Same here.  Trying I'm sure this is a pre-recorded "demon-dial" or "random-dial" system, again trying to solicit some life-alert type system.  I suspect they are getting "back-end" (interchange) money if you actually call them back.  I'm reporting them to the DO Not Call Registry.  They have a facilitiy for reporting bogus numbers.  At least it is a start.

Fake magic-Jack number.  This bunch of scammer aren't even located in NC.   They just port themselves number to appear to be from your state to make you more likely to answer their call.

Scam operation.

They offer "free" equipment (which they then get your info to bill medicare and/or your insurance for...at the MAXIMUM rate allowed) - but where they screw you is in the monitoring fees and such.   They are much higher than other companies that offer the same service.

This bunch of gooky birds just wants to double dip their 'bill' in the medicare / insurance trough AND your wallet.

They even play off of a major brand name service "Medic Alert" by using a similar sounding name for their phone ID "Medical Alert" hoping to sponge off of the good will of that name.   I don't guess if they used their real name "Scams-R-Us" that they'd have too many takers for their over priced service.

This is certainly a scam and the front information is a pre recorded message, albeit a good one.  They prey on the elderly and are trying to separate them from their money.  Shows Pinehurst, NC but Roy Cooper will not allow them to operate in his state.  Set up to block or ignore.  Yes, they are do***e bags.

Bob from "shipping" called me this morning, wanting to deliver the paid-for medical alert system.  After repeatedly telling him he had the wrong address, I hung up on him.  Sadly, many elderly people may fall for this.

I pressed "5" probably about 5 or 6 weeks ago.   After pressing "5" there was the automated response: "Thank you for your time.  You will not be called again".   Well, in my case, that meant not being called again within the next 3 or 4 hours.   I've gotten 40 - 50 calls since my "5" press, but then I had gotten close to 100 calls prior to the "5" press.   That's not an exaggeration, the calls started around 12/15/2012 and there have been 1 to 3 calls nearly every day, except Sundays, since then.    I did foolishly, I suppose, press "1" to talk to a representative after about the 1st month of calls as just disconnecting the calls wasn't working to stop them.    Pressing "1" may have caused these scammers to latch on to me with a little more tenacity than with some others they call; but, in general, I think they will call relentlessly regardless of what one does.

The "representative" that I talked to did acknowledge that he was in a call center "right outside Orlando".    That, along with the nature of the calls, confirms, as far as I'm concerned, that the scumbag described in the following article is responsible for the calls that I'm getting:

http://legalnewsline.com/news/239798-n-d-ag-i ... ation-solutions

Also, the Indiana State Attorney General requested, and I believe was granted, a court injunction to prohibit Hilgar from calling into the state of Indiana.

It would be nice if our inept federal government could actually do something useful and appropriate for a change by shutting down this egregious extortion racket aimed at the elderly, frail, and ill: but if not this b*****d still needs to be dealt with.

Believe me, the scum behind this doesn't care one iota if you need a medical alert device or not.   What they do care about is finding an old person who they can frighten, deceive, intimidate, and harass to the point that the person will succumb and provide credit card  or bank account information (not sure exactly what they ask for, to be honest)  that will be charged.   Although, they claim the device is being made available free or charge or paid for by a "loved one" (How can grandma possibly turn down such a considerate gesture from a loved one?) , the catch is that if you accept the free medical alert device then, of course, it only makes sense to sign up for their monitoring service and that is when they get your financial information.    I have doubts that the device is ever delivered even if a means to pay for the monitoring is provided -- but, I don't know that definitively.

I don't know if what you are listening to is a recording or somebody reading a script (both have been reported and it is sometimes difficult to tell the difference), but regardless of which it is, just hanging up is a lot less aggravating and a lot more time saving than bothering with trying to talk to him/it first.

