got a text from this number like a lot of other people here.......... on Oct. 18 2012 @ 2:37am, now what company; well, legitimate company, would send a text that late(or early, depending on how you look at it) telling me that I just won a $1000 gift card in a *Best Buy raffle.......................... that's funny because I never shop at Best Buy, so I knew it was a scam!! I don't answer to any number that I don't know........ I feel that if it was important enough to call, then it's important that they leave a message, if not, then it must not be that important of a call.... and I don't get back in touch with anyone that does not leave me a message... especially if I'm not able to answer the phone for some reason or other!!

this is the second time I received the message, this is a scam, do not give any personal information, I never ever entry my name or cell for any contast, just another scam

Like the other posts I received a text message on 11/03/12 at 1:20am (USA -EST). I'm a police officer in the state of Maryland. Funny I would get this text message. I have seen plenty of Internet scams. No reputable business asks for personal information in this manner. Don't give these people your information!

The message read...

"Your entry last month has WON! Go to BestBuyContest.com and enter your winning code 7376 to claim your FREE $1000 BestBuy gift card within 24hrs."

Oddly enough I shopped at a Best Buy last week and used my reward zone card. I'm pretty careful with my cell phone number so I was surprised that I got this lure. The only other thing I can contribute to this forum is that within the last several months I have received text messages directing me to the website www.smoke99.com. The text contained my nickname but I've no clue who sent it.

I got a text  from same phone number 909-973-5847 today for winning $1000 contest at Best Buy. I did not enter any contest at best buy.

rec'd text at 3:35 am 11/2/12 How does Best Buy get away with this scam. I knew it was a scam because I haven't been near a Best Buy in years. They ripped me off then but never again. Besides sending a message at that hour of the morning sends you into a panic thinking something has happened to a family member. Can't BB be sued in a class action for this scam. so much for DNC

Received the text message that I won from BestBuy from 909-973-5847, of course I think it is a scam, so I came only to search it, as everyone else.

Just got the text saying I won a $1000 gift card from Best Buy from a contest entry from last month. What a scam. I didn't enter any contest or visit the Best Buy store or website in over 6 months. I want to know how they got my cell number.

Text said : Your entry last month has WON! Go to BestBuyContest.ckom and enter your winning code 6207 to claim your FREE $1000 BESTBUY gift card within 24hrs.

I had the same message at 8:51 saying id won a 1000 $best buy gift card... (SCAM)... we don't even have a Best Buy in the Town I live in.

I received a text on Mon 10/22/12 from 909-973-5847 saying I won $1,000 from Best Buy raffle and to look up that website and enter code 6207.  What is this????

This is a HUGE SCAM!!   DO NOT DO AS THEY REQUEST, UNLESS YOU WANT THE SCAMMER TO GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS!!!   Thousands, including myself have received a text message from Best Buy as follows:  "Your entry last month has WON!  Go to www.BestBuyRaffle.com and enter your winning code 6207 to claim your FREE $1000 BestBuy gift card within 24hrs.

yeah, I received the winning call @ 2:37 am............ so I looked it up and that lead me here!!  I figured it was someone trying to pull a scam...  :(

REceived a text message at above at 3:23 am!!! Forget that the text notification woke me from 3 rooms away ( I forgot to turn the phone off before bed). Glad I check all these numbers before calling back.  But I think Best Buy should be all over this one, they're the ones being hurt.

Best Buy. To claim my prize go to Best Buy win.net. I had been doing business with Best Buy the same day
so I did not think about it being a scam--- while I was filling outthe information I lost internet connect. I just pray that it happened quick enought that my info did not go thru. I had not put in a code # , so I think I am safe.   Tjis is the first and last time I will fall for something like this.

It is a scam.  Go to snopes.com (http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/nothing/bestbuy.asp) or type "best buy scam" into Google.  If it looks to good to be true it probably is.

i had the same message at 5:30 in the morning saying id won a 1000$best buy gift card...which i didn't know if it was a scam or not. of course my first instinct was to think that it was a scam, but i was online and did have a choice of 3 things to choose from and have a chance of winning, and i did pick a $1000 gift card, i cant remember if it was best buy. but thats why i thought just maybe it could be true! but of course thats just not my luck!!! stupid scams!!!
