I did have an account with Wells Fargo I returned my RV. I followed the instructions for pickup 3 years ago and I am getting these calls with no person on the phone! I will  connect with Social Security Administration. In the last 6 months I have had unknown person taking money from my account, I bank with Bank of America. Its time to make a change and soon. Thanks for your information.

I agree! They keep calling me about a debt that I don't owe to them! I will report them to the Better Business Bureau.

Thanks for the insight!

Prank Call
To Whom it may concern,
RE: Calls from this number (916)631-7085

I received calls from this number  (631-7085) As well as my family and friends, including my Priest at our Catholic Parish, With false allegations in regards to me. Who ever calls is firm and making it sound like I'm in trouble or a gangster, That concerns my family and friends. When the call is answered, it's always silent,  no one  says anything. When dialed back there is no reference to anything and or they'll say the phone number is not active or in service. I would appreciate it if this all stops!

Thank you,Caron Vaughn.

This # repeatedly calls & my cell phone. I answered several times to a clicking sound then disconnect.
When I've answered other times their asking for someone I've never heard of, my response ; you have the wrong number but they keep calling asking for same person.
I'm on the no call list, but that doesn't seem to be working!

This call came on my wife's phone, they asked for me and when she gave the phone; after the man did not tell us who he was. Have no idea, but know this is a scam. We do not owe debts, however we both have had our identity stolen, when we were mugged at one time.

This is hopefully not another new pain we must deal with from a mugging four years ago.

What they are doing is illegal and they will be prosecuted, my Father-in-law is an attorney.

We get a robo call from this number every day at all hours. They are asking for one of our children who has not lived with us for 50 years, and we do not know about any of our childrens personel business.  They are evil people who harrass  elderly people that has had nothing ever to do with them.  I don't know where they got our phone #. This sick practice should be against the law.

THIS IS NOT (AND I REPEAT) NOT A SCAM!!!. . .  STATES RECOVERY IS A LEGIT COLLECTIONS AGENCY. I OWE A DEBT TO MY COLLEGE FROM LAST YEAR AND THEY HAVE CALLED ME TO WORK OUT A PAYMENT PLAN.  DO NOT LISTEN TO THE OTHERS SAYING THIS IS A SCAM.  THEY ARE A 2ND PARTIED COMPANY THAT TAKES OVER CASES AFTER THE FIRST COLLECTION AGENCY CANNOT. THEY ALWAYS PICK UP THE PHONE AND ALWAYS GET A REP TO TALK.

Its States Recovery. if you are getting calls from them its probably because you owe someone money, or who ever had your number before you (if you  havent had it long).
Or at least thats who it was when they called me...its legit. I really did owe money for school.
They are fairly nice (for a bill collector that is) and kinda work with you to make payments and not just threaten to sue you for the money.

August 4, 2011 **Update** to August 8, 2011 **.  August 4, I received a call and was told that my payment did not go through and was returned as being "fraudulent."  Odd...that would be the first word I thought of.  I had been waiting since July 31st for the money to come through with no luck.  I asked to just pay $50.00 and was told, "no."  However, a few moments later we haggled to $80.00.  Then, $50 was acceptable.

No sooner than we agreed to this amount, I heard the sound of keys clicking and then an "oh ohhh" from the rep's side.  I was put on hold immediately.  I rushed to my computer and signed onto my online banking account.  Yes friends, $100 was taken out.  Just like before (see my past updates).  I was told that it was immediately reversed.  Given my past relationship with this company once taking $200 instead of $100, I said, "and it's going to take 9 days to be returned right?"

After hanging up, I immediately called my bank who released the funds.  Well, that was on Thursday.  Friday rolls around and the $100.00 (that was supposed to be returned, remember) was taken out again.  Same procedure; call my bank, funds released, called States Recovery to tell them if they put it through again a complaint from the bank would be filed.   Once again, the bank was at fault.  "We didn't put it through"...and then moments later, "it was reversed"...followed up with, "it comes back fraudulent."  My bank is laughing at the accusations, meanwhile, because I have used my debit card moment before telling States Recovery to take out $50.00 and the two businesses took the money out of my account.  Hmmm, they have no problems with my card being 'fraudulent' nor does the bank have any record of my calling in to report the card as being lost or stolen.  No odd activity...hmmmm.

Today is Saturday.  Can you see where this is going? Yes.  Another $100 taken out.  My bank has the times and dates that each one has come through totaling $300.00.  I now have to go into the bank on Monday to recover the $35.00x3 times returned check fees and file a complaint.  I called States Recovery and told them I would be filing a complaint, as mentioned on Thursday.  I was deterred from filing it by having another call between them and my bank.  "We're using very old computers", said the rep.  "Commodore 64's?", I replied.

So, with this being said, I simply wanted $50 taken out. The rep has admitted it was her fault in not going in the system and changing it.  However, I...the consumer who has been paying on time, has to once again pay for my diligence in trying to settle an account.  Therefore, I will be paying online, either through my bank or on their website.  Yes, you can pay on their website.  When I brought this up today, you would have thought I had stumbled upon a secret.  (Once again, see my prior updates of not ever being told about this service except from my own research).

I never thought it would be this difficult to simply give someone my money and continue on with my life.  However, States Recover has become more of a stalking ex that eventually, if these practices continue, will flush down the metal sewers along with other companies that take the struggling citizen as a joke.

Pripit2004, you can get on a payment plan.  They're lying.  They want to get you to pay everything all at once.  Be careful because they will start asking if you can take out loans or borrow the money from other people.

Yesterday, I received two calls within a 3 minute period.  The first time a message was left.  Then the rep. immediately called back and left 'on hold' music for my voice mail to listen to.  Just called again this morning.  HERE'S THE KICKER! They haven't processed the payment I JUST MADE A DAY AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still waiting for it to clear the bank and they're already calling to ask for more money.

These guys are a debt collection service. I can't tell much about them but they're sure willing to fight their butts off to talk you into paying for whatever it is. They've called me as early as 7am and as late as midnight, which I know is illegal, but I can't get any info on them. I've had up to 7 calls in one day from the company RMS who had the same account before them, same thing. Hidden numbers, skip tracing, and I am not convinced the girl I'm talking to is different even though she says they're not the same company. She never would give me the name of the company.
To make this worse they're collecting on a bill that is in my opinion fraudulent in the first place, though the company and i have been fighting over this for over a year. Their dispute resolution team says "we don't care what was said to you, the bill is what you owe" Charming huh?

Debt Collector
**Update**

Well, this is become so ridiculous that I am purposing a reality-based tv show on debt collectors! Received a call on June 24, 2011 wanting to know when I would be able to pay my bill off.  They have called my lawyer and he told them to stop the harassment.  Before they can get a check cleared from the bank, they call a week before one transaction is due to set up another!  I have done some 'arm chair investigation' and see that the University of Phoenix uses this company as well.  Hope that helps some of you out.  My debt is from, what they're saying, something old from Wells Fargo.
