to- then contact that company on your own.  Beware- they will make it seem as if they are your last option before they send someone out with a warrant for you, etc- just remember- they use scare tactics to get you to pay a ridiculous amount of money immediately.  Don't be fooled-don't let them scare you.

Received a call and message from this number at my mother's home. Female voice stated they were from Nationwide Investigation.  They stated they were Investigator Palmer from the Fraud and Felony division.  They asked I call them back at 904-329-1740.  They even provided a case number.  When I called the number back, you cannot reach anyone and it goes to a voicemail box.  Scam possibly?  Does anyone know?
