Any clue where this is from?

Beware...same guy now uses INTERNATIONAL CONSUMER PROMOTIONAL DRAW rather than Readers Digest using the same scam of telling you that you've won $500K and sending you a fake check to cover supposed taxes and administratative fees. He (Michael Washington) now uses the numbers 912-330-4479 & 912-434-7949 (a Magic Jack number of all things). The scam is that he wants you to deposit the fake check and call him back after it is done so that you can wire him a portion of it for the supposed taxes and fees. The problem is the check is fake and bounce. If money is sent, you will not be able to get it back (Money Gram or Western Union is his choices). The address of the compnay does not even exist although it states it is from Las Vegas. What is more ovious is the envelope the letter and check came in (no return address and from Washington state), telephone numbers in Georgia, and he wants funds sent to him in Oregon under the name of Peter Steade. When I called both numbers back and asked for Peter Steade rather than  Michael Washington, and he said it was him...Iknew then it was the same guy running the scam. He's been reported to FBI, Several State Police, USPS, MOney Gram, Western Union, AIG (company on fake check) as well as Majic Jack.

My mother got a chech in the mail telling her  the same thing, that she won 500,00.00 and she got a check for 4,986.01. I told her to get a hold of the bank that the check says and to call to find out more info about the clame

Yup tried getting me too sending me a check for $5,000 and saying I won $500,000

yeah seems i got the same kinda scam in the mail. and this will be dealt with legally.

Michael Washington claims he works for Readers Digest and is commiting fraud. He is send fradulent checks to innoncent victims and having them wire money back to him.