By all means report them to anybody you can find.    But, don't expect anything to change any time soon.    One reason for that is because this scamming mob uses different spoofed numbers for relatively small geographical areas and/or groups of people and they change the numbers often.    Therefore, there is never an appreciable  number of complaints against any one number which likely results in this scam largely "flying under the FTC radar".    These calls are very very likely coming from an outfit located near Orlando FL, so especially if they are still using a company name like Senior Safe(line) Alert, the Apr 3 post by Josh in the following thread indicates the Florida regulatory agency that they should be reported to.

My 80 year old mother got this (910-420-0106) call today - same story of medical equipment to deliver. They asked her to press '1' if yes and '5' if no. She pressed the 5 then hung up. I am now concerned that pressing any digit may have activated a new problem. Caller ID only read 'Pinehurst, NC'.

Keep getting calls from this number. 910-420-0106. I have tried to interrupt the male talking so I talk over him and hang up. Our number is on the do not call list. I have told them that I will report them and I will. So frustrating. We don't need any medical equipment. :(

I get these all the time. Just don't answer. Check and see if your phone service allows blocked calls. Mine will let you block up to 5 for free. The "Do Not Call" registry is as worthless as all our other government agencies. It was just something set up to make everyone feel that they were concerned about scams. You best believe, if someone of importance was receiving these scam calls, something would have been done a long time ago. I have reported several numbers for violating the "DNC" list. May as well have been talking to a tree, Actually, I probably would have gotten better results if I had been doing that.

Basically, we are on our own when it comes to these annoying calls. No one that can stop it really gives a crap!

--------------------------------
Got call from 910-420-1060 and after a second or two a man started in saying they wanted to schedule the delivery of a medical monitoring system.  Since I did not order/call/ask about one I interrupted him to ask about this. Well, I only tried to interrupt him as it was a recording!  How do we stop these calls?!?  As most of us are, I too am on the Do Not Call (DNC) list and I know that this type of call is prohibited but what can you do?  It's a recording so complaining does no good.  If you wait and do finally get a person, telling them to remove your number does not good.  Emailing the DNC folks does no good.  Again how do we stop these calls?  If anyone knows please let us all know!

Robo calling to cell phones are illegal regardless of the DNC list.  Robo calling is legal in some states on landlines,  despite the DNC.   Scammers such as this one,  are always illegal despite the DNC but they don't care about the law.

This is a robo call (illegal if you are on the DNC list).  I pushed the button to have my number  be taken off their list but then they added several other numbers According to the AARP they try to get you on the phone to get your credit card number and driver's license number to establish the service.  I have received this same scam and robo call from 4 other different numbers..  These numbers are 828-059-9744, 336-859-6217, 919-659-5636, 202-454-9999..  My recommendation is never answer the call if you don't know the number no matter how  agggrevated you get.

I received a call and it is a recorded scam saying that someone has already paid for (one of those alert systems for older people that if you press the button, help will be called).  It is trying to get information from you so they can steal your identity.  It targets older people so they think a loved one has bought this for them, when they feel comfortable with that, then a real person gets on the phone and gets as much information from you as they can.  Please if anyone out there has connections with the FBI, please have them investigate.

This is a recorded message.  The do not call registry is a joke!!!  My huge problem with this particular call is the message continues even if you hang up the phone and will tie up your line until the message is finished.  Thus, should you have an emergency, you will NOT be able to dial out until this stupid message ends!!!!  I can't believe, with all the technology we have today, there can't be something done about these calls!!!!!

This scammer (910-420-0106) claims to have a prepaid medical device ready to ship to me.  No one in my home uses medical devices of any kind.  I know nothing about this so I'm sure it must be a scam.  I have registered all of my phone #'s on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY so these calls ( I have had several from this number) are not only bothersome and harassing but also illegal.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Had a nuisance call from this number saying I had ordered a medical alert device that was prepaid.  I, of course, has ordered no such device.  Tried to interrupt the male caller 3 times, was ignored, and I finally hung up.  I am on a do-not -call list and am reporting this number.
