You obviously work for this company, they do not follow the laws, they harass over and over multiple calls a day whcih is illegal.  Aftr yiou have zent them qa request not to call, in writing, they keep on calling which is a violation of the law as well.

I agree with you, my son went to a emergency room for 3 hours, they charged over $ 4, 200.00; my insurance paid $ 3,900.00, so they are changing me $450.00. I called the hospital to  pay, got confirmation number and forgot about this, not because the money isn't important, but because i don't want to get more upset about the way this country make money with health. Some smartass gave me the confirmation number and never charged my credit card. Months later I found that my debt is being in a debt collector, not only one but 2 debt collectors, one of them is of course north eastern asset recovery. The funny thing is they have different amounts.

You need to send this company a Cease and Desist letter. You can find templates on the Internet. Send it by certified mail. If they still call, you can sue them. Their address is as follows:

North Eastern Asset Recovery now uses 18008516003. They leave a recorded message. When I called back they said that I have outstanding bills with Beth Israel Hosp. I found that odd because a couple of months ago my husband went to Beth Israel to straighten out all outstanding bills. When I called Beth Israel, sure enough they had given this collection agency my info without charging my secondary ins. and said that they closed my account and no longer have my billing records. Poor management on their part. I called primary insurance to find out where the payments were mailed to and the telephone numbers of the doctors so that I could take care of business directly with them. I told North Eastern about Beth Israel's error. North Eastern had the nerve to call me again. I asked, why are you calling me now?" "Jimmy" at North Eastern said he has another bill from 2011 in addition to the other bills. I said why didn't you tell me about that one before? He said he's going to keep calling me until everything is paid. I said that I just won't be bothered with North Eastern, however,...in mid sentence he hung up on me. Very professional of you Jimmy!

These scum bags call every day, 7 am, 12 pm, 3 pm, 6 pm, even 9 pm. Nobody will talk to you
when you call back. The automated messages they leave lead you back to an automated
switch board where they threaten you to pay a made up amount for an unknown past due
account. I say if you ever run across one of their employees, put a bullet in them. These debt
collectors pray upon people who do not owe money, the call up to and over a year, they never

You can call 1800-851-6003 I had same issue. it seemed that the doctors office messed up and didn't charge my CC the entire fee then sent the remaining balance to the collecting agency  
After calling my medical office i found out some interesting stuff
1. this woman patty at the collecting agency lied to me when she said she'll report to the credit agency BECAUSE SHE CANT
2. she also lied when she said the claim can't be recalled because my case is being recalled
I was also told to request in writing that my medical office has recalled the claim for further use against possible harassment from collectors
3. "NEAR" seems to be legit b/c my medical bill was indeed transferred to a collecting agency

I got a call from them as well and a bill from Beth Israel medical center so i called BIMC billing and they said they had transferred my case to a collecting agency (and that they'll recall it b/c its a mistake) so it seems to be legit. However the collecting agency are not truthful because they said they'll report on my credit score and they are not allowed/can't
I also made sure that the medical bill was legit b/c the number 1-800-808-5522 that was on the bill was on bimc-obgyn.com/billing.html
And just b/c they're legit it doesn't mean that there are no illegal posers

very true! but you still got to be careful to whom you give your info.
also of note is that its to your benefit to take care of it ASAP as it can go against you credit score.
what i plan and doing is to call the medical office for clarity as well as ask them if they have handed the case over to NEAR inc.

Constant and harassing calls from this number. No one ever is on the other line when I pick up, and when I call back I get rude and mean responses from people who refuse to tell me what the call is in reference to and then hung up on.

North Eastern Asset Recovery, Inc. sounds like a scam to me.  I got a call from the 8008516003 number a while ago.  The automatic answering voice said to hold and this is not a sales call.  A second or two later, a man pick up the line and identified himself as from Northeastern Asset Recovery about an unpaid medical bill.  They asked me to provide him with my address, but I initially refused.  He mentioned my doctor's name and hospital and the amount I owed.  It sounded very real.  He said he wouldn't be able to disclose information to me unless I can confirm who I am by providing my address.  So, I finally gave him my street address only.  He finished it for me by saying the correct apartment number.  He SAID he knows my address, phone number, SSN and other information.... (Not sure how much information he really already knew or was this just a phishing scam??  I wonder how he got these information??)

