I get a call several times a week.  They don't speak when I pick up the phone, they don't ever leave a message.  What's the point?

YEAH I GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER WANTING MY PERSONALY INFO..  IT'S A SCAM.

These calls come from a company called Asset Acceptance Aka AACC, http://www.assetacceptance.com.  They are a scavenger debt collector trying to collect on time barred, expired statue of limitations debt most the time.  Check your state statutes, TX 4 years, CO 6, etc.  They totally disregard the FDCPA law, one way they avoid prosecution is by calling from different offices and different numbers.  They have offices in Mesa, AZ, FL, IL, OH, TX & MI their (corp hdqtr) Asset Acceptance Capital Corp.P.O. Box 2036 Warren, MI 48090-2036 (800) 505-5166.  These calls people recieve with no answer that go dead are test calls (phishing) to see if a number is live.  Later on they will call you back from another number i.e. 480-588-0745 with an automated voice message like, "This message is for someones name in my case Karen Vivoda, I'm Micki Hart a debt collector with assest acceptance please call 800-213-8040.  I have personally called 3 times over the last year and a half to have both our business numbers taken of the list to no avail.  Yesterday I sent a Cease & Desist letter to both the employees address (Ryan Fountain) I found using their tactics and their corporate office.  Ryan advised me I had never called before to have my numbers removed from their list because there is no Karen V. here Now for someone who never called before to have the calls stop I sure know alot about their company wouldn't you say?  The 2 other people I spoke to wouldn't giver their name and obviously were to arrogant or lazy to take my name of the list.  It is not because I am pleased with their harrassing calls that I have made an effort to know who they are.

I have recieved the calls in the past.When I answer there is nothing.I even tried to return call and it can't be done.Wonder what kind of scam it is.

THESE PEOPLE ARE IRRITATING AS ---- THE PHONE RINGS 2 TIMES, YOU RUN TO GET IT AND THERE IS NO ONE THERE....IF YOU LET IT GO TO THE ANSWERING MACHINE, THEY NEVER LEAVE A MESSAGE.

THE PHONE COMPANY SUGGESTED BLOCKING THE CALLS AS THEY COME IN, BUT THEY
HAVE ABOUT A MILLION LINES...I DONT HAVE THAT LONG TO LIVE.

i got a call from this number today too..913-529-2981

Called 8/2/07 around 1:30PM while I was at work. CID said: "Unknown". Judging by the previous posts, I'm glad I wasn't here. Thanks to all for the heads up on these jerks.

Received a call saying they were Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union and that my transfer privileges had expired and to call 800-430-6735 to reinstate it.  I have reported this to my credit union and wonder how they got my phone number

When answered there was no reply, just silence.

Like one of the reports above. This number called several times (at least once a day) for the last 7 days. When I answered, they hung up without leaving a message.

Called and left no message

Called 1-913-529-2981, (AT&T is LD provider)and received the message that "This call cannot be completed as dialed. Please hang up and try again."

No message left on my answering machine, I called the number and got a phoney "this number can not be reached like this, please hangup and dial again" message with a female voice

Call showed 913-592-2981 from "ACCT SERVICES" on the caller ID.  I just let the answering machine get it and a prerecorded message claimed to be from High Plains Fedreal Credit Union stating, "your transfer service has expired, to reinstate, please call us at 800...."  I didn't get the rest of the number as my answering machine was full and cut it off when I tried to replay it.

Twice a recording has been left from this number asking me to extend my warranty. I don't have any warranties, so I don't know what they are talkinga bout.

This number called several times (at least once a day) for the last 7 days. When I answered, they hung up.

Called me late (11PM ET).  I didn't answer and no msg was left.  Number traces to a Kansas City location so it was 10PM when they called.  Too late for legit solicitation.  Seems fishy.

Caller did not respond to initial greeting. *69ed the number...

Called every 10 minutes for 3-4 times in a row about every 1/2 hr this happened.

We received a call into our office, and caller did not respond to our greeting and hung-up the phone without stating why they were calling our office.

I am currently on the line with them listening to a recording about starting a business...

Call left a message from Dominos Pizza claiming that I hadn't ordered in a while and if I ordered again I would get $5 off.  This is by far the weirdest message I've ever received (political messages included).

Nothing but dead silence when the phone was answered.  Am certain they will try again as these types always do.

They left message to call 800-379-0713 about some mortage or loan.
