I received the same message, however, because I am set up for text alert thru First merit and It was sunday with Monday being a holiday where banks were closed, I truly believed it was legitimate. Now I have to go thru my acct and get a new debit card which takes 2 wks and all the inconvenience let alone some amounts out of my acct that are not accounted for....

Really? Scamming people through text messages. What happened to the do not call list? Or are text messages void of "DO NOT CALL"?

I got the text message today from a Bella Casa? telling me it was urgent from First Merit and to call this number. Unbelievable what these idiots try to do. I have never even had an account with First Merit.

Got a text and phone call today...same thing as below. Haven't had a FirstMerit account for 3 years.

yeah got a text msg wanting it to call it about unlocking my card. while i have a first merit account and in fact used it last night...there is no info on the website for my acct about anything being locked. i agree with the above poster...banks simply don't do this. i called my "actual" bank # and unfortunately they are closed. i figure it is a scam too...probably why they pick sunday to try it figuring nobody can confirm it with their bank. f****rs.

just had the same one. Caught my attention because I used to have an account with that bank but no longer do. the are code is Alaska & I'm pretty sure they aren't in Alaska. And no banks don't do that, unless you sign up for text alerts, but those are account specific & I never had them with First Merit.

I received a text from 907-341-3351 & said it was First Merit and urgent and to call them. I have no accounts with them so I checked it out & it is a scam.

Received a text today 10/13/13 said it was First Merit Bank and wanted you to call them back. Automated message that your debit card was locked and press 2 to reactivate. Has to be a scam. Banks just don't do this.