I told him I don't owe anything and even if I do, how come I have never received any bills or calls from the doctor's office.  At first, I thought this must be a mistake made by the hospital.  He played along with my naïve assumption and asked for my health insurance name.  I told him my insurance company's name, but I quickly added I have switched my health insurance since.  After I told him that, he quickly lost interest and tried to get me off the phone.  I think they may be trying to do get my insurance and other personal info.

I did a quick search on the internet about the company.  It appeared to have a legitimate website at first glance.  But, if you dig deeper, you will find that there are many inconsistencies.  

1.) Look under their Careers section, it?s great that they have this section with an email address.  But the email was amuia@corporatemail.org  No legitimate company has this kind of email.    
2.) Google Map their address and you will find that it is the address of If you Google the address ?22 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne, NY?, you will find other so called ?collection agents? using the same address ADVANCED BILLING SERVICES INC using the number 9145931600.   Advanced Billing Services Inc. and Northeastern Asset Recovery Inc. are related companies, most likely own by the same people.

Other companies using the same address include ?Red Zone International?, ?Chase Receivables?,  ?Perfect Abstract Inc?, ? Law Office of Anthony J. Maiocchi, PLLC? a collection lawyer ?.  I am not sure what their relationships are, but it sounds really funny with all having the same address.  Could someone purposely set up these companies to hide their true identity?  Or, is this just a mail box service place?  Either way, it makes them all look suspicious.  

I do not know what they want with my information or how they obtained them.  But, this really smells funny.  If you are contacted by them, do not give them any information, especially if you do not owe any money to your doctors.  Just hang up.  Don?t worry, if you really owe money, they will call again.  But first, call your doctors? office and sort out the issue and find out how they obtain your information.  Then, you can decide if you want to file complaints to consumer protection agencies or press charges against them.

This is a bill collector that wants your credit info even if you have paid the bill directly to the owed company. Do not give them any info.

Oh, and just to clarify, I am not <NAME> they leave in the message.

I keep getting messages from the 914 # that state something like, "If you continue to listen to this message, we will assume you are <NAME> and you must listen." Needless to say, I delete it before they even start with "If you..." I put the # on my Block Calls list, as well as the 800 #.

Yo Rick, sounds like you got an equity stake in North Eastern Asset Recovery as your advice is self-serving only to azzh*le bill collectors which is what you most certainly are.

Keep getting phone calls at work from this company . They never leave a message, some one said they are a collection agency the funny thing about this is that I am not aware of any unpaid debts that I would have, if there is nothing else I do on time it is pay my bills.
Seems they always hang up before I can get to the phone. These people are about to get me at my whits end. Has any one elsed had this problem with this phome number.

Evey day for about 2 years i get phone calls from 1-800-851-6003 I have a caller ID I have also a list with every date and time. They leave messeges but they never explain what they are trying to collect. as I owe nothing. They also call from 1-914-593-1600 and do not talk. This is pure harassment that have to be investigated by the attorney general of NYS. and FCC. I have an unlisted telephone . How  they can call my phone and they are not being blocked. They commiting a crime by harassment phone calls that have no ground and no merit.

Or, maybe the people that are doing this calling are PRETENDING to be the debt collection agency they name in the call -- but are really thieves.

I got a recorded call from them this morning (my first, as I have been out of the country for several months). Suspecting nothing I returned the call to the 800 number immediately. The woman who answered first, after asking me to repeat my name, said "Oh, yes, I remember calling you."  She didn't call me, some recording did.  Then, she asked what phone number she had called.  I told her.  She said "My computer is frozen right now.  I'll call you back in 5 minutes."   P.S.  No call back yet.

I think it's all very fishy, and people are right to be suspicious.
