Got a call asking for my husband (on my personal cell) when I said I was his wife and could I tell him what it was regarding he said it was about a packet of information he mailed to ___ address at which point I said "I don't think you have the right person as he has never lived at that address. He then verified my husbands full name, which was correct, but then said he had to look into it and would have to call back later.

Scammers, bottom feeders, harassers.

A real debt collector must give you notice in writing and are allowed to call no more than once a month if you tell them not to call. They are not to threaten you in anyway by law. Therefore if they are harassing, threatening, bullying, or any other non civil behavior it is a scammer or a phishing act and should be reported as such.

Just got a call for my husband. They had the name correct but when I asked what it was regarding he said it was about information he mailed to ******** address which is not nor ever had been my husbands address. Then he said he would have to call me back. That is when I looked them up on the web.

When getting a call from these a**holes tell them that they are not to call you again and that you are recording the whole conversation.  Inform them that if they call again that you will turn over the taped conversation to your attorney general office in the state that you live in.  People standing up to these scammers will stop them but only when you people stand up to them and let them know that bullying is not going to work cause that is just what they are doing.

Even if you own money to these fools you don't have to take their crap and let them know this.  Turn everything around on them and you become the bully to them with the law on your side and trust me they will stop.

A man called me and asked my address.  I was reluctant to tell him and he told me that he had my address but just wanted to verify I was the person he wanted to talk to.  He was from Nelson law firm and something I really didn't want to hear.  He insisted to have my date of birth and then he would tell him.  I told him why I had to tell you and told him I was going to call the police.  Be careful.  Everyone.

They called me yesterday but I refused to answer any questions and finally hung up.

Folks, there is a simple solution. Dont answer the phone, dont EVER talk with them. Why let them upset you? You cannot reason with them, they don't care. They buy debt for pennies on the dollar and then hire phone sales folks to collect. Best thing you can do is NOT LET THEM UPSET you. How?

1, Don't answer - ever
2, Block them
3, Assign silent ring tone the their number
4, Worst case, change phone number or get a majic jack (so cheap)

It is really that simple. They cant be reasoned with so expend no energy with them. If you continue to never answer, they will stop calling. If you answer once or try to explain, they will flag you as a possible collection and never go away.

Call and leave no message. I called them via Skype and got a voice mail- says Kennard & Nelson Law Firm. Also says that they are a debt collection company. I *know* they're not calling for me because I don't have a SINGLE outstanding debt. Haven't for years. I don't care who they're supposedly calling about. If it ain't my debt it ain't my problem. Like idboy said, if it's a valid claim they must and will send you something in writing that can be verified. Sounds like either an unethical debt collector who will use and means- including illegal ones- to find the debtor. OR they're just another scam plain and simple. I'm leaning toward the latter.

The company tried to sue me on a expired debt

ya, they got a bunch of names and phone numbers in a robo dialer and some guy talking tough on the phone.  

Tough guy is phishing for personal information that they hope to use against you to collect on an already charged off debt that they bought dirt cheap.  Odds are that it is not your debt, they are calling everybody with a name similar to yours that is on a list loaded into their dialer.

Don't even talk to this a$$holes.  If you make a mistake and answer the phone when they call, tell the tough guy to hand deliver an invoice and collect in person.

Companies like this need to be put out of business.  So do the companies that sell your phone number and information to them, like LexisNexis and Experian.

Called to try to collect on an 8 year old debt cleared in a ch 7 bankruptcy and beyond the state's statue of limitations. Threatened to file suit if we did not pay. Let them fly a lawyer to my state to lose.
reports on the web are that these are a bunch of bottom feeder lawyers who hire underpaid hairlips to try to intimidate you and ignore old court findings of the fair debt collection act. They buy bad debt from other collection agencies for pennys on the 100's of dollars and phish-harass people in hopes of a payout due to ignorance or intimidation.  They are being sued for 75 million in Arizona as of feb 2009.

Keep getting severe collection calls at our home phone from this firm- they are trying to get info on a former tenant in another city.  Today they wanted me to send a letter to our rental address to see if I could get a forwarding address for the former tenant-They call early on weekends-I told them not to contact me again as I have no business with them.

these people keep calling my parents home harrassing them, i dont understand why they keep calling them looking for me , i paid the bill and i have proof from the court and signed by the judge. it seems to me that these idots love to kick people when their down especially around the holidays and the way the economy is right now. they are nothing but scam artist, SO SHARON STOP CALLING MY PARENTS HOME!

Just got a call and they left a message that this was an important message regarding a civil matter. Problem with a Law Firm telemarketing is that they actually need to send a letter if its true. Big red flag here on this number and the company. Obviously ambulance chasers and the like.

They keep calling me, but they never leave a message.

I ogt a call from this number saying they were going to find me and sue me. I told them that I had no idea what they were talking about. They said they asked me for my birthdate and responded that they had my social . I told them I never had a card and that I have had my info stolen in the past. They said that they are going to come after me and that they would take everything I had and that there was no getting out of this because they have a all of my information and that I better settle the amount out. Right before they call from Sacramento an Arizona number calls first. I hung up.

We also got a call from these people today, asking for our daughter or her husband, neither of whom live with us. The guy wouldn't give out any information on why he was calling, other than it concerned a "civil matter". We offered to provide him with the phone number for my daughter's lawyer, but he declined, saying that he could only accept that information from her. He left a phone number and asked us to get my daughter to call him. Now that I have seen the preceding message by 'Harrassed', I don't think she's going to be making that call. Thanks 'Harrassed' and thanks to the people who operate this website!!!

These people have recently left several messages. First recorded messages, then from a real person called Antwan. They are saying that our daughter, who does not live with us, owes money - again!
This happened a couple of years ago, when they sent a bill for several hundred dollars, that they said our daughter owed. Our daughter maintained that she had all her receipts that proved she paid her bill. We told them this, but they kept on calling.
I'm afraid that they are trying to get money from us right now when people are receiving a bonus from the government...
I researched the original company and they were affiliated with a scam operation out of Arizona. It seems that they are now located in the Sacramento area.
