We had to pass criminal record checks and sign confidentiality clauses to work there, did weeks of training on the products we represent, and will be fired for misinforming a customer or failing to disclose prices and fees, behaving unethically (eg. selling to someone who clearly doesn't understand us, eg. seniors or people who don't speak English), or revealing personal details about anyone outside work.

We work long hours, and when you've been on a Christmas Eve early shift, or a 12 hour shift the day after Boxing Day, some drunk whining about being called at 8 or 9 PM (we don't work at 8 AM) has zero effect. People are at home at different times, that's why calls go out at different times if there is no contact with the correct person in the household. And again, that's most call centres.

Most people we speak to are at least civil, even nice, even when they're not buying. They know we're just doing our jobs and that millions of people all over North America, of every age, race, and physical ability level, are doing the same job. The ones I see around me are ethical; the ones who aren't competent in a way that causes trouble for a customer get canned. Of course there are scam artists out there in phoneland, but they are far more likely to be people/companies you've never heard of before. All companies also have the odd bad egg (or just someone who makes a big mistake) here or there, and how a wronged customer gets dealt with depends on the company - but that end result gets decided much higher up than at the call centre level.

If you want to be on the Do Not Call list, the operator has to tell you the details of the list, otherwise s/he CAN'T put you on it. If you're a rude idiot who just barks "don't call me" and hangs up, guess what? You can't be put on the DNC list. If you DO go on the list, by the way, you will never get outbound deals - which ALL companies have, and which is the ONLY way you can get the best deals. If you call in, they KNOW you want the product, so you don't get the best deal, get it? Because if you don't, you're probably among the lowest troglodytes on our calling list.

Oh, and by the way - people in Quebec who pretend you don't speak English - uh, anglo agents call ONLY numbers where the customer REQUESTED their bills in English. And people who try to break our eardrums: what WE do is legal. Assaulting someone - yes, even on the phone, even if they called you - is illegal, and we do know who you are. You WILL be charged.

A few of the letters above are clearly from disgruntled ex-agents. I've been there a short time, but it's been fine, and I've never heard of half the people they've mentioned, so maybe there's been some sort of shake-up. Or maybe you're gone for a reason that has more to do with you than the company. If my experience changes, I'll update this and apologize, but so far it hasn't been bad, and I've been there a few months.

And to all the people who stood up for call centre agents, thank you. You are a joy to talk to, even when you don't buy anything.

i am a current worker of sp data and i hate it when people talk so low of that place. this center provides jobs for hundreds and hundreds of people. and sure they have lost campaigns in the past but it happens to every call center. every business hits a rough patch at some point. the upper management do their best to keep their employees there. they do what they have to do to keep their campaign open. and another thing is for people who complain about getting constant phone calls. there is a reason for that. it's not just bell who does it, other providers call their customers as well. if you don;t like it than you can put yourself on the dnc list and stop complaining about it. it happens to everyone from every company. and atleast this is a canadian company not a company from the other side of the world. so quit your whining, suck it up and do something about it.

SP Data is a company ran by Lesbians. Andrea got her anorexic p**sy F'd by this dweeb and got her bonnie a** canned. When we use to sit next to her she smelled like fish. Brian Kato gets his weenie sucked by the fat "f" that was in-charge of Qwest, then Bell, then Cogeco, a campaign that they lost because they tried to force Alison into a position she had no interest in, then canned her from Quality Control (yet she was the top woman who organized their successful program to begin with) and her leaving meant the end of real QA, therefore, they lost the campaign because of it... Good!  You're only as good as your best Employee and Not the Worst.

This number calls all the time. I would normally respectful of anyone on the phone, but after waiting for some so called important message... or long silent nothing. It makes me angry that they offer me something and then...say i can't have it unless i spend more money with them on things i don't need. When i ask for this saving I'm eligible for, they tell me to call "another" number to get it and hang up on me. What company thinks this is good practise....this is Bell?

Why is it the same people who bi*** that they are getting ripped off from a company, that as refused to read their billing inserts or answer the phone when a company invests in marketing firms to save their customers money and earn new ones. you can' win either way. I work for sp.data  we've been hired to do a job Just like when you go to work you have a job or a task to do! so if you have a problem with us calling  "Bell" then deal with it, the only reason we are calling to help you relize that we can save you $$ ..im sure you had problems with bell in the past, hey get over it. im sure you have bigger problem now that you are with a diff. provider so i do suggest for you to pick up your phone and give us a chance to expalin you what a good provider is! :):)

F.Y.I I work at SP Data And chances are the reason why we are calling you is to save you money on you current services for example Bell. So i would suggest answering your phone and listening to what we have to say because hey afterall we are just doing our jobs. and it could benefit you in the long run . don't think that we are always trying to sell something because we aren't!

hey guys...I work for SP data and I'll tell ya this..yeah its annoying, I hate callin ppl to sell s***, but hey its a job lol  and heres a tip. If you're getting calls for TD, go into your bank and request to be taken off the promotion list you probably signed into when opening the account.  As for Bell which Im workin on now, tell them you're moving to china and the dont have bell :P we're allowed to call because Bell hired us to do it. And if all else fails, clearly state TAKE ME OFF THE CALLING LIST, i AM HAPPY WITH THE CURRENT SERVICE AND DO NOT WISH TO MAKE ANY CHANGES AT THIS TIME!
Sorry for buggin you guys, but Im good at it and I get paid a bunch ;)

They called twice. I did not pick up as I get too many stray calls.
Is there a way to legally stop these people from being a pain in the youknowwhere?

There is a donotcall registry where I registered my cellphone. If this is from canada, the laws of USA might not prevail? These people need to be punished.
