I just got a call for the second time within the last hour from this number. As typical, I did not answer and no message was left. With all the scams that collection agencies seem to pull these days, including misrepresenting themselves as legitimate companies (including Citibank), do these collection agencies really think that anyone with just a little bit of intelligence will call a strange number (especially when no message is left)?

I can't help bur wonder if these calls are legit, why messages are not left. If Citibank has a question for or a problem with me, I would think they would leave a message stating "this is (name) from citibank. I am calling in reference to your credit card account # 9999 9999 9999 9999. It appears that there is a problem regarding (whatever the problem is (missed payment, fradulent activity, etc.)). Please call me at
999-999-9999 X???? (if X is applicable)." People also call a friend of mine, stating that they are from Citibank and they are looking for me. Whey my friend asks how they got her number, they say it is listed as a contact number. I DID NOT EVEN KNOW THIS LADY WHEN I OPENED MY CITIBANK ACCOUNT, AND NEVER MENTIONED HER PHONE NUMBER TO ANYONE. My friend is taking legal action against Citibank, because verbal warnings have not made the calls cease. Now I refuse to deal with "collection agencies". If there is a problem with an account of mine, I deal directly with the appropriate company. I urge others to do the same. P. S. Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is TARP money?

This is CitiCard - Calling on SEARS account/cards -
SEARS is going broke, now that K-Mart owns them - They
are DESPERATE for money, and have to resort to this in order to stay afloat.

As long as you make a minimum payment, they can't touch you.

Put them on your DO NOT CALL list .....
If they keep up, go to your local SEARS or K-MART store & file a written
complaint at their Customer Service Desk....

Pretty sure they're actually Citi.  They had access to my transaction records and knew the first letter of my security question, so if they are scammers, then they have a scary amount of access to Citi's internal records.  They also did close the card they called about shortly after the call.

That said, it's possible that some people have received calls from scammers who are faking the Caller ID to appear to be coming from this number, so always be wary when you get calls like this.

Got a call from 904-954-1091 indicating it was from Mastercard, and requested a call back to (866) 517-5347. The whole thing looks odd. Will contact the BBB

This is actually legit.  I called Citibank at their number listed online and both the 904-954-1091 number and 866-517-5348 are numbers that Citibank Fraud department uses.  If you feel uncomfortable talking to them, you can always call the number listed on Citibank's website and ask for the fraud department.  I recommend doing so because if they are calling you it probably means someone ELSE is using your card...

Just my two cents!

Have been receiving numerous calls from this number, ever since my card was stolen. Reported it stolen (10/29/10) filed unauthorized claim reports. Spoke to representative personally, made very clear account is closed and filed documents for unauthorized charges. Representative replied nothing was noted on account to show process even taking place. I made sure it was understood, knowing calls are recorded for them not to call me again!

Seriously,,,shows you how well the document their processes.

I owe CitiBank some money.  But I really hate that bank and they raised my interest to 29.99% after 18 years of never missing any payments.  I told them fu*k off that I wouldn't pay them anything.

This number DOES belong to CitiStank.

If a card issuer needs to talk to you about fraud and you're not answering your phone, the will and do leave a phone number. What they wont do is ask you for your account # when you call. They know that. Normally you provide the phone # the message was left on and they can bring up your account. They will ask questions to authenticate you, but those will never be your account number. If you're asked for your account number, then hang up.

I got the call to my home phone and ignored it, but then they called me at work immediately after and I don't have caller ID at work, so I answered. I had recently requested a balance transfer and they were verifying that it was me that initiated the balance transfer.  It was legitimate. They didn't try to sell anything, etc.

This is legit, although it sounded like a scam at first because the girl on the message spoke too quickly and was very hard to understand.  Like other posters, I called back using the number on the back of my card in order to assure that I was speaking to a legitimate Citibank call center.  The service rep that I reached told me that my card was among a group of cards that had been compromised due to a lapse in security by one of their contractors, so the number had to be changed.  She clearly was legitimate based on the information she had about my account.. in addition to the fact that I called the number on my card.  Not sure why they would call someone without an account, but it may just be that they misdialed.  Again, that girl that left the first message clearly needs phone training!  Bottom line, if you get this call, call your card company directly to be sure that everything is ok.

Just got 2 phone calls from this number.  They did not leave a message, just saw 2 missed calls.  When I called back, the message said it was Citi and ATT?  Hmm, made me wonder why I was receiving a call from a 904 area code and that the message mentioned 2 companies.

I called Citi, and they are aware of this, and said to never give out information.  Interesting, however, since I did make a large electronics purchase today on the Citicard to an out of country merchant.  I do think that there is information being leaked from Citibank.

This is a credit card calling to find out why you have not paid on time. It is an example of the TARP money hard at work. We have bailed out the credit card companies so that they can call us to ask for more money. Welcome to the USA.

To Whom this may concern...

These are professional con artists.  They call from 1-904-954-1091 the number in which you have looked up and 1-866-623-9354.  There are other numbers they call from as well.

These are people who are fishing for your account information.  They want your name, address, SSN, card number and three digit security number.  They know that a lot of people will believe most individuals who call and say their from the fraud alert center and just give away their information like candy.  File a report with citi group then the police then you can also file a report with the FBI; they have a task force that is in the process of investigating these individuals.  They will fined, jailed and serve a minimum of 5-10 years in a federal corrections facility.  BE AWARE THESE ARE SCAM ARTISTS.  THEY DO THIS FOR A LIVING BE VERY CAREFUL WHO YOU HAND OUT INFORMATION TO!
