If you get a text message from this number just reply with "Stop", "No reply", or "Stop messaging" and by law the company must take you off of their messaging list.

I received a friend invite on FB from a 'Nicole Hinchcliff' and saw that she was a mutual friend of some relatives so I "friended" her.  Shortly afterward I received a FB IM text that she admired my photos and she had to go so text her at 917-746-1708. The language of the text and someone being too familiar w/ me after only becoming friends for a few seconds was a warning sign that this was a scammer.  UNFRIENDED right away!

I received a message from a girl named Jennifer Eldringhoff on Facebook. She told me she has to be off FB at that moment and left me the number to text. Yes, that same freaking cursed number from the discussions above! I texted the number and then she replied saying that her message limit was up. She then left me a link which was actually a porn site called Fling. I did not know at the about about the true nature of the site at that moment so I clicked on it. Now I am stuck with an account on Fling. I looked for 20 minutes but could not find any "Cancel Account" button! I am so angry! I ended up sending a help notice to the customer service and reported Jen E.

The account that is sending these messages is a fake account set up to send these messages in hopes that you will respond to them via text message. If you do, you will be sent a link to a pornographic site, according to a poster here who did text the number.

If you get a message with this number:

1) Unfriend the person sending the message.
2) Report the account to Facebook as either fake, spam, or scam.

In order to protect your information, as there is potential for identity theft as well:

1) Go to your privacy settings at the top of the page in the left hand corner.
2) Hide the following:
Your phone number
Your email address
Your date of birth (you can hide only year if you'd prefer)
3) Hide your friend list.

In the case of phone number, email, and DOB, there is no real reason this needs to be on Facebook. Anybody close enough to call or email you probably already has this information stored in their phone or email contact list. They probably know your birthday as well.

As for your friend list, I believe this is how this number is finding new contacts. Hiding your friends list will prevent the people you know from falling victim.

I also got a friend request from a girl name ashley in facebook. she send me a message to txt her back. I look the number up n its from new york Manhattan and its a prepaid phone.

Well I accepted a friend request from a woman on facebook and she sent me a message to text her from this number. I back tracked the number to Brooklyn NY and Airtel owns the number which is a prepaid phone service out of India. What will they think of next?
