I received a similar call but it was from 7708841855. They too had all my information and pretty much told me there?s nothing I can do because I?m locked into a contract for 30 months at $39.90 per month. I got my cc cancelled and reported them.

Called them back and told them I had reported them to the BBB and that I needed to be removed from their system. I got a man named Ed Kobs who said he was from America Subservice who takes calls for western renewal at 425 605 0802 who was very nice and removed me from the system, including my phone # from their call list. He also admitted that they tried to authorize a $5 charge from my acct, which he assured me would not go through. I know it wont because I cancelled my credit card. But if you get someone who says you cannot cancel, call the above number and ask for this guy, he does not give you the run around.

Got the same call, and same run around. They had all of my info. Called my credit card and western renewal was trying out my acct by trying to put through a $5 charge. If they call you and have your info, report fraud to your credit card so they give you a new number. These scammers are tricky and will find a way around a fraud flag. The number they called me from was 402 835 0582 and 425 605 0802. They so called supervisor gave me 888 301 4138. My credit card company said the charge was based out of Kansas. Even if they say they cancelled your account, I would change your card # just to be safe.

I got 6 calls from this company today. They called me from 2 different numbers, (914)919-2083 and (617)938-3813. Since I was at work when I initally received the phone calls I looked them up online and actually found this website and read everyone's story. Luckily for myself they have not charged my credit card (yet) but did inform me that they have all of my information. I told Tiffany, the rep that called me, that I had NOT subscribed to anything (she tried to tell me it was a magazine at first then changed her story to a sweepstakes) and then asked her to tell me what credit card info of mine they had. She said since I was not cooperating with her (which when I asked how I wasn't cooperating she had no response) she couldn't give me that information but she could transfer me to her supervisor, only if I would verify all of my information for her. I immediately told her no and to NOT call me again.
I work for a law firm and actually spoke to my attorney about this issue today which he recommended I call the Attorney General's office which I did this evening.  To file a complaint you must be registered on the Do Not Call list and it has to be the number that they are calling that is registered. I wasn't able to make a complaint today because of this, but was told to call them back if they continue to call.
If they ask you to verify your information with them to speak with a supervisor or for any other reason DO NOT DO IT. I'm also calling the BBB and my bank as some of you others have said you're going to do and definitely suggest everyone do this. When I tried to go to the company's website it would never go through, my browser just said waiting for them to connect.
Like people don't have enough money issues these days! These compaines need to get SHUT DOWN! Good luck to everyone else having this issue and I hope everyone gets it resolved!

Ok, I called them back, demanded that it was a scam and to get my "account" cancelled immediately or I would report them. The guy said he would give that information to a a "higher-up" and they would call me back in 10-15 minutes. Didn't call back so I called back and supposedly his "supervisor" tapped him on the shoulder and cancelled my "account" which he originally said that I didn't HAVE one in the first place. So Hopefully I got this crap taken care of and I won't be billed crap or I will have to waste another afternoon kicking some a**. So hopefully all of you other people can get your scam taken care of. Good luck

This is total crap. I've received the same call as everyone here saying that I have been subscribed for magazines and I would have to pay $39.90 for a month for 24 months (the guy I talked to said he was going to give me 6 months without payment) and that I would received 30 ADDITIONAL months free of charge. What crap! They had all my information, my address, name credit card so I thought, s*** what the fu*k did I get myself into. Then I looked up the number, COMPLETE SCAM. I've called my credit card to alert them and have been pestering the "company" Western Renewal to cancel my "subscription". When I called the company's customer service line, they answered that the company was a publishing company. Obviously they're lying! There's only one way to tell the truth, it's by telling the truth. They keep changing their story! Don't even know where they're located, don't even know where they're located. It's a bunch of bull crappy. Makes a person think twice about wanting to have a kid in such a SCAM-FILLED world.

...numbers with the SAME recording- (914-919-2083) (718-725-7335) (800-511-9287) .just got a call from this place (612-605-3725)- 'Western Renewal Service'- stating that i had received a 30 day promo for magazines in APRIL & they wanted to know if i was getting the mags in mail because they had 'problems' sending them to my area. They couldn't verify WHERE they got my info and what i ordered, all she said was, i may have ordered something, like a workout dvd (which i did- in MAY). They gave me NO choice to cancel because i have "exceeded" my 30 day promotion to cancel, and told me since i was "AWARE" of the 30day cancellation and i DID NOT cancel, i only had 2 choices- $39.90 for 30 mnths the "discounted" price or $69 for 30mnths. They had my address, phone #, 4 digits of my cc#, bday, place of work and income!!!
I asked for verification of this promo and a recording of me agreeing to this promo- she then said, if i wanted that information, id have to wait for 4 weeks, and would not receive the discounted price, and would automatically op out to $60 a month.
they said if i would not confirm my magazine promo then i would be charged $60 no matter what. WE had an hour 1/2 long argument, and i ended up giving my CC# to the bi*** (sry- pissed now). After i looked up the name of the business, it was a COMPLETE scam! FML. I cancelled my card immediately, and taking ALL action to stop future transactions and hopefully have a dispute to get my money back!!! UGH

