I have just started receiving calls from this number on my cell phone. Have received 2 calls within an hour and a half of each other so far. I didn't answer it as I do not answer calls from numbers I do not recognize. I did call the number back and got a busy signal. If this becomes a regular problem I am going to lose it, but from the other comments on here there is nothing I can do about this. I am on the DNCL and since I have been on that list I seem to get more and more calls like this. Wondering if these people are accessing the DNCL some how and using these numbers to harass people!

I have a telus cell number and so far I have received 2 calls in 2 hours from this number. So don't think you are are free from this harrassment. Just sayin :)

They even start cslling people in Europe, Holland to be exact. They wanted to connect to my computer. My wife hung up. The *ssholes.

I was told this was a collections company looking for a specific name....Asked to be removed from their list...TWICE! Let's hope it doesn't get to a third time! Effin terrible tactics that are an extreme waste of money and resources. I DARE Bell or other companies attached to it to state they care for the environment when they waste resources doing S&*t like this...I bet their offices are air con'd, well lit and powered to fit an army.....useless!

Yes, BELL is a bad company. I heard that they call people from this number and then hang up - to try to force you to PAY for Call Blocking. Pretty cheap and underhanded tactics by BELL.  Years ago someone hacked into my phone and I was charged for calls from Tuvalu (? Is there even such a place?), which I did not make. BELL would not listen to me. They charged me for calls to some weird place I have never heard of. I cancelled BELL after that.  BELL still owes me money.  --  And now people are saying they are perpetrating this scam to get people to PAY for Call Blocking. Unethical, low-life scamming.

Tonight we got a call from this number.
The lady on the phone advised that she was calling from the Shriner's.
This number came up on our call display with no name.

Please stop calling my home. Not sure who you are, or why you call. All our bills are paid. So STOP CALLING!

Selling tickets for Shriners Circus.  Proceeds are for Shriners hospital and when I told him I would not be paying by credit card he abruptly disconnect the call.

I got a call from this number today around 9.45am which is a little while ago, the guy asked for my husband, he was very rude, so I just came online to check the number, and I found all these posts. I have given charity for shriners before so it makes sense. For the way the guy spoke no one would even think about giving charities to people who talk in that manner! I certainly won't. :|

This number calls numerous times every day and last at night around 9:15.  Sick and tired of them calling

We cancelled Bell service. Got called with renewal offers from this number. We put it on blocked calls. we get called 2x a day. Also,  Bell still keeps calling using different numbers making offers despite the fact we ask them every time we get tricked by hem to stop calling us.
We were Bell cutomers for 50 years that is the kind of respect they have for privacy.

it is a company called zentel or something like that but not that exactly.

they call and ask for my parents and always say they are with a charity my parents give to. it is atrocious. if there is a class action suit against these people at anytime...include me. i have talked with real people from this company dozens of times....being reasonable all the way to irate.

they call from 647 numbers now as well.

I believe that charities are exempt from the do not call list, could be right or wrong here? Anyone know?

Used the 1-800-470-5349 number as mentioned above to add our number to the do not call list.  We'll see.   I agree it is Shriner's calling for donations.

This number 905 963 1688 is the Shriner's charity. They keep calling asking for support trying to sell tickets to their circus.

This is just a guess, but it might be somebody with a number scrambler or something to see if people are home at what ever home they phone. For what, i don't know. I wonder if all of us have something in common in some why or another that we don't know about?. It says the number is registered to bell, but bell says there is no number.  Could it be they just want to see what time we are not home at?. Kinda makes you go hmmmmmm!!!!, "doesn't it?".

Sounds like a possible form of deceptive or fraudulent marketing, if Bell Canada is using another company, if it even is a company separate from Bell Canada, to harrass people at home in order to artificially and deceptively create more service sales (Call Block).  Everyone should report the practice to the federal agency which regulates corporate use of deceptive and dishonest marketing practices - the name of which escapes me right now.  Call centres and telemarketers are required by law, if i am not mistaken, to show an area code and phone number at which the company can be contacted by phone, so providing a number which is uncallable or which the company refuses to answer is likely illegal.

I have answered this number, and it has been a BELL representative, trying to sign us up for their services.  We recently discontinued BELL, in favour of another company.  We have spoken to BELL about this problem also, as this is not the only number calling us on behalf of BELL, and asked to be taken off their calling list.  We were told, it would take at least 6 MONTHS!

As a side note, I recently heard, that there has been some sort of legal action taken against BELL for this harassment.  I am not sure if this is true, but I would have liked to have known about it, to add our names to the list of complainants.

After reading more of the messgaes related to this number, it seems like GT Communications Group has been hired by the Shriners to solicit donations for their charity.  Unfortunately for the Shriners, the attitude of the company's callers may well turn many would be contributors into people who want nothing to do with the Shriners.  

Regardless of which organization or company is calling, they are likely legally required to show an area code and phone number at which the call recipient can call the call centre back and speak with a company employee, which seems to not be the case.
