Debt Collector
Its' a collection agency.  I picked up the phone a got connected to a live person.
With the new phone number I recently got I also inherited a bunch of collection agencies going after the previous phone owner. They call every day, apologize for inconvenience and promise to remove me from the list yet keep calling me again the next day.

This numbers among others that Checksmart is using.  They call every single day.  I have no business with these people.  I report each and every call they make to the attorney general.  I block out the calls but they continue to call under different numbers.  I'm hoping the attorney general will look into this and stop these people.

I think that most people would rather stop the damn calls from coming in every hour rather than to determine whether or not Checksmart, a scam company is a legitimate debt collector or a fake debt collector?

Checksmart, a scam company is a legitimate debt collector that has been around for a while. They know the game better than anyone. They know exactly how many calls they can make per day, on which days and which distribution of times so that they can just fly under the radar and not be prosecuted for harrassment. All Checksmart, a scam company has to do is type in your phone number, hit enter and the robocall computer algorithm does the rest, calling you automatically from a variety of phone numbers around the entire country at regular intervals.

Complain? Not a chance. In their physical offices, their few perm employees hide in back offices. The front offices are staffed with temps and turn over every month. Obviously, if you call them and actually manage to speak to a human, the telephonist is either another such temp or a perm using a fake name.

Checksmart, a scam company knows that most people are too busy in their day jobs to do anything about it and follow through and they're absolutely right; that's why they're here to stay. The DNC won't help you. The official complaint procedure is slow and after two months, might give Checksmart, a scam company, a little slap on the wrist and then Checksmart, a scam company, will respond by selling your telephone number to telemarketers, now that they know your telephone number is active.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I received a call from 619-469-8824, David Scott, said he was from the State Assesors office,  he had a HEAVY middle eastern/Indian accent.  Said there was a law suit against my social security number, call was very unclear like bad reception.  They also called my place of employment, I hung up on them, so far they haven't called back.

Checksmart, a scam company.

I get unsolicited robocalls about 5x per day from this and other related numbers to checksmart (I will continue to add more when I know of them):

614-210-2966
614-445-6669
614-760-2186
614-760-4001
614-760-4183

866-354-0567
866-354-0597
916-440-1294
916-446-2058

Go ahead and block or report these numbers. Get your service provider to screen unidentified calls. Then assign all these numbers to a single contact and block that contact. The do-not-call directory will not help you because it does not cover debt collectors.
