This number called my cell phone today.  I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  I immediately looked-up their number and found these postings.  I will definitely block this caller.  Thanks for the input.

I received an email stating they were from the Attorney General's Office for the State of Florida.  It says that it is my Final Warning.  This is the 1st that I am hearing of this.  It is on Letter Head and gives a number of 904-900-8344.  I google the # and it leads me to this forum.  It also lists that the AG is a Pamela Bondi.  This is a SCAM.  Please do not listen to these e mails or phone calls.  I would love to know how they got my email.  It says that is from a Alan Daniels and that you can call or email him back at care@attorneygeneralsoffice.us.  I am reporting this email

They called me saying they are with law and law investigation.  He said I was going to be arrested if I didnt pay by monday. He gave me the number to my "debt agency, cash advance america" which led me to a guy that sounded almost just like him. He said his name was Shawn Brown. I kept asking for proof of a loan (because I knew I never got one) and he said he would email me something but to get a settlement he needed my card # now.  I refused and asked him for a business id # so my lawyer could make sure it was legit and he just got mad and said he was calling the police station to have them come arrest me.  Im still free and have never received an email from him.

These people use scare tactics to make people believe that they have an outstanding debt. They are not a legit compnay and are scams to either get your social, DL number and Bank account number who know's but they are very pushy and they make threats that they are going to arrest you, at your place of work, unless you pay the debt owed.

Oh, these guys are still at it, I see.  These scumbags used to bug me almost non-stop.  In fact, they went at it from about November of 2010 to some time last summer.  They would always use the same names and phrases--Try Googling for "against your name and social security number," "United Nations Legal Department," "if you do not return the call, all I can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you," etc., and you'll see what I mean.  I'm pretty sure I've even posted about them on this site before as well, but here briefly is how I finally got them to leave me alone.

Threatening them with law enforcement, etc. does not work...and I really want to emphasize, this will FAIL.  They do not care.  They are not located within the United States or its territories.  People have even called the police, FBI, etc., and are told to "log all calls from the number," but the calls continue.  I've even read one story of someone getting an actual cop to call the scammers and threaten them, but this failed as well.  They give not one single...fudge, I'll put it that way.  What does seem to work, however, is persistent mockery--in other words, troll the hell out of them and LAUGH.  Make very sure they know that you know that you don't take them seriously no matter what they threaten--and oh yes, they will threaten.  They'll threaten to get the cops to come to your house and arrest you.  The last time I had a conversation of much length with one of them, once he figured out I wasn't biting, suddenly the story changed from that he was with the "United Nations Legal Department" to that he was a "big-time terrorist" and he threatened to come and assault my female relatives.  I actually laughed even harder, because I knew he was just mad because his scam wasn't working.  After that, there were a few half-hearted calls, but eventually they figured out that after so many months and after I started mocking them mercilessly, they weren't getting anywhere with me and I guess they took me off their list.

Don't let them scare you.  Don't give in to them.  If enough people laugh in their faces, these scumbags will have to just find another scam...

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Does anyone know how to make this crap stop. I am going to asume this call was a debt collection, he never said just that he was with the FBI and I was going to be arrested today!

They call at work and at home. I don't answer home phone and we told them when they call at work that I am no longer employed. They won't send you any proof  but threaten you with jail or whatever. My lawyer said ignore them. I will probably change my home number just to stop the harrassment.

Shawn/Sean White was the "attorney" I was transferred to me.  He seemed very surprised that I had not been arrested by my local sheriff's department yet on the warrant.  He was also surprised when I told him I am an attorney and that in the United States we do not arrest people for debts even if they were legitimate instead of fraudulent b***s***.  I called the number back and he picked up.  I asked for his bar number and he didn't know what that was.  Unfortunately I think short of blocking these people or changing your number you might just be stuck with the calls.

These guys are the worst!!! I've been called daily by them and from different LD numbers. From what I read from others being harrased by this group of liars and theifs, I am one of MANY getting these harrasing calls. Be careful what you tell them. They called my HR dept. at work and the receptionist passed on the info to me because they thought they were real. I am going to print out commemts from this website and forward to the HR just in case they try and call me again. Thank you for this site!! I knew something was fishy/wrong, but the comments confirm fraud.

They are still at it, received a call a month ago but couldnt understand them and they finally got back to me today.  After telling me they were going to have me arrested, I asked where they were located and Shawn White transferred me to Mike Wilson, both heavy Indian accent.  Again I asked their location to I can personally visit them and he hungup.  I called back oh maybe 50 times and Shawn answered and wanted to know why I was harassing them?  Told him I would like to meet them to personally discuss this with the police present, he hu.  Kind of fun to just keep calling now.

I rec'd a two calls from this number today.  They left a VM message saying if I did not return their call then I would be arrested.  I got on here and saw all of the posts and then called someone who is a debt collector. She said that it is a scam and that they can see certain info, like the last 4 of my SS#, but that they don't know anything else.  On VM couldn't understand anything except the end and arrested.  They called back and I answered and listened to "Peter Black's" script and said that I had contacted an attorney, looked their number up on internet, and am going to be calling the FBI and Attorney General's office.  He repeated that and hung up.  Let's hope that is the end.

I am an attorney.  This guy had been bothering my client so she referred him to me.  These guys are brazen.  I received a call from Shawn White, young male with an Indian or Pakistani accent.  He says he works for U.S. Legal Services and calling me to collect a pay day loan that I failed to pay on a loan she obtained from Cash Advance America.  Says he is a licensed attorney in Florida, and works for Jonathan Marshall.  I immediately searched the Fl state bar attorney search and neither came up as licensed.  I asked for a phone number, he gave me 904-900-8341.  I confronted him about not being licensed in FL, and he just kept asking how we are going to pay the debt.  I asked to speak to a supervisor, he put his hand over the phone and asked someone next to him what does "supervisor" mean, came back on the line and said he had to go, he will call me back and he was short on time.  I asked him to stay on the line so we could keep talking, and he hung up.  I immediately called the number he gave me and it was not active.