I had exactly the same call a few days ago.  They claimed i had signed up for $1,200.00 worth of magazine to be paid thru 30 payments of $39.90.  They said i signed up for 5 magazine for 5 years.  when i asked where i signed up from they couldn't tell me.  Saying i must have signed up for them from a online site or Walmart or something but they didn't know.  I even got a statement in the mail from them.  So far i have blocked all further transactions from them on my credit card which they had started to charge.  Made a complaint to my states Attorney General Office, and also a complaint to the BBB at:
http://www.newmexicoandsouthwestcolorado.bbb.org/Home.aspx

And get this according to the BBB "Western Renewal Service" doesn't exist anywhere in the USA or Canada even though the statment i got says they are based in Albuquerque NM.  But it does now they put the info of the company i gave them into there data bank.  So please use the website above and put in your complaints.  Maybe if enough complaints go in these guys will get shut down so they cant scam anyone else.

I just got one of these calls and they said they had complaints from our area about delayed deliverly and damaaged magazines and they were just calling to see if I had any problems. Then they wanted a bunch of information and said they needed to override the account so I wouldn't get the automatic renewal. When I said I was not comfortable giving out my info, he said he had my cc number already and just need to verify that I was the correct account holder. He did have the correct last four digits and my name and address. So I hung up and looked up western renewal service and called their customer service. They had no record of me having an account with them.

My call was from a different number (718-725-7335) but the same song and dance. I told them that I did not sign up and was passed over to a "Supervisor." I explained the situation to the woman and told her that I knew for a fact I did not sign up for a magazine. I also said if the charge showed up on my card I would dispute it and notify the BBB. I then called my credit card company to have them flag any charges from Western Renewal Service (WRS) just in case.

I just had a very similar conversation as the others here.  I had a magazine subscription with a different company which I had finished and cancelled a few months ago.  I never authorized a renewal of any kind.  This is a SCAM and I am reporting them!!

I got the exact same call. They tried to get me to answer specific questions on recording. I instantly said "no". Also was curious as to where they recieved my information. Supposively I talked to the supervisor who worked there for 7 years, yet didn't know the company's website name, couldnt tell me my online username, nor could tell me the exact date and instance i accepted the offer. He did manage to read off all the numbers on my credit card (including security number, expiration date, and full name) and my home address. He than began to say the office was closing and his boss was giving him "the eye". Which i instantly asked to speak to him, big surprise when he said i couldnt. Freaky stuff. As soon as I got off the phone i called my provider who cancelled my card and filed a fraud/scam report to the FTC.

Kind of scary having some random company read off all your information to you over the phone... Not something i want happening again.

My call was from a different number, but it was the same company, same situation. I "signed up" for something and was "made aware" of the cancellation period and "didn't" cancel the subscription. So they were going to charge me a "low rate" for only 3 years instead of 5 years. Isn't that nice? I'm making sure no payments will go out to these scammers. I know for a fact that I didn't agree to any of that mess. This is horrible.

I also received a call from this number telling me that I had signed up for magazines from Western Renewal Service.  The lady I spoke to said I must have signed up for a gas card or bought something on line from Walmart.  I did buy something on line from Walmart but did not sign up for receiving any magazines.  I spoke to several people during that same phone call and told them I wanted this canceled.  They told me they could not cancel it.  I will make sure no more payments are charged to my credit card

I just had a very loud and frustrating converstion with a lady from Western Renewal. Like the other 2 people, she said I had signed up for some 5 year magazine subscriptions at $59 per month, and they were going to charge my credit card that they had on file. She read to me the first 4 digits and the last 4 digits... not sure if she had the other digits or not. But I didn't sign up for CRAP nor did I give out my CC# or my phone number. I have nevr even heard of this company before! And I work A LOT so I don't have time to read 7 different magazines each month!!! These people are crazy. I kept asking her how they got my information and all she would say is "you signed up for the service ma'am..." I asked what service and when did I sign up... she just kept saying "you must've signed up during a sweepstakes or a drawing for a gift card or when you signed up for a Wal-mart gas card..." I knew that I had not done any of those things. I demanded to speak to her manager. Still nothing was explained to my satisfaction. Before I got off the phone, I made her agree to cancel this crap. Now I am going to call my bank to make sure that no payments are made to these scammers. Then I am calling the BBB!!

I also got a call from them saying I had to cancel my automatic renewal on my magazines or I would be charged $45 a month.  I called the magazines I do subscribe to and they all said I was NOT set up for automatic renewal and that I was in fact paid up for a year to 2 years depending on the magazine.  This is a scam.  How do I get the calls stopped?

Had an infuriating conversation today with a woman from this number who claimed she was the highest ranking person there. Said I would be charged $50 a month for the next 30 months for a magazine subscription that I got for free after buying bookshelves at Walmart. She said since I hadn't cancelled the subscription within a certain time period, I was locked into this contract. I don't remember ever giving this company - Western Renewal Service - my cell number or credit card number. I hope my credit card company supports me in refusing any charges. Help!
